Fantastic Sunday roast, good size portion, really ...
Fantastic Sunday roast, good size portion, really tasty meat & all the essential trimmings. Staff friendly & helpful, no problems accommodating a buggy. Will definitely be back.

Packed pub on a Tuesday night in January - neither of the open fires lit! Odd. Previous reviewer is right when they say that the "no cash policy" is discriminatory and as such this business, if it has a social conscience, should think again.
Handy for a preconcert drink and bite before going to The Old Church
Best Fish and chips I've had. Ambiance is great. And if you come on a Sunday, the traditional English roast is a must!!!
Warm and comfortable friendly service. Cards only NO CASH. Bit of a pain when managing your finances with cash on holiday.
Very welcoming. Good selection of drinks.
Had some food. Lovely pie. Although the sausage and mash was standard pub fare. Think if the menu improved a bit this pub could really fly
Incompetent staff, very rude to the customers and only concerned about trying to make some money rather than creating an atmosphere or a welcoming environment for customers!
We used to frequent this place on a regular basis but won t be returning and urge others to consider visiting some of the other more welcoming pubs in the area.
My favourite pub in Stoke Newington with a very good food menu. This is a comfortable corner pub where you can watch the world go by and enjoy a good sunday roast washed down with a good selection of real ales or other drinks.
A decent pub with good food at the top of my street.
Was ok, a bit dark and dingy for mid afternoon. It reminded me of the Leaky Cauldron from Harry Potter......
Visited this pub for the first time on Sunday. I can appreciate how difficult it is to run a pub during Corona but I felt as if the staff lacked any level of service. They couldn't even be nice to us on the most basic level. As soon as we walked into the pub the man I can only assume was the manager was snappy and rude to us without any cause as we had only been there for about 30 seconds.
My friend has a serious nut allergy and when we asked if there were nuts in the dish she wanted to order the manager snapped back that he "didn't know" and would not go clarify with the chef when we asked him to.
The food was very average and we had to wait nearly and hour for it as they had run out of potatoes. It was not worth the wait. They made us pay for the meal before we received our food and I suspect this was due to the fact they knew they could not deliver either on service or food quality.
I am not one to write negative reviews normally, especially in these tough times. Just felt like my friends birthday was ruined because of this pubs needless rudeness. There are a lot better pubs in Stoke Newington, would avoid this one if you can.
I was in Rose and Crown Pub today for the Sunday Roast. The staff was amazing and very kind. The Sunday Roast was so delicious! Definitely will be there next time.
Good beer, good atmosphere but only take cards for payment
Due to current restrictions we sat outside the staff came our and dried off the table and chairs because if the rain. Again due to the weather we didn't stay long but the short time we were there... we liked it
My wife and I stayed 12 nights and had an amazing experience. Jola and all of the staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. In addition to this the rooms are very nice with real, sturdy furniture, excellent bathroom fixtures and comfortable and clean beds. Every morning we had the choice of a full English breakfast included in the room price and served in the little guest dining area with views of Stoke Newington. Though outside of central London, to 73 and 476 buses will take you right there within 20-30 minutes. You also have all of the fantastic restaurants on Church Street to choose from and the beautiful Abney Park Cemetery and Clissold Park within a few minutes walk. This is the only place I will stay when visiting London! For a combination of price, location and amenities it cannot be beat!
Great place for a drink or food. If you need an area for a buffet style party these guys do it with ease
Nice ambience and good beer selection but Sunday lunch was a real disappointment.
Great place. Somehow unchanged over the years, so its warming, welcoming and friendly
A typically English "chic and cool" hotel very welcome and the room is really perfect. About 30 minutes from Oxford Street. The breakfast is very generous. Only problem, a little noisy but after a day of visiting, no problem sleeping. The bedding is fine. I recommend this place
Lovely old wood panelled pub with real fires and candles to create a cosy atmosphere. Pretty good food but not gastro standard, come here for a drink and a chat with friends. Very popular quiz on Tuesdays as well.
Delicious food. We eaten there many times and were never disappointed! Best pub in the area!
Terrible service, long hairs in two of the meals - like embedded in the veggies, staff didn't want to engage with us, hid away and ignored us when it was clear we weren't happy, the guy we complained to just kind of sulked away, not great customer service skills there, said 'we're normally better than this'... cool.
Have had some lovely food here before so was disappointed when i brought other people in this time round. Tbh, service wise, the manger guy is a bit wet generally.
It was fine afew of us sat outside after work service with a smile
A very family pub with great food and great service
Went to The Rose &Crown for a wake. Stephan and his team were amazing. We had an area cordoned off. Fabulous food and they could not do enough for us. A really lovely pub with a great atmosphere.
My friend's local pub... apparently one of the few remIning listed pubs in London.
Interior is stunning.
Can't comment on food.
Don t go to this pub if you just want a drink, they only cater for people wanting food. I was ejected from a free table by a waiter who asked me if I d booked a table. I was surprised and said I hadn t but asked if it was a pub where people could just have a drink. He said that of course it was but that all the tables were booked for food. I asked where I could sit with my partner to simply have a drink and he said there was no-where and then made us leave. In summary, if you want to sit in a pub and have some (what looks to be pretty mediocre food judging by how much food was left on the plates of the couple who had just left the table before us), and be ejected from your seats as soon as you ve eaten, then go for it. I definitely wouldn t go here just for a drink.
Great funky/traditional decor with roaring fires and they love dogs! Fab friendly staff and beers. Quiz is very good too. Pub grub!
This is my favourite pub in Stoke Newington. The food is good and not overpriced, staff is very friendly and fast. Best part is that they are very nice with my dog!
Food was appalling... Dry, tasteless. I had vegetarian platter.
Staff were nice and there are big tables for bigger groups.
This isn t the best roast dinner in the world. But it s pretty damn good. Excellent value and totally consistent from lunchtime all the way through to late evening. It rarely takes more than 10 mins to come and there are loads of choices - chicken, beef, pork, lamb and vege
Came for the highly praised food which was rather standard pub fare... the redeeming factor for me was the staff which were attentive, warm and funny.
The staff here are lovely, and the quiz is great fun - though be warned! There are a few teams who come weekly, and they are fierce competition. Sunday roast is absolutely delish; I'm a big fan of the pine nut vegetarian option.
A decent sunday roast and a nice place to spend a day in
I liked it here in the pub, it was large enough to accommodate us. My sister stayed in here whilst over from ireland and the rooms were great. Bright. Very clean and breakfast room was nice.lovely atmosphere and well used pub.mixture of ages here, which was nice.
Is a exelente and beautiful place in London the service the rooms and the location is make a exelente convinatio para una esta pasada por Londres))))
Ordered a glass of mulled wine & a beer, after tasting the dreadful syrupy flavourless mulled wine I returned to the bar and said it was rather bad, the bar person replied your not the first who have said that it is bad...I asked for a beer but was still charged. where has the customer service gone ?
Great pub - traditional homely boozer with friendly staff and blazing fire in the winter. Also lots of fun on Christmas day after a brisk walk around Clissold Park.
Sunday roast is delicious and left over tatties and gravy are placed on the bar after service for customers to help themselves to! The falafel burger in brioche bun with chips is to die for.
Stayed here as part of a wedding party. Very friendly staff and very accommodating. Delicious breakfasts. Would definitely visit again when next in the area.
Card only now so I guess that's our relationship over. I'll spend my cash elsewhere.
Sunday Lunch is Ok, if you like raw vegetables. Not up to its usual standard. Can't get the potatoes right either! Nice ambience and friendly staff, good beer, so not all bad.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good choice of pub food and proper range of craft beers
I do not know how the rest of the food will be, but the hamburger was normal, neither very tasty nor anything that could stand out.
A nice pub, looks super old in a good way. I like it as it s not as hectic as other pubs around the area. You can have a few pints and talk without having to shout. It s always relatively busy but never too much that you can t find a seat.
This pub thoroughly deserves a five star review.
It's a traditional pub, with a really beautiful interior.
It has a strong selection of drinks, and a great pub food menu.
The service is spot on, simple friendly and welcoming, both the pub and it's team are dog friendly.
I had the pie for my lunch, but would also recommend the Sunday roast as well.
The food is simple tasty and more than affordable, unlike some other venues in the surrounding area!
A must visit for a relaxed lunch, a date night, or groups.
I understand it's a very busy pub .But come on the food was cold when it arrived 35-40 minutes after ordering .The lamb was like eating shoe leather and the pork was pretty much the same never again would I eat here
As always being very safe. Service considerate and timely. Staff lovely and pretended to remember me, whether they did or not. Thanks.
Great boutique accommodation with breakfast. Friendly helpful staff.
Grat food great staff will be back steak and ale pie was so good possibly the best I ve ever had cashless pub
Not to sure about that
But great service and wonderful food would highly recommend it here
The best local boozer in Stoke Newington. The food and drinks are excellent. Fires too. Dog and kid friendly. It caters for all.
Great pub - relaxed atmosphere, and perfect for a Sunday afternoon walk in the park after a filling roast.
Classic little pub, right by clissold Park, lovely landlords and nice roasts. Selection of beer is decent. What more would one want from a local pub?
Great B&B. Friendly, efficient, comfortable, all you need
Good food, good beers and good atmosphere. Everything a pub should be.
The WiFi password had been rubbed out and the barman didn't know what it was. But the Tribune was good. Oh, and is a contactless only pub! That's Stoke Newington for you.
Good selection of beers. Fast service and polite staff.
Great local pub, Sunday roast is great but make sure you get there early as they tend to run out of the more popular dishes towards the evening. Nice selection of wines.
Am lothe to shout about this place as love how it is so unspoilt...roaring fires, good food, great selection of drinks, lovely b and b rooms. Just perfick but don't go there cos I don't want it spoilt. Ps new years eve is great there !!
Very decent vegan nut roast. Not the best but quite delicious
Card only now so I guess that's our relationship over. I'll spend my cash elsewhere.
