Awesome experience with my school, the staff seemed to be excited everyday.
Awesome experience with my school, the staff seemed to be excited everyday.
Great way to spend a day in the Nature. Apple picking is highly recommended. Perspective of buying apples at the local supermarket changed for us.
Loved it. Looks really colonial. All staff is dressed in colonial clothing. Apple dumpling was heaven. Many nice activities for kids like apple picking, archery, tomahawk and others. Nice for 2 hours with the kids. Gets cold as its pretty high.
Amazing, attentive staff, beautiful setting, great food, just a wonderful time. I want to come back next year.
We had a beautiful day at the Christmas festival. Everyone was kind and welcoming to all. Thank you!
Its awesome how the employees get into character, So much fun..
Very cool places. Went with the family and some friends (other family) to enjoy the day outdoors. Its was beautifu. l Didnt realize until i got there that it was the place to be. It must have been at least 2k people just at this one farm. Despite the crowd i think we all had a great time. We ate some good food, enjoyed some activities, and picked some fruits and flowers. I go again for sure. Take my advise though and go early so that you can get parking on the farm. Instead of out on the road.
Overcrowded and overpriced (3x the store price), and not very tasty. Fun experience if you have kids, though.
I would prefer that when I went someplace, I wasn't worried about putting me and my entire family in serious danger of getting sick.
Birthday gift, outing to Riley's Farm for Legend of Sleepy Hollow dinner theater.
Delicious food, entertaining show. Fun evening!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Riley's Farms. Perfect place for a double date. :)
Really enjoyed spending the day here. Food was great and then enjoyed the reenactments.
Food was good, but just warm, not hot. Maybe cause we where first in. Menu limited.
We enjoyed our visit so much! This is a wonderful place for the entire family. We ate at the restaurant, and it was delicious. The braised beef sandwich & Apple Pie with crumb crust - so good! There are Revolutionary drills for the kids - they also played hoops. U-pick apples & pears... Pumpkins are available, also. Pleasant folks are all glad to help you. A fantastic day, and we will be back.
A total snapshot of how things were. It was a real intelligent activity , in a time where mind-numbing devices reign.
The lunch was spectacular and the service was superb. All of the activities take you back in time
Great place to make a family tradition in the Fall. I did some axe throwing, made some apple juice, ate some good food, and I enjoyed the sights.
Awesome went there for a field trip when we went it was raining and really cold but at the same time was super fun.(^_^)
Really good place to go to.
My family and I had an amazing time at Riley s beautiful farm. People were so kind and welcoming everywhere we went. Can t wait to return. True American spirit there!
Awesome... Awesome... Awesome!!! Must be ready to take lots of pictures and videos...
Great place to get away. When you are out here you forget you live in California. This is a family owned farm and they are no stranger to serving customers and they know that there will be plenty of other people to visit them after you. Don't be an annoying customer because they are not afraid to lose your business and not serve you. They are quick and to the point so use it to your advantage and make your purchases fast and don't chit chat. They make it very obvious they do not want to talk to you. Enjoy this trip with your family and focus on them not the family who owns the farm. This place is a bit pricey but what did you expect its a tourist destination. Overall you will have pleasant memories and will most likely return to relive your first visit. I will return
My mom, my aunt and I all visited here about a week before Thanksgiving. And it was the only you pick open. So we stopped and the lady in the gift shop was very nice she was packaging rock candy when we got there. We then asked if they were doing the you pick apples and luckily she said they were and she gave me a bag. We saw the cute goats, the gorgeous landscapes and all the granny Smith apples you could want. So we all pick some 5 in total and I have to be honest these are the BEST granny smith apples ever. They are not too sour and not too sweet, juicy and yummy! I will definitely be making it back here next year! Thank you for the fun time and the yummy apples :)
This is a great place to go for learning the revolutionary war.
Great ambiance food was great will go again when I go back to California
My go to place for chicken pot pie. Sarah wasn't our server us today but we wished she was.
Would have loved to do strawberry picking or apple picking, only pumpkins at this time. Tried the candle wicking, the person should give instructions prior to dipping. Being scolded in front of a line of adults and mostly children is not appreciated. Instruct periodically instead of being told, "you're dripping wax all over the ground, you're supposed to drip in the pot!"
Kids had a great time! We ALL enjoyed learning more about our country's history and how things were done back in the day. Had fun picking apple to. Looking forward to our next trip!
Nice, peaceful farm where they hold events and sell home cooked food and other country style things.
Learned a lot with my son. Great pies and other food at the tavern. We will be returning very soon.
I came here on accident and I'm glad I did it was very nice and the restaurant was very delicious
Really fun and role playing experience! I especially loved the court scene.
So much to see and do at this living history farm in the 1750's time frame. Great food to be had in the tavern as well. Activities, entertainment and food - a great combination!
It is truly a great place to bring the family for some apple and pumpkin picking, beautiful location to enjoy the outdoors.
Their apple pie and pastries are to die for, fresh apples and freshly baked every morning so delicious.
Historical site, you will get to see animals, chickens, goats, sheep and beautiful horses everyone can pet and take pictures with!
Their restaurant menu is just ok, but it is a unique restaurant experience it takes you back to the 1800 s because of their set up and the hostesses attire.
Family and I attendinged Riley's farm for there colonial days event, Riley's is an apple farm however they also grow Berry's and other things.
Apple sales are in the fall. Colonial days recreate the days just prior to the revolution, they have a cafe, a bakery, stages, period costumes and everything from candle making to sewing, also animal petting na feeding area as well as staged shows. We had fun. I recommend any of there events.
Children weren't very entertained, too long of a trip. Loved their pies and pot pies!! I would definitely go back for more of those!
We love this place. Great food and charming atmosphere at the Hawks Head. Stilton cheese is a must have!
I did an activity here and it was great clean bathrooms and a nice atmosphere I would go again and I had a great time I would add showers for people that would stay overnight for activities but it was beautiful and wonderful
They offer lots of food, kids activities on the weekends and delicious beef jerky and novelty items
Great place to take kids and learn a little bit of history.
The farm is nice. The apple pie, chicken pot pie, and cider are absolutely delicious!!! Unfortunately the visitors were not wearing masks or social distancing nor were they encouraged.
I was somewhat disappointed. I'm sure the weekends are probably a better time to visit. I went on a weekday. Ample parking. Not busy at all. Did not feel welcomed. No signs really directing you, or employees to greet you. Make sure you take good walking shoes. Had to walk around trying to locate employees to ask questions. Visited the mercantile, picked some pears and bought their famous apple pie. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with their apple pie. Tasty crust, but filling was dry and just ok. Too much hype for an $18 pie.
A lot of activities during summer and fall. Great place to take the family and the family dog. Check out their website for the calendar of events.
We had a great day here! Picked apples, made cider, threw tomahawks, made candles and got to see a musket demonstration. Perfect fall day trip! The cast there stayed in character and we learned a few things about daily life in the past. The apple pie was great.
This place is a true treasure. Great history lesson for the kiddos as well as a great escape from the city hustle and bustle. When COVID restrictions end, I really recommend their restaurant for a pleasant breakfast with your significant other. I'm also a big fan of their pot pies! During COVID, you can place pickup orders for pies too. Oak Glen in general makes great day trip during the week; pre-COVID, weekends were very crowded. Now, weekends aren't very crowded at all, but Oak Glen is open for business.
People from LA need to stay in LA . This place is awesome where people and kids can run around free, like we are.
RILEY'S farm I have to let you know, I love you!
I just had the cider we bought this weekend with my lunch and there is nothing in this world so well balanced in taste.
I've been visiting Riley's farm since I was a little girl but this year I was able to visit with my Husband and it was his very first time, he fell in love. We may even make this a yearly trip when our Father God blesses us with a family.
We did all that we could do on our visit, all but dressing up but I hope whole heartedly one year I'll be able to do that. Thank you Riley's farm it's always a treat.
Love, the Moyer's
We went last week hoping to see some snow and get some Apple pie. We couldn t have been more pleased! It s an absolutely beautiful place and when we got there, there was 6 to 7 inches of snow! There was snow covered building and even snow in the trees! Our son brought his sled and was able to play on the property with other children. We got hot coco and a coke from the restaurant, but I wish we had got some apple pie, as it s their specialty and I ve heard it s so yummy. The staff was friendly and in pioneer attire. They were okay with all the extra company. I felt like it was a safe place for my son to play in the snow, while we enjoyed our coco!
Some stores were closed. But riley farm was nice. they have Great food n friendly people.
This is annual family day trip. Unfortunately drought has resulted in poor apple crop. Still enjoy walking on farm!
We had fun as a family. But, its way too expensive and there is no apples to picks anymore. And the hills... Omg!! I have asthma and its hard for me to walk up and down that hill.
We visit rileys Apple farm every year. It's the closest I can get to autumn in New England now that I've moved to California. Our new tradition is the dinner theater presentation of a Christmas carol up at the farm in December.
The lunch was spectacular and the service was superb. All of the activities take you back in time
Living history is wonderful and the pie is terrific. The staff is great also.
Great experience....eating at the Hawks Head tavern a must
I came here to meet up with family. The Restaurant was hidden but the food was excellent. It was cool, not crowded and my son said there was axe throwing! What! We were too late to participate. We came late on a Saturday afternoon, next time I'd like to get there earlier in the day. A place I'd like to visit more often.
The family and I used to enjoy coming to this place, but no more. Since the owners are all about First Amendment rights, I'll exercise mine. I refuse to support a place which sues school districts for not visiting their business. That's pretty low.
Took the family for a drive today and after driving by a few of the stops in the "loop", we chose Riley's Farm... well it was actually Stone Soup farm but they are neighbors so they make a great team! We checked in to Stone Soup and did the doll making, the gold panning and the candle making then went a few steps next door and picked some apples. Everyone was so friendly and it was a great experience for our family! A couple tips.... park on the street, bring cash and be prepared for cool weather and hot. We also took our own water and were thankful we did because it got pretty hot. Great job guys! Its a lovely place!!!
I was excited to drive here from LA and finally go apple picking. However after a two hour drive when we showed up and NO ONE was wearing a mask. Not even the people in the kitchen or general stores. I understand that it was about 85 degrees out but for none of their staff to be wearing masks or enforcing masks on their guests during a global pandemic was pretty concerning. I overall felt unsafe and wanted to leave ASAP. I will say the farm is beautiful and the staff (despite not wearing masks) were very friendly.
This is like a small version of Williamsburg, VA. This place is a definite must-see. The Tavern has a nice selection of food and Ales!
Birthday gift, outing to Riley's Farm for Legend of Sleepy Hollow dinner theater.
Delicious food, entertaining show. Fun evening!
Great setting
Friendly staff
Went to the business as a parent chaperone for a school field trip, the staff were awesome, knowledgable and great with the kids. We arrived at 830am and a small canvas tent had several items inside, the tent was a make shift store selling touristy items. The staff told us we could order fresh made pies and they must be ordered at that moment because they would be made and brought down to the parents at the end of the tour/field trip.
The staff are dressed in period correct attire and they were very informative. The children were divided into groups in order to effectively show the entire group of about 20 kids, the entire presentation.
The log cabin. A replica cabin the kids sit in and observe and listen to life as a pioneer, excellent and well done.
Candle making. The kids stood in a circle and dipped cotton a cotton wick into melted wax and in a moving circle, dipped the 2ft long wick one by one, building the layers of wax creating a usable candle, as the early pioneers did. Excellent and great hands on.
Horse drawn wagon. The kids were loaded onto an open wagon, drawn by two Clydesdale Horses and taught about the trials and tribulations of pioneer travel. Again, excellent.
Lastly, Cider press/making cider. The kids formed a moving circle and each child drops an apple into the press (about 100 apples) and a parent cranks the press and fresh cider is made, again, excellent.
Fresh made, hot, apple pies. At the end of the tour and presentation our "Made to order pies," were handed to us and all of us noted that the pies were ice cold. The pies were clearly pre-made and and telling the parents that the pies were going to be freshly made is most likely as sales pitch and hook, to buy an over priced and what turned out to be, a mostly RAW pie that I had to cook in my oven for almost 30 minutes because of the amount of RAW dough.
Overall great time, with the exception of the "Fresh baked Pie," bait and switch.
It was fun for the kids but the shop was overpriced. I guess if you enjoy holding up a stick and saying boom that is.
We love going up to Riley's farm to get away from the city. Peaceful quiet place. Love how they take you to the times of 18th century. Staff play the role with their English accent and their awesome clothing. The food is finger licking good, we can't go to Riley's without ordering the famous chicken potpie, apples with cheese, and apple pie.. Thank you Riley's!
This is a fun visit, but I advise against buying apples or cider here, as the apples and cider at farms further into town are more moderately priced and the apples elsewhere seemed nicer to me. The service here is ok, but the food from the tavern isn't all that impressive. I would recommend to parents to bring their kids here for the activities and sights though.
Riley's Farm is great for children to learn about the Civil War. They encouraged schools to bring the children there for an exciting day. We went there thinking that there were going to be shopping but there was only one small shop to look at. We had a wonderful lunch at the restaurant there. The staff was excellent and the food was delicious.
Amazing way to spend family vacation. Great bonding time with kids. Loved it. So worth it. We went as a party of 8 and it worked just fine. Highly recommend.
Riley's Farm is a secret. I see the billboards but, never realized what it was. Perfect day with great people.
Great food and the living Historians are very informative.
Riley's has amazing actors, fantastic food (try the 5lb Apple pie!) and they provide quality education.
