At 9 o'clock on Friday morning, the guard told me that it was not open today because the king of Thailand passed away and asked me to come back next Monday. Thai King died two years ago, isn't it? A white run, the trip has to be delayed!
The guy sitting on front counter is so rude and unhelpful. I was there with my girlfriend she have Belgium passport and we needed single visa for 2 months but when we filled Visa from and flight tickets and all others photocopy he start asking for bank details but before filling we already asked him 2 time's that's okay ya not and he replied all fine just fill the visa from and after asking bank details n all and refuse to give token...
Over an hour and half wait to collect our visas even though we were told to go at 3pm. The man at the counter with no hair is rude and couldn't care less about what you need,he only says ,"no yet,sit down and wait". A man had to reebook his flight due to the delay. Took us two trips to be able to get some help. There is a lady, however who is lovely and helpful and made sure we got our visa on time for us to leave Cambodia. She was also helpful over the phone in English.Patience.
This review I wrote after reading other reviews and many similar comments on visa forums. ..to find at the end I admit no real solution, no material one at least. Only suggestions in order to regain a little bit control when things get too rough and useless.
I write this too on personal opinion after years of observation and experiences some being really bad & others pretty cool. So, take it as it is. No offense please on any sides.
To those who still think visaruners have responsability about the outcome of their demand, I can only suggest to look a bit deeper into a system run often by chaos.
There are trends, ups and downs, times with more or less tolerance everywhere in the way administration handels cases but in general the rule is that here are no rules that you can count one 100% like in a country run by the states of law. What one immigration officer will say can be cut down and reversed by the next one 5 minutes later.. Fascinating !
It's a totally arbitrary system, run many more or less important links, where each can have a descision on the good or bad outcome. He or she will very seriously declare: I'm the one on power, who has the last word to let you in or not, or at a lower level to ruin your day. (these are real words from immigration deciders)
What to do about it? Basically nothing as what ever question they ask you, there is no good or bad answer. If one final answer would exist and put you through..T would have to give you right and would lose face. And that is simply never an option. Therefore there are no existing answers..to not real questions.
How does it work: The first minute they see you, your fate has been allready decided! Everything afterwards, hours of time wasting questions, nerve consuming moments is just called the game of power. All the yakyak around the false hope is their inner pleasure to power missuse. No big secret
Ok, when realising complaining in words or letters, if discreet reviews or loud arguments is a dead end. Where to start again?
Many good things can come out of it, first to learn the rules of the Game of Faces, learn how to keep yours without having the guy in charge loosing his...even worth in front of his colleagues which is surely the worst offense to do. Faces is a way of life a philosophy..
Forget the answering, surprise them by knowing how to be in perfect balance and control, lough about it as there is 0 loud argument that wins, Western style, loud, furious..or cynical. Don't answer what has no answer, don't speak too much..a little, at all! Let them do that silly game alone. If you gain respect even a little they might eventually put you through, such great would be their surprise to realise we Visa runners are not such bad people afterall.
Hope ..yes give them hope for us.
Try to have a good common sense, a feet grounded base and a 6th sense to. As not being Asian ourself , what we often think would be an excellent idea to act to solve our problems...well is generally at the opposite of what to do.
Be philosophical, avoid those moments where you feel this won't end up good.
People have been debating about the why"s and how's..(the whereabouts I guess) solutions and whatever you name it Again it's the wrong subject, we generally don't need to do anything wrong to deserve what happens.
Review the 3 basic rules of law, none of which in my opinion fits here as there is for each rule a plan B, a cost, a somebody over the law and as each agent, personal who doesn't agree with the law seems indeed to have the power to change it.
The first of all Rules of Law : Dura Lex Sed Lex ..is Shah Met.
My suggestion, not the most imaginative I admit is: As money is your best ace ...use it to swim with the stream, give agents who's job it is to be intermediary an opportunity to give you a break, so you can eventually do sth more interesting and enjoy your stay in PP, Snoukiville or where ever you will be.
Of cause for all those lucky once with 5star happy issues.. I'm happy for you, seriously I am.
Good service. Extremely prompt. It took 30 minutes to submit documents. The electronic turn is running. In the checkbox of the documents issue a ticket with the number in the queue
Applying for a visa here is pretty straight forward, as the embassy's website clearly explains what you need to apply. However, be aware that you're expected to pay $40 USD while submitting your passport, and not when collecting it. (This was not explained on the website, and surprised me, as Chinese visas are always paid for upon collection.)
There is no printer, computer, or passport photo studio inside the office, so you do need to go to the trouble of getting all your required documents printed prior to coming here. I am honestly not sure that there are blank visa application forms inside.
I dont Know why the people say they Are unfriendly. I did my visa without agency. Before you go to embassy look on the Website what you need for get a visa. So is pretty easy to get it. Nice Service.
I have never had any issue obtaining visas from the embassy whose visa section staff members are friendly to my questions. Note that the main gate got closed down since 2002.
Can not get information about visa restrictions etc. The guy at the reception was very rude, only gives you the info on what documents needed for the visa application. Either you go to the embassy to apply for a visa, or nothing. I wanted to know if I needed one ...
The worst embassy experience I've ever encountered! Every year I need to renew my non-o visa as my husband works in Thailand.
At drop off, they took my paperwork at 8:30am but told me to come back at 3pm to pay because the "right" person wasn't there.
At pick-up, it was even worse. I arrived with my slip at 3pm and was rudely told to "wait." So I did... I sat for an hour and then went back up to the counter and was told to "wait, the boss is not here" and the rude man wouldn't tell me when he'd arrive back.
So, now it's over an hour and I'm still "waiting" and writing this because I have nothing but time! Embassies are never a fun task, but this is absurd and beyond unprofessional... even by 3rd/2nd world standards.
Situated on the left side of Japanese embassy is the Royal Thai Embassy. There is a beautiful big gate facing to the main road Preah Norodom Blvd. The service there is good. Everyone agrees that the consular committees are helpful and friendly.
No frill visa service. Fast and efficient. Morning: submit form with passport, 1 photo and any print of return ticket (e-mail confirmation from airline in my case). +2 working days in afternoon: pick up They ask you for return ticket from Thailand even for single entry tourist visa (SETV). In my case that was well beyond visa valid period and no questions asked. SETV is free of charge until 28/02/2017.
I arrived early and was done fairly quickly with my application for a (Non-Imm. ED) visa. Everyone had to come back at 3pm to pay the visa fees. Applied Mon. morning and the visa was ready Wed. afternoon. It was quick to pick up my passport as well. Pretty painless. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because other Thai Embassies (or Consulate Generals) offer next day visa pick-up. Motorbike parking avail on the sidewalk out front.
Came here to apply for a 60 day tourist visa (USA citizen). The process was EXTREMELY easy. My husband and I came here ourselves (NO VISA AGENT NEEDED). We came at opening and were in and out in less than 5 minutes. We gave our necessary documents (what was stated embassy website), no questions were asked. We arrived two days later at 3:00 PM and again the process was very easy. Our number was called and out the door we went with our new visas.
Arrived 930 clutching passport, application form (we printed at our hotel), picture, proof of flights in and out of Thailand, bank statement and $40. There's a sign saying take a number, but you just walk to a free counter and hand it all over. You get a slip back with a number on (ours was 90) and told to come back two days later at 1500. NOTE: there is a sign on the counter saying passports 1-1000 get their visas in 2 working days, 1001-1500 in 3 days, 1501+ in 4 days. It might be worth going early rather than leaving it till 12. Collection: arrived about 1445. Moment later the man behind the counter tapped his counter and we queued to get our passports back. Took about 2 minutes in queue. Passports handed back and that was it! Visas done.
The man giving out passports afternoon is an ignorant and even rude, told me totally wrong info cost me a lot of money, time and effort,, also papers tick on front are not covering all documents needed for many nationalities and statuses,, u need to go as early morning, take a number in queue and ask the officer himself.. Really very bad experience.
