Rivers Edge Elementary Review

I went to this school from 2000-2006 and I loved it. Best school ever !

My daughter started her kindergarten year at this school 2015-2016.
It was a nightmare from the very first week she started attending this school. The communication skills from the principle to the teacher to the front office staff is horrific! My daughter was not only pushed with the common core curriculum, but I as a parent was trying to keep up with the fast pace speed and also re-learn this way of learning. When i contacted the school for any concerns i was treated with a cold shoulder. After having compications with my daughter's teacher i requested that she be transferred into another classroom with a different teacher. The vice principle at that time told me that was not possible. I felt as if i was stuck and had no options to further my daughter's experience being in school. After all this... here we are a week from the end of the school year and they neglect having a graduation for the kindergarten students. My daughter asks me why she doesn't get a ceremony when she has seen 2 of her cousins walk across the stage from two different schools. My advise as a parent is to stay away from this school at all costs!

A child on my son's bus knowingly brought a scissor with him to cut my child's hair because he was not happy with the way it looked. My son crying ran into the school and went right to Ms. Gardner who processed to send him on his way to class never calling me about this. My son was put back on the bus later on with the same kid still with the scissor in his procession. The police were called the following morning when I brought my son to school the following day to review bus footage. Our lovely principal decided to only suspend the child from the bus and not school. WHAT!! Fuming in PSL, let's get this out and have both there jobs. Do you want these people standing up for your child. My child is afraid and has been extremely upset and thinks that there is no one to turn to or trust anymore.

I have been in contact with the school regarding an urgent emergency situation with my daughter. The staff wasn't helpful and the principal took a week to return my phone call. I was calling the school 2 weeks straight and not getting any answers. I won't be returning my child to this school due to the staff not giving a crap about my child or her welfare.
