Routt County Sheriff's Office Review

Although I have had some uncomfortable encounters with the Sheriff's office of Steamboat, I still rate this agency 5 stars.
Yours officers are well trained and respect others/ situations with a touch of personalism in executed in a delicate way.
Every individual whom I have encountered with this office has showed true concern, passion, and dedication to the proper processes of law procedure while still doing all they can to assist.

Thank you for being good. Honest, hard working individuals. You are positive role models in your community. Thank you again

I lived in Routt County for 15 years, I ask the Sheriff if I could do something, I'm a law abiding citizen and didn't want to get in trouble. The sheriff said no problem wayne. I did what I ask. The under Sheriff gave me a felony Ticket, even though I told him the Sheriff said I could do so. the under Sheriff, said the Sheriff would never say that. the Deputy Sheriff was there and said he would have done the same thing. 2.5 years of stress, $10.000 Dollars to go to jury trial for a 2 second decision, not guilty! even the jurors thought he was wrong. That's why I moved out of the county, they need to hire people that listen. worst officer in my lifetime.

The food was amazing. 10/10 would go to jail again.

I had a burglary and theft of over $75,000.00 from my home in 2017. It was reported to the RCSO. No action was taken for over a year. The officer that the case was assigned to failed to or refused to respond to over 20 phone calls and emails requesting an update. I had identified the thieves, furnished their names, addresses and even the location of some of my property. I made a face to face trip to meet with Sheriff Garrett Wiggins and was informed that the officer was terminated and that his investigation was the sorriest that he had ever seen. He promised to assign an investigator. Finally, I was able to meet with the new officer. He was not an investigator and had very limited experience in law enforcement. There was no progress made. Again, after weeks of waiting, I requested an update on any progress. The only response was that he had not had any time to work on the case because he had been training new officers . SORRY AND UNACCEPTABLE EXCUSE! Basically, Wiggins lied to me and has done nothing. Obviously he and his department are a POS!! Another FOUR MONTHS. Have passed and still no response to my request for an update and no recovery of any of my property. Wiggins will not respond to questions about his possible CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS OR RECORD IN FLORIDA . If there were none, he would simply say so. Not even responding to the question is an indication of guilt. Time to sanitize the whole department from the sheriff down. At least we will only have to put up with this sorry, pitiful, unpredictable, and unprofessional department for less than two more years.
And, my property is still not returned and no investigation has been done. What a POS!!

My mother had an accident in July 2019, Deputy Sheriff Jaun Berber was amazing with how he handled all the people involved. Kind, considerate, careful and efficient. Best law enforcement experience one could imagine.
