Has gym stuff and a toilet the misses used while pregnant.
Has gym stuff and a toilet the misses used while pregnant.
they have a machine that dose almost every thing, crisps, chocolate bars, fizzy drinks, it's fantastic.
It's a very good leisure centre with lots to offer for all!!
Awful. Only one class a week I can attend due to disability which is cancelled for the summer. Staff unhelpful and some of the comments and statements about disability were more suitable for a very un PC 70 sot com except it's not funny
A brilliant place to lose our kids for a few hours. Take them swimming and then with the soft play it makes a great morning, with its location near Winchester city centre and the river walk it perfect exersize and peaceful walking.
Pleasant staff nice pool went to a private function was well laid out
A public pool on the weekend only, tried to take my daughter swimming after school, had to wait till 8pm because of private lessons.
Been going there 28 years and although I have fun with friends the place needs a refurbishment 20 years ago.
Was very clean only visit soft play but kids enjoyed it
The gym here is OK, limited weights section but good cardio section, I haven't tried the classes so I can't comment on them but they have a variety of different classes available. The service I personally received on the service desk was rude and felt judging. However the lady I spoke to about memberships was really kind and professional. It's OK for basic gym workouts, however doesn't have the feel of a happy gym environment for me, it felt a little cold.
Go there every week with my little boy for toddlers groups and such its brilliant
Loving all the classes and the instructors are amazing without exception! Challenging but always motivating and able to put a smile on everyone's face. At the end of the day exercising should be fun and you're definitely not missing out on that in the classes :)
A great venue, in the dark, for the annual torchlight procession, bonfire and fireworks.
Always a good experience, good facilities in the gym and swimming area with a nice viewing deck and cafe if you're waiting.
I highly recommend a trip to the leisure center, the facilities are excellent but the most reliable and outstanding quality is the customer service of the staff, credit where it's due
If you want to get fit this is a good place to start
Grotty, rusty building. Cold showers, dirty changing rooms.
My three year old and I use it because there's little other options locally, I find it frustrating - I don't know about its other facilities but from a swimming perspective it's a pretty poor effort. The changing rooms regularly smell worse than pub toilets and the floors can be slick with muck. The temperature of the water is different every week and the ambient temperature is very cold. You get the feeling that the pool staff would all rather be at home than at work and they use a very poorly thought out system to manage the entrance to the pool. I would highly recommend that they engage with a consultation service to analyse there services. Really poor show.
A lot of bad reviews and I am not sure why?...
I regularly use the swimming pool and hire courts for badminton, indoor football etc and all aspects of the centre are fine that I have seen.
Excellent adults swimming improver lessons. Teaching a senior breast stroke swimmer to do the front crawl for the first time is not easy. Instructor Jan Dunne has done a great job. Always encouraging, helpful and patient.
Fun giant inflatable session in the pool on Saturday afternoons absolutely NO fun at all. Queuing on the side of the pool, 2 allowed on inflatable at any one time means hardly any time in the water or indeed on the inflateable!
Loved it great day my Girlfriend's second 10km. Would like to say great job to the stewards and staff at river park for the parking toilets and keeping people safe i no there where alot of angry motorists but that fid not spoil the fun and laughs and memories we had and made. 5 star from me. Beautiful river views.
Generally worn out and dirty. It's a functional leisure centre but much more could be done to keep the changing rooms clean in particular during busy times.
A well run pool, properly set up lanes. Venue a little old but reasonably well maintained and clean.
Been there for years is now to be moved to be made bigger and more modern
the management want to get there act together.the gents toilets had no hand towels and the hand dryers were not working and that was from about 11.30 in till 4 .00pm.the area were the antique was was very cold and I wad there from 7.00am.untill 5.00pm.len
Swimming lessons like I remember when I was young. Excellent Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes on Wednesday evenings..
Good sports facility loads to do, all the gym equipment up to date.
Appalling. I have been a member of gyms for twenty years and this is the worst. Lots of staff to sell memberships. Equipment frequently broken. Tiny and packed free weights area. Extremely expensive as they force you to pay for things you don't use, pool, classes etc. Awful. Avoid.
In need of a little renovation but the swimming lessons are excellent
It's not the best leisure centre I've ever used but it's fine! The staff are friendly.
Great gym but changing room is to small to get changed not enough benches to sit and put ones socks and shoes on.
It is also becoming increasingly difficult to park anywhere near the River Park Leisure Centre when I did manage to find a parking space yesterday 15/5/19 I came back to grass cuttings all up the side of the car and scratches where the council had used a strimmer to cut the grass. The council should have cone the area off for safety and to avoid damage to public vehicles
changing rooms on pool side are always in a dirty and smelly condition.
Went for a swim with my preschooler. Warm enough for little ones in the teaching pool, good changing and showering facilities. Clean and friendly. We had fun
Despite a new leisure centre on the cards this one still offers a great variety of things to do and you can relax after with a coffee and snack in the cafe.
I have been a member of this gym for 15 years and have never experienced a problem with cleanliness or facilities. in the gym. The changing rooms and equipment have been modernised in that time and, while equipment breaks occasionally, that is to be expected, given its usage. It is, however, repaired. The staff have always been very helpful. My only niggle is that the Kinetika music in the morning is always too loud, but that is probably me and is solved by wearing noise cancelling headphones. Overall, it is a good facility for what you pay.
It's a great place, but they need more government funding.
Lovely place to have a leisurely walk and see the Ducks
Love using this lesiure centre - they have a lot of classes and facilities on offer. Gym and swimming memberships are a little expensive but it's a good incentive to excersice a lot. They have a lift which is handy but it does look like something out of a horror movie!
First time at the this swimming pool yesterday, took my toddler, was not impressed at all with the state of the changing rooms. I refer mainly to the state of the changing room floors, showers, and toilets which were filthy. I therefore had my reservation as to the overall quality of service provided. My daughter has since been extremely sick overnight and tonight since going here.
One thing I like a lot is that you can rent out rackets for badminton and tennis, which is really useful.
Tennis: Facilities are very good. Decent court sizes - 4 Courts. Only issue is that if u hit the ball too hard then it will go over and possibly into the nearby river so play responsibily. Highly recommend their tennis training course. Very nice gentleman. The courts do become very dirty in autumn and winter weather and are not cleaned regularly. This has caused some of my tennis balls to become incredibly dirty. 3/5
Swimming: Pool temparture is decent. Not too cold and easy to swim in. The deepness is adequate on the deep side. 3/5
Gym: Never been - although from what I have seen there are the standard gym equipment that you would find like treadmills etc.
Staff: I have never had any problem with staff. They always seem to be atentive and ready to respond although some are completely useless have to consistenty ask their supervisor for assitance which is time consuming. 2/5
Reception: It is incredibly cramped and the receptionsist seems to always be on the phone so it takes away 5 min of my time. They need to staff more people there. Unfortunetly they can only deal with 2 clients at a time so it is slow. 1/5
Changing Rooms: They could do with a cleaning everyday. They can be bad. They also smell weird. I would bring flip-flops instead of walking around barefoot. 0/5
Parking: Most times I find a space. It is NOT free which is annoying as the machines do NOT give change. 2/5
Overall: For a small city like Winchester it is not too bad but needs serious rennovation. The prices are far too high even for a "poshish" place like Winchester. Disappointed that this is the only option that we have in the city. I do not recommend except for tennis.
UPDATE: I have seen other reviews which are clearly being posted by the centre itself. I would take caution when reading other reviews.
11/35.
Lovely coffee with friendly staff and an amazing gym to top.
Try to hire a hall for a birthday not even a response, very poor customer service.
New inflatable assault course in the pool is fun.. trickier than it looks..
Ok I have good reviews I get it...
(Yay I'm popular!)
Been here the last 3 days for a shower/swim as travelling in a camper. Clean and tidy, helpful staff (thanks Sarah) got smoothies and WiFi upstairs, a good local leisure centre.
Great place really beautiful to look at went down to look at the KAYAK Centre
Nice pleasant place to take a stroll ..we used the parking space as it s convenient to park and roam around Winchester ..nice for a picnic or for kids to play
Turned up on Saturday afternoon so that my son and grandchildren could go swimming, only to be told that the pools were closing in 15 minutes. Decided to return on Sunday after being informed that the pools were open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on arrival Sunday we were told that the small pool was just closing! Very disappointed so my son ended up taking the four year old into the big pool but the three year old, who has cerebral palsy sat and watched with me, luckily, she wasn't too bothered
River Park is showing it s age a bit now, although it is only a matter of time before Winchester gets its new sports centre. That being said the pools are well maintained and the coffee shop a welcome addition.soft play and a buggy park make it useful for the kids as well.
Lots of activities, gym and fitness classes, swimming and even a weight watchers all conveniently located in the North Walls Rec
Staff are really great, but I think the center itself is starting to show its age a bit! But nevertheless it's always a great experience here.
We attended the Cheese & Chili festival, outsids. Enjoyed it, seemed well run. We did not go indoors.
