A little on the "pricey" side, but the food and service are good, so I keep coming back! The building is split between Rockwell and Republic. Rockwell is a good time for your friends. Republic is a bit more intimate for that date night. I've never been disappointed.
Enjoyed every bite. Good quality food, great service, no complaints and they are open late.
Atmosphere, Staff, Happy Hour, Food, Drinks ( All of it ! )
Loved the atmosphere and the staff. Red wine sangria was amazing! Would absolutely return
Went here for a date night with my bf last night. The staffs here was so friendly & helpful. The atmosphere is great. The food.... we ordered the New York Strip rare and it came out perfectly. It was big enough for us to shared. So, it was worth the price we paid. The drinks there was amazing too. I ordered the Cucumber Melon Martini , which was refreshing and doesn't have a strong after taste of the alcohol. For the appetizer we ordered the salty squid which was good as well. I'm a seafood lover, so I ordered their oysters there. It was a little pricey for me for the size they came out. It was just a little to small for me. But overall, I would recommend this place.
Menu seems to have an identity crises. Food was meh. I asked for pad Thai, they no longer carried it although it was still on the menu. Ordered scallops instead which were beautifully prepared but loaded with unnecessary sauce, so strange. The wait staff was great, super friendly but the cost vs actual delivered food was unfortunately not worth it. Probably be a long time before we go back--never say never. I wanted to love this place.
Went here for brunch, very good food. Had the pineapple pork belly skillet very good. My fellow diners also enjoyed the food, and the bloody mary bar.
I love the atmosphere, the new digital menus, happy hour food and drinks!!! Staff are fun and friendly!!!
Fefe was an amazing server. The sushi and drinks were well balanced.
The food was amazing and the staff was so friendly! Our Waiter was very pleasant and friendly! We loved the whole atmosphere of the place. Super clean and an overall awesome experience for us!! Would highly recommend!
I ordered the sticky chicken fried rice and my husband ordered the spicy chicken sandwich..they have amazing food and a huge list of drinks. Must try the sweet potatoes appitizer.if you havent never been here and love good alcohol this has it and great food and thr waitress was very pleasant.
It's pricey and everything is just barely above "ok"
Good spicy chicken n waffles! Great liquid brunches too!
I will never return, rude staff who care more about other people's opinions than my own health
Cool place, big upstairs and leads over into the other building, nice selection of food
Rockwell's has good specials. That's the most important thing. Their food is pretty good, but not five stars good. It is also rather expensive for what one gets so shop the specials to make this place worth it! The ambiance is very warm and inviting and the staff is friendly.
Great happy hour food and drinks. From 3-6pm they offer $3.25 featured craft beers and more. The sushi is also very good, especially at only $6.
I have enjoyed eating at Rockwell Republic. The food is good and there are a lot of seating options. Service is also excellent.
Great lighting, mood is set upon entry of the restaurant. Great food, great staff. All around great experience
Our server was adorable and wonderful (I don't recall his name but he recommended the sleeping monkey mule and I was not disappointed!) Drinks were great and I never felt rushed to leave. Great experience overall.
Best Moscow Mule in Grand Rapids. If you have a sweet tooth I highly recommend you try the cookie skillet.
The food and drink selection is fantastic with a variety of options like sushi to pulled pork sandwhiches. There are two sides to this restaurant one is a more happening louder place for groups and the other is quieter with a bar I pictured for dates or business meetings. Good place
Rockwells is always a good time when downtown. A must see in GR
The sangria is amazing! I feel that the food is a little overpriced, the menu is limited, and not food I typically enjoy eating. The environment is great though and the drinks are good so it's one of my go to bars for drinks.
Went there for dinner on New years Eve the sushi and drinks were great finished the dinner with tuna sashimi and nigiri.
Favorite weekend lunch spot!! The food, the drinks, and the wait staff are all superb!! Me and some friends meet here as often as possible and with a $3.00 cosmopolitan from 12-5 You can't beat it!!
Great place to eat. Enjoyed the environment. Good service and interesting menu choices. Will not hesitate to visit again.
No printed menus, the online menu doesn't work. Could not see the price. When we asked for menus the brought us two tablets. Kid menus on the menu. The server and host didn't seem to welcome there. Ten minutes in they hadn't taken our drink orders and gave glasses of water for the 4, 5, and 7 year old.
cool old building fixed up . great atmosphere good service not a great area feel safer going during daylight
My friend, my fiance, and I went there one Thursday night. We ordered a couple appetizers which were good like the beer cheese but the rice on the sushi was too wet. It seemed like whomever was making it wet their hands too much in the process of rolling it. I'll keep going to Maru or Ju for sushi. We ordered our meals which my chicken tasted really tender and good. The sangria wasn't bad either. I wouldn't let this be your first stop for sushi.
Oh and $6 for a tiny 2-3 oz jar of creme brulee is insane. It was good but not that good.
Great martinis and sushi. The service can be hit or miss.
Very cool old building. Awesome atmosphere. Top notch customer service. Beautiful food! Parking is hard but worth it. Could always Uber there.
Went for Sunday brunch and Bloody Mary bar. Biscuits and gravy were very good.
Decent sushi, there's much better sushi in the area. The tortellini was mediocre. Bravas were average, nothing like anything authentic. We went off of the waiters recommendations for everything, nothing impressive and not worth $75.
Good food and our server was good, but it took a while to get our food and some of it was cold.
Less than impressive hospitality from the inattentive female bartender last night. And 4/7 oysters were crunchy? Like I was eating tiny pieces of the shells with it, even if I scooped them out. Never have I had a crunchy oyster before, and never again will I pick Rockwell's for an oyster craving.
Great spot, great service.....good food. Would come here again. New York strip was good....not the best steak I've ever had but a good steak. Chicken lettuce wraps were also just okay...the chicken was breaded which we all weren't expecting but it was still good. Overall, I'd recommend to friends and family.
A great hang out place. Can be a little pricey for what you get but the atmosphere is great. Still need to explore the patio area but not a bad place to go to for dinner.
Nothing beats sharing a pitcher of sangria (on special on Wednesdays!) with friends on the patio. Everything is delicious and the specials are great.
Really tasty sushi. Happy hour deals are spectacular. Everything I've had here is wonderful and the staff is always friendly.
Good food! Got a free dessert for birthday as well.
The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is great! The club sandwich with their five dragon sauce is amazing!!
Their happy hour for sushi and sangrias have become a favorite for gatherings with friends! Also, try the sticky chicken! Very friendly staff, making reservations is a good idea.
Ive been here several times and I love the vibe and food here. I highly recommend Happy Hour weeknights after 10pm.
***came back to edit this because my 3 stars was an honest mistake, gotta love touch screens. Thank you!
Love Rockwell s porch, and their unique menu. Typically a long wait to get in.
Very good food. Super friendly service and a great atmosphere
Delicious food, friendly service. Menus are on electronic tablets, where you can see actual pictures of the food items! The atmosphere is classy and low-lit. The food took quite some time to come out but was well worth the wait. I would definitely go here again!
Great casual spot. Inventive menu. Love the charcuterie board. Nice taps. Super vibe.
Great lunch and good variety of food and beers. Very good service.
The BEST brussel sprouts ever!! Great happy hour and place to catch up with friends after work!
I came here after hearing quite a few praises of this place, and I was a little disappointed. The service was good, but the atmosphere and the food weren't anything to write home about. I had 3 other people with me, and we all agreed that our dishes were not worth the price. Sometimes paying a little extra for the atmosphere can balance out with the quality of the food, but not in this case. The decor isn't really anything special or unique, and I was slightly annoyed with the fact that most (if not all) of the seats were bar-height, including the booths. It was worth a try, but I will not go out of my way to go back.
It was going to be out first time at Rockwell republic. Instead, the hostess turned us away claiming it wasn t safe to have our daughter with us. Her example of it not being safe was a tray could fall on her head. What a ridiculous excuse. It was only 8:20pm and we had seen a boy sitting at dinner with his family by the door. Not sure why we were actually turned away from the restaurant except it was very discriminatory.
recommend! Was good but drink pours a slight for what you pay. Switched to wine, but tab was still expensive for only 5 people. Try and hit the specials.
Our server Mikala was great. Such a positive attitude. The tables are high tops and some table were very small with backless stools that I personally find uncomfortable. The food was average. The acoustics were not good. I found it hard to hear people at my table.
This is my favorite restaurant downtown. The menu is unique but offers something for everyone. The service is great, and the portions are good. I love eating on the deck.
It was a busy Sunday brunch so the food came out after 50min and it was even slightly overcooked (burnt toast and burnt chicken). Food was brought out a plate at a time so we still had to wait for each other so we can eat together. The server was not super attentive and our empty glasses were sitting on the table the whole time without asking for a refill or another. Drinks were good and it has a nice atmosphere. Overall the food was good and the prices were appropriate. Will give it another chance, I think just something was off that day.
A Grand Rapids staple. I like their pork tacos. They serve a little bit of everything - sushi, burgers, tacos, etc. All of it is done fairly well. Go during Happy hour.
I have not tried the food yet, but the cocktails are very good!
We waited for a table . It was a Sunday afternoon. This was our first visit. Our Sushi was ok ,nothing spectacular. Husband also had biscuits and gravy he said it was good. The waitress we had was lacking in attentiveness we had to continually ask for drink refills more than once. The food nor experience warrants a second visit.
Don't listen to the bad reviews. I'm a huge sushi snob and the sushi was AMAZING! The taco was good too!
The food was very good and the service was very good. Not crazy about the bloody Mary though. Had a bitter taste to it
Happy Hour is always worth it - delicious sushi & a mixed pitcher of sangria is the best, especially in the summer or springtime when you can get out on the patio!
Rockwell Republic is one of our GR staples. Quality food and staff.
We started with wagyu bruschetta with goat cheese- it was the special of the day.......unbelievable flavor and a somewhat wild concept, the baguette could have been toasted a bit longer so it wouldn't get as soggy but would highly recommend. My friend got 2 different sushi rolls and was very pleased with both and I had the hot chicken sandwich.
I'm always jazzed to eat and drink here. Also, finding the bathroom is an adventure.
Something about that place rubbed me the wrong way. It was ok, but not somewhere I would highly recommend. I got the thai shrimp, and it tasted like someone just mixed up some sodium and a little bit of spice not good at all. I ate less then half and the waiter didnt ask me If there was anything wrong. The atmosphere was good though, otherwise i would give 1 star.
Shrimp and grits will change your life. Sangria is also on point.
The tacos are delicious, the portions are large, the food is fresh and the customer service is impressive.
This place would be really good if you did not have a view of the homeless across the street. Great food and great drinks though. I don't feel safe going here at night.
