Richmond Olympic Oval Review

This gym used to be a good place to workout and enjoy some other facilities since they didn't have too many people. Now it's a different place since it usually gets packed on the hours most of full time working people prefer such as after 6PM at night time. workout area is packed and I have to wait for the equipment i want to use. However, their gym is big and usually have really good equipment overall and there goes 3 stars.
Another minus was because of their management when their manager is really stingy about giving free invitation for my friends. I got 1 year membership which cost me about 800 dollars and they said i can invite 10 friends. When i finally brought my friend to workout with and give him a try a gym, and they said I have to apply online to bring a friend 3 days before..... They didn't mention this when I was applying for 1 year membership. I mean who would plan 3 days before to bring friend over to workout together?? and why would they ever need 3 days to give a one day free pass....? I have no idea..

Worst management I have ever came across with. Beware of idiotic policies and hidden fees. It is a pretty gym but the customer service is atrocious. Most people who work here do not last very long because of this exact reason.

I joined this gym strictly for their basektball courts. When I was sold the membership I was informed that they have 6 full courts and have great availability.

A bunch of lies....
These courts are rented to either Volleyball leagues, Drive Basketball, or Urban Rec. And most of the time it is during prime time! When I brought this up with their management I was given a poor response. They told me to come by at 6am....hilarious!

Their staff: unprofessional.

Ridiculous that there is no parking on site for events! There is parking for members but that doesn t help anyone having to attend an event here.

Best gym I've been to. A lot of free weights, benches, and squat racks. There are also Olympic platforms. All equipment are fairly new. It is a little expensive if you are only going for work out, but it is actually quite cheap if you also play sports. All courts and sport equipment rentals, ice rink and climbing walls, and all Cardio/yoga classes are free with membership.

Very open areas, with volleyball courts along the river side. Wonderful place.

Been going to the oval for years, of course going during the main peak times, it can get a little busy... so most of the comments of its "packed or always busy" is just childish. All you have to do is adapt and change your routine when you make the mistake of going during those times. Staff is awesome, parking is secure and big... only thing is when there is a large event happening, you tend to have to park farther away from the entrance. Equipment is always well maintained, and the variety of equipment is just what you need.

It's a sports facility, there are a lot of options but the setup is somewhat bizarre.

Tremendous facilities! Nice gym, 2 beautiful ice rinks, and modern vibes. They also have several basketball courts although they were under construction when I was there. The customer service is spectacular and overall the oval was a great experience!

Employee wouldn't let me and y friend in because we were 1 year too young (12) even though the website says 6-11 and we're 12... Good job.

My friends and I tried curling for the first time here. It was physically harder than we thought but worth trying something new for a girls day out. The facility is clean and the staff were helpful giving us a shortened version of the rules and techniques for curling.

Parking is full a lot of the time because of special events

Lights blind your eyes on the basketball court and always cold

I have been going to Richmond Oval for over 3 years now. I've tried Steve Nash in Richmond and at Marine gateway, Sport Central, Richmond fitness centre. I am very happy at Olympic oval, I love that it's open, has lots of fresh open air, Great customer service who really care about you vs the other facilities that have no windows, very outdated equipment and poor customer service. I love that there's no sleazy sales rep trying sell me on something or getting referrals. I love that when there's a machine broken it's almost ALWAYS fixed the next time I'm in. I love that washrooms are always clean and that there's so many washrooms and lockers to use! I never feel crowded at the gym, it's rare that I can't get a machine to workout at (at least in the afternoon) and a lot of squat Racks ! Best thing ever is that they don't have contracts anymore! So Happy, gives you peace of mind! Even though it's a little more a month compared to other facilities it's worth it!

A great athletic facility. They have rinks, courts, nets, climbing wall and a gym. Outdoor beach volleyball in summer. Membership is reasonable and comes with a lot of extras including free classes. For parents they do have childcare. Multiple bike racks allow easy parking. They have several hundred stalls under the building for cars though it is pay. Transit is minimal but not a long walk from major bus lines or the Canada line.

Our family has been coming to the oval for years. This review has been a long time coming. I am writing this today as once again over the several hundred other times I have been overly impressed by the trainers at this facility. Hands down these trainers are sharing their knowledge, are looking out for you well being and at the same time getting you to the next fitness level. I have attended many one on one sessions, Group training sessions and classes and even the gym upstairs. All the trainers really are so attentive and they really care. I have been seeing a phsyio along with my daughter and recovery with a trainer and working out with proper form has done wonders. Words can t express how grateful I am to the staff here. The front desk is amazing. It gets busy but when you are a regular gym goer they start to know you.

If you haven t tried a trainer or one of their classes you are missing out.

Good place for exercise,if you want to skate, you can go to there.

It was my first visit in this beautiful facility. I received great customer service from Jean at the Concession shop. She was engaged, friendly and very helpful. I purchased a shaker bottle and she offered me to try the protein mix. Been a regular gym-goer in Richmond, customer services from the gyms are mediocre to poor. But Jean and this facility s staff are great! Highly recommended!!

high class fitness facility with everything you need.

We went to see the Olympic museum in this place. Great museum and the staffs are so nice, friendly and informative. We tried all the simulation games of the Olympics. We also watched an informative video on Olympic history. Worth the visit

The architecture is beautiful in this facility. The roof is beautiful and it's cool how it is made of wood from trees infested with pine beetles. There are many different thing to do in this facility. I'm not sure if all those lights on the roof are LEDs. But if not, replacing these lights to LEDs would be a great way for them to save money. If all those lights are 400 watt bulbs then they are wasting a lot of money from produced heat.

It's a state of the art facility.
It houses ice rinks, basketball courts, table tennis tables, rock climbing, a yyoga studio, badminton courts and 200m indoor track.

Only downside is that drop-in prices are a tad high (around $15).
Free lockers and showers are provided.

Incredible facility! i have used the Oval for corporate event space rentals and have used the gym facilities. Every time I rent event or meeting room space every detail is taken care of with care and timeliness. The staff always go above and beyond. The equipment in the gym is great and having the classes included in the membership is awesome. Would definitely recommend!
