About Riverarts
RiverArts: Inspiring Communities Through Art
RiverArts is a non-profit organization that has been inspiring Hudson River communities in lower Westchester County to come together through art for over half a century. The organization strives to connect artists with audiences through exhibition, performance, conversation, and education. RiverArts believes in the power of art to express, transform, and bring joy to our lives and our community.
The organization serves artists and arts lovers of all ages. Their signature programs include exhibitions, performances, workshops, classes, lectures and more. They offer opportunities for artists to showcase their work in various mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media.
One of the unique aspects of RiverArts is their commitment to bringing art into the community. They believe that everyone should have access to art regardless of their background or financial situation. To achieve this goal they organize events such as open studios where visitors can meet local artists in their own studios; pop-up galleries where local businesses host temporary exhibitions; public art installations that beautify public spaces; concerts featuring local musicians; theater productions featuring local actors; poetry readings by local poets; film screenings by local filmmakers and much more.
RiverArts also offers educational programs for children and adults alike. Their classes cover a wide range of topics including drawing & painting techniques; printmaking & bookbinding skills; digital photography & video editing skills etc.
In addition to these programs RiverArts also hosts an annual fundraiser called "Artists on Location". This event brings together over 50 professional artists who paint en plein air (outdoors) throughout the Rivertowns area over a weekend in September. The paintings are then exhibited at an auction where attendees can bid on them with proceeds going towards supporting RiverArts' mission.
Overall RiverArts is an essential part of the cultural fabric of lower Westchester County's Hudson River communities. It provides opportunities for people from all walks of life to come together and experience the transformative power of art. Whether you are an artist looking to showcase your work, a lover of the arts looking for inspiration or simply someone who wants to be part of a vibrant community, RiverArts has something for everyone.
