Food was fantastic, including wonderful season specials. Side dishes are a la carte, great way to sample yummy veggies we had kalini, brussels sprouts, and corn. The plates were picked clean at the end of the meal.

Ate here many times when I lived in CLT. Always guaranteed a good meal / dining experience. Two weeks ago was in town and took two work associates to dinner here. Their first time. To say they were impressed would be a gross understatement. Food was awesome. Service was impeccable. Highly recommend Roosters.

Roosters wings are some of the best dry rub Wings I've had , the mac and cheese, and also the grilled brussel sprouts a winner, I highly recommend this place, then walk one block down to mertz cafe for a piece of homemade cake for dessert , a complete night

The food was good. I'm not much for upscale dining, but it wasn't so upscale that it put me off. Our glasses were never dry and the waitress visited our table frequently. I will ads that it isn't the most cost effective place to eat.

Went to Roosters for lunch with some coworkers of mine at 12 p.m. We called a couple weeks in advance to let them know we were coming with about 18 people but really it ended up being 15. We were assured that we would be taken care of by 2 servers and diligently because we only had an hour window for lunch. We waited about 5 minutes for our drink orders to be placed (mind you most of us had water so this was not a hard request to fill). Then we waited another 20 minutes to place our orders, (the time is now 12:25) and that was the last time we saw our servers until our orders came out. Our orders didn't come out until 12:55. I had to take my food togo. Which took another 5-10 minutes to have it boxed up. Not once did they inform us on how long our food was taking or why. Our servers did not come check up on us. The only thing they were worried about was the bill when I was leaving. Now I should mention that my turkey sandwich is good but I could get the same thing at Chili's or Hickory Tavern and wait a lot less time. My fries were cold when I got them but I didn't have enough time to try to get fresh ones. Needless to say, unless you have two hours and a whole lot of patience, I would not recommend this place!

I would like to mention that I have been in the service industry for about 8 years with my majority of expericence in serving/waiting tables. There are not many places I've had this bad of experience with but this one takes the cake.

***ALLERGY WARNING REVIEW*** We just left the rest...

***ALLERGY WARNING REVIEW*** We just left the restaurant about 30 minutes ago and my fiancee is already back at the hotel incredibly sick.
She has a severe gluten (Celiac's) and dairy allergy (I have neither), which we alerted the restaurant clearly and politely a few times-- to which they seemed knowledgeable and used to, considering they even had a gluten-free menu.
--appetizer--
Our first issue came with the mussels that we shared as an appetizer. They said they could make it without butter and without the ciabatta-- a different waiter than our own brought it to our table with a nice piece of toasted bread on top (our waiter should have handled all food as he was aware of allergy). To those with Celiac's, you will know that just taking the piece of bread off of the plate does not make it gluten-free, as cross-contamination is still just as dangerous. They quickly brought us a new one and insisted they just gave us the wrong plate-- there was what looked like a smudge of flour on the dish as if the bread had just been taken off, however we believed them that it was a new dish without the cross-contamination or butter in the sauce (with her current symptoms now I am not so sure). The mussels were still very good.
--entrees--
With our entrees, we both ordered from the gluten-free menu so that my fiancee could taste from my plate as well, assured there would be no butter and gluten-free. Hangar steak and beef short rib, inherently GF and easy to make without butter. One bite in, we decided to ask again (not wanting to be rude since we just had the mussels issue 10 min prior) and our waiter took one look and said that was butter all around both plates. Not blaming him but at this point in the night knowing you're serving someone with a severe allergy, he could have looked at the plate before bringing it and apparently very easily determined it was butter. He took the hangar steak back and brought one with a sauce with no butter (honestly better tasting) but I decided to keep my short rib with butter and just not have her taste any. She was already sick by the time she finished her no-butter plate. Hangar steak was very good, short rib was a bit fatty but cooked nicely. Neither one worth the price for how small the portion was, both a la carte and vegetable sides are $7-$11 each.
--service--
Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating the whole night, and although he could have caught all 3 dishes being messed up, I do not think it was his fault as the kitchen clearly does not have the allergy training that their staff and menus insinuate. I told our waiter before he brought the new hangar steak that she would be very sick tonight, however none of the messed up items (both overpriced, mussels expensive but not as bad) were removed from our bill or discounted. I do not think this was the right way for the restaurant to handle this however I do not feel that even the 10% tip left was justified.
She is currently completely out of commission and I am very upset that fast-food joints can handle her allergies but a $25 for 6oz piece of meat restaurant can't. Would have gone for grilled nuggets at chick-fil-a on the way home to fill our bellies but she was too sick.

Allergy - 0/5
Service - fine, disappointed in how they handled contaminating my fiancee
Smell from outside - 5/5
Food - a hair above average, mussels were very good hangar steak was good, short rib not as good as they made it sound, (friends ordered burger and pork sandwich, said it was fine)

2/5 stars overall

Amazing food. You could truly order anything and be happy. I had duck confit with scalloped potatoes as a side. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Great service too. Can't go wrong with this one.

Wow! Excellent food and excellent waiter. We sat at the chef s counter where we watched the food prep while we ate. Such fun! Highly recommend and will definitely return to try more great dishes.

We loved it. The food was great, portion size perfect. We had short rib, bbq chicken, roasted corn, and au gratin potatoes. All were great. All is ala carte. The sides easily feed 2. Bbq is vinegar based but has a nice sweetness. Prices are certainly higher than say typical chains but for 100 we got dinner, drinks, and dessert. Dessert was great as well. It was not super busy, we got there 5ish on a Wednesday but is was filling up as we left. Was quiet enough for good conversational voices. We will go again.

the wait staff is awesome, the food is over the top in flavor and presentation. We sat at the food bar, where we watched the chefs prepare the meals. Fun! My Short Rib meat entre was melt in your mouth incredible. Thanks Kieth for a great dining experience.

We just didn't feel like the food was THAT special that it warrants that price and long wait. I am disabled and insisted on using my walker for this special night out, which was a bad choice on my part, not thinking about the distances to walk even though the parking garage was not even a block away from the the Trans Siberian Orchestra show. We didn't have a reservation, but the did offer a seat at the bar, which I was more than happy to take. We honestly had no clue of what most of the dishes were and our waiter never offered any assistance. Since I was still in the earlier months of recovery from a very risky craniotomy to remove a tumor from the center of my brain, I didn't have much of an appetite, so stuck with a salad. I will say, that if you go, sit at the bar and enjoy the show of the chefs cooking. Parking is in the same building which is the Bank of America building.

One of my go to restaurants in Charlotte. The Food portions are good and everything tastes fresh. The chicken is my first choice, but everything is great. Bring friends so you order more sides and get dessert. The coconut cake and bread pudding are worth enjoying.

Had a great experience and wonderful food. The wait staff was very attentive. Wine selection was very good. The waiter recommend the duck, but was out when we placed the order. Got the chicken instead and it was good. I recommend ordering sides to share amount the table. My two favorites were the onion rings and the grits. Go for desert and order the coconut cake. Maybe the best I've had.

Go here frequently for lunch. Service is great along with the food. Definitely recommend the salmon cakes w/succotash when they have the special, along with the goat cheese ravioli with Bolognese sauce. The macaroni and cheese is decadent and a calorie buster. Can get packed at lunch so a lot of times sit at the counter but then you get treated to the chefs working the prep area, so not bad. Wish the high chairs were more comfortable though.

The staff was helpful and nice as I had two toddlers with me. The food was great. The chicken was moist. The atmosphere was relaxing. I will need to go back a few times because the menu had a great selection and I would love to try everything.

Myself and my date had a reservation for a Saturday night. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. After that, the service was a bit spotty. It took much longer than it should have to get our drink order taken and we constantly had to ask for water refills. My Gin cocktail was good, and we had strip steak, beef rib, fingerling potatoes, and Mac and cheese which were all very good. For dessert we had Apple Pie, which sad to say, was a huge disappointment. I've had better apple pie from Harris Teeter. We finished and still had to wait a while before anyone brought our check. All said and done, we spent most of our evening at Roosters waiting to be helped. It wasn't all that busy, so I'm not sure what the problem was. As a side note, the decor was pretty neat; very southern chic. Ultimately, not a terrible spot by any means. But with all the lovely places to dine in Charlotte, Rooster's just failed to give me any reason to come back.

Unbelievable food. I had the short ribs with the au-grautin potatoes and sweet peas. The waitress was super knowledgeable about the food and gave great service in general.

The atmosphere is awesome since you can see the kitchen which is neat. The noise levels aren t so high that you can t carry on a conversation easily. The wine and beer selection is quite extensive.

Kind of pricey but you get top quality food for the money. Would highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience. Wait staff made great suggestions through the whole meal. There were all kinds of charcuterie options for a starter, from the garden options were great and everything was a daily specisl. Beef short rib was for tender and the duck entree was amazing

What a great place! Service was spot-on, friendly and very attentive. Food was even better. We had four people and have everything from salmon, to rotisserie chicken to pizza to you name it. You have GOT to try the fried corn. Yum! Warm atmosphere and very cozy.

The food and service we're beyond belief! I haven't enjoyed a meal or service like that for years. We were treated like family and no request was left unserviced.
I did't know you could still get treated like this in a restaurant!
Hats off to our waiter Keith and the GM, Mike, simply awesome guy's!
Thanks from Mike, Adrianne, Jim and Ray!!!?

Good food with a nice atmosphere! Expect to pay a bit here (entrees from $20ish-40, a la carte, with sides about $8 each), but man is the food good. Our table had the duck, cod, and a burger and everyone was impressed. Our waiter told us all about his favorites and provided great service.

Had a 5-star business lunch at Rooster s today. The service is stellar. Our small group shared the calamari appetizer. I had the grilled salmon. The waiter graciously permitted me to order the grits from the shrimp & grits as my side. Home run, Rooster s! The fried calamari is THE BEST had in the Carolinas. Grilled salmon was tasty, grilled to perfection. And, their version of the southern grits recipe, served in a little cast iron pan, is creamy, slightly cheesy, with fresh corn, bacon and andouille sausage bits, is PURE HEAVEN. Lunch pricing is on par with any of the Uptown competitors offering front:back wait staff and perfect table service combined with trendy decor, upscale lighting. Highly recommend!

Uptown or SouthPark, Rooster's Wood-fired Kitchen is one of my family's go-to favorite restaurants. We've never tried a dish we didn't love and try to duplicate at home in our own kitchen! Great food, an extensive wine menu and wonderful customer service. I highly recommend!

I have gluten and soy allergies. My food was delicious and I didn't get sick. It's a bit pricey for the portions, but in the end it tasted good and I didn't get sick so to me it's worth it. Service was good and restaurant is clean with nice atmosphere.

Always satisfied with my visits to this restaurant. The menu is amazing and the food is always great. I love the wide assortment of choices on the menu. One day you could have Lion Fish on the menu and the next you could have mushroom stuffed ravioli. The cheese selection is superb. Service? Always great. I find myself always choosing this place when I seriously want to branch out for something different and try some other restaurants. I just know I will be satisfied when I come here.

The only thing I didn't like was the bbq sauce on the chicken... strong vinegar based.. but it is the south!
