This facility failed to keep my mother safe. It was Covid-19 epidemic and we couldn t see her and therefore we couldn t protect her from the neglect they treated her with. It was hard to get answers from a nurse, hard to her a catscan scheduled that we moved her to another facilit after they sent her to the ER. They never turned her the way they re supposed to, or probably Never ever did. She died with a huge bedsore.that measured approximately 5 inches in diameter. They helped to manage the smaller, visible sores but not the one on her tailbone that s how we know they never turned her. And because she couldn t speak for herself they never bothered.

I don't like it here at all this place is a prison...

I don't like it here at all this place is a prison there is a female resident here in Room 105 right side of the room she's a hacker (gets special privileges) I caught her December 25 at 10:30pm I will also add this place does not have anything they show on their websites residents are restricted to their beds at all times unless you have something to offer them. Phil Buchsbaum, LNHA so called administrator may have time to for his hobbies but he's never been one to have time for the residents. My first year here and Aza a white female respiratory therapist here thought it would be smart to clean my computer while I was using it and while I had the charger plugged in by draping a soaking wet towel over luckily I got it off before the computer could short out how ever the mouse which was touch pad broke that day and the computer started crashing the only thing working after that was the pre-boot diagnostic system that reports what hardware is damaged so according to the hardware scan the motherboard could no longer connect to the hard drive I bought a replacement wire hoping that was the damage and not the motherboard itself unfortunately it wound up being the motherboard itself. I now been here for 3yrs and 1 month going to be 4yrs after the holiday. What ever you do don't believe the website the administrator Phil Buchsbaum claims all the money that should be used for improving this place instead his rock'n roll is more important. Due to this the building is seriously now understaffed I spent Christmas morning naked in a freezing cold room because "the heating to the building doesn't turn on unless it is below 50degrees outside" this is quoted directly from maintenance who I asked to check because I thought it was broken, now here's where things really begin getting stupid average room temperature is rated 72 degrees so in short residents are forced to deal with freezing cold temperatures until midnight when the heating finally comes on to be honest I doubt that it the heating is controlled by the temperature outside as since October the only time it comes on is 12am and usually turns off at 6am so this is from one of the residents who is being forced to stay in bed most the time just because I'm not offering them anything like "hacking other residents computers and security cameras".

Social worker comes to me last night thinking she could scare me into unplugging my security cameras then when that failed she lied to me and said "any illegal actions caught on or by your cameras can not be used in any court of justice" at that point I was already past my stress point since they had me spend Christmas afternoon naked halfway off the bed with no way to call for help after the cna left me like that instead of finishing her job as she should have wasn't until about an hr and a half of slamming the bed controls against the side of my tv dresser that someone finally did something to help. That whole mess was started by the respiratory therapist mentioned previously goes by the name of Aza and is white female extremely lazy does nothing most the day but view outside my roommates window for obvious reasons I won't mention his name as he's a really nice guy and to be honest am sorry to see how the respiratory therapist uses his disability against him as well as me since we both are unable to speak, Aza adds onto the problem of not only do we not have proper heating unless a investigator shows up in which case a shows is put on using the residents who provide special services for the staff such as the woman in room 105 hacker for hire are the only residents in which are allowed to talk to the investigators but she also leaves the window open through the entire time she's here. Ok this is nearing its limit so let's just say they're going to be more and that I plan on opening either a blog about NYs health care centers as having had been in a large amount of them being thrown out mainly for refusing to allow myself to be beaten up or have my things constantly destroyed or stolen without fighting for my rights.

My mother has been a patient here since February. NOBODY EVER RETURNS YOUR PHONE CALLS!!! Even after multiple phone messages that are urgent, no return phone call. Since I am unable to visit due to COVID, I have no way to get the information I need. Very unprofessional, in my opinion. This happens with everyone o have left messages for, not just one person.

We arrived here from Upstate NY which we are 4 hours from home. They for one wasn't even prepared for my husband yesterday. The staff here are rude. My husband asked one of the aides if he could see his nurse and she informed him that she would relay the message to her because she has to wake her up. My husband doesn't even want o be at this place and from reading the reviews I have to agree with everyone.

My husband is on a trach and they wanted him to eat with it and he refused and they also tried to give him his meds which he didn't even get last night well because one again they weren't even prepared. Now we have to figure out how to get him in a rehab closer to home.

When you walk up to the front entrance there is a gateblike ur in prison. Once you walk in its beautiful until u turn that corner to go down the halls. Looks like a prison to me. NOTHING is on the walls in his room and can't even change the channel because there is no remote for the TV.

I work at both the Neurobehavioral unit and the long term floor. I enjoy the diversity and the experience at Richmond. My number one priority is coming and caring for our residents. I would send my loved one here so they can get the care we provide to every resident.

Absolutely a PRISION like front setting as soon as you arrive at the facility , you are seeing bars like PRISION SETTING. ABOVE ALL THE FOOD Is DISTRUSTING. THE STAFF IS SO RUDE , inconsiderate and abusive to the patients. My son is actually living there rite now , but , I am consistently upset and worryd about his safety and the level of care. They are not giving him. And we ALREDY called the state to report one of there staff c.n.a. Aide assaulted my child. And they still have her employed there. Horrific. Rite !!!!!! I pray each and everyday my son is safe he is quadripeligic its been difficult time for him. We are hoping at this time he has apply for housing BECAUS at Ths point we have had enough with nursing homes. We haven't seen one yet except when he was at gold water nursing facility. In New York City. On Roosevelt Islsnd. He loved it there. But we have a fight rite now on how they are so negligent in Turing my son every two hours. And how they disregard his call bell for hours and hours. Above all they show no care nor any remorse towards Alex my son. Let's pray he makes it outta Ths place into his own home.

The staff are a bunch of Friendly Ladies n Gentlemen that help you get out of bed in the morning, the use of the bathroom, how to dress yourself n get ready for another day it's like being at home with a little help. I know because I'm staying at Richmond Center for me it's like my home away from home, I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT RICHMOND CENTER. Richmond care center was nice at first but the new administrator along with the new doctors and new CNA staff the place has become a living nightmare, I live here and here's a warning for everyone unless you seriously hate your family member do not send them here the only people here that even remotely care about the residents safety and health are the nurses, oh wait sorry guess what the new administrator has decided to fire a lot of the kind caring nurses and replace them with what I would consider people with forged licenses if they're licensed at all.

The way staff and administration handle situations and take care of residents is first class. I would send my loved one here without a doubt. Thank you Richmond center.

I would give this place a -1 star review. The site shows inaccurate information and descriptions of the place. No one that love their family members will leave them here. My family and I feel terrible for those patients that don t have a family member to care and lookout for them. This place is nothing s as described. These pictures were probably taken over 30 years ago. I wish I can upload the real pictures of this place

Good morning. My name is Yolanda and want everyone...

Good morning. My name is Yolanda and want everyone to know how much of a horror camp Richmond Center is. If you're considering placing your family in this nursing home for any type of service please DO NOT DO IT!!! Please listen to my story. My brother was in this nursing home for rehabilitation and I had to take him out of here. It was the most disgusting and filthiest facility I've ever been to in my entire life. The staff was horrible, disrespectful, and very unattended to my brother and other patients needs. My brother was ignored, fed extremely cold powdered food and his bed was never changed. My brother whom was suppose to be provided care for rehabilitation for walking and his speech was taken to a dungeon on the bottom level of the facility for five minutes where they didn't have the proper equipment to conduct rehab for him. Five minutes of taking someone out of there room and bringing them back is not what rehabilitation is suppose to be. He was housed on the second floor inside of room 236 and about two doors down from his room they provide a room where the patients are allowed to smoke cigarettes inside of it. A CNA stands outside the door and let's about 6 patients at a time inside to smoke. The patients line up against the wall approximately 20-30 patients and all are allowed to go into this room and smoke cigarettes. Most of the patients walking around are dirty, have soiled their clothing from urine and feces and smell from not being properly cared for and the entire floor smells like funk, feces and smoke. Imagine that scent, believe me you would want to throw up. Once the patients have finished smoking if they want another cigarette they move to the back of the line to re enter the room to have another smoke. Really!!!! My brother and several other patients complained everyday about the smoke, and his room smelled as if he was inside of a smoke tobacco factory. I have never in my life known a nursing home to let you smoke inside of where patients are there to be rehabilitated. There was towels on the floor outside of patients rooms with feces on it left there for hours before any CNA's even removed it. During feeding time the CNA's would feed at least four patients at the same time and at times using the same utensil. It was disgusting and sad. I literally watched a CNA threaten to fight a patient and offered her a one on one fight in front of one of the supervisors and nothing was done to the CNA. My brother would ring the bell for assistance and would be ignored with not one nurse or CNA caring to attend to his needs. My presence was shown on a regular at this facility having to come all the way from Brooklyn to Staten Island at least four times a week because my brother would call every day and all day crying because of being mistreated by staff here. My brother who needed assistance in his feeding, speech and walking would lay all day in his bed with the cold food they'd bring him and would be hungry and crying because they would not help him eat knowing that he could not do it himself. Im writing my story here because this place needs to be shut down completely. By the second week I packed my brother up and removed him from this horror hole. My brother complained so much in such a short time of being there that the doctor prescribed him a psychotic medication called haldol which is prescribed for patients who are schizophrenic or bipolar and my brother is not a psych patient. The nurse said the doctor prescribed it to keep him quiet. I was disgusted and sick to my stomach and thank god my brother refused to take it also. On December 26, 2015 at approximately 10 am in the morning a nurse returned to his room to administer this pill again to him due to his complaining and by
then I'd had enough. I realized exactly what was going on here. I returned to Richmond Center this same day and packed my brother up and his belongings and took him out of this hell hole. My brother is now in a loving clean professional nursing home where he is receiving the care rehabilitation that he needs.

My family and I had a horrible experience with this institution. My father developed Sepsis and Covid,Pneumonia well there. They were supposed to give him rehab and he had only one session. They left him in his own fecckel matter for hours at a time. They did not give him his nausea medication for hours. He would have to call me to get people to help him.

Facility is a absolutely run horrible. Trying to speak to the anyone in administration about my fathers nursing care was impossible. Then being directed to the administrator Mr.B is even a bigger joke. Was easier to get in touch with the pet therapy ponies they have come around monthly then speak to him. God help us all.

This nursing home is very bad and should be closed. I work with NYS and am bringing attention to all facilities that are not treating patients up to code. I will post specifics shortly. What I can say right now is this...all the 5 star reviews are from employees or relatives of the owners. This has been proven. Please watch your loved ones closely.

This is a terrible place for anyones family member. They have no bedside manners , rude and have refused to allow me to see my mother since the lifting of covid restrictions. Staff has been at the front desk with no masks on . No phones in the room of the patients either . They have left my mother in a broken bed for days on island and when requested the staff stated that costs money to fix beds , i do not even understand how that was a suitable answer .

Food is tough going.

Food is tough going.
Nurses range from truly warm and caring, to shouting and cursing right in your face.
Facility is grubby and understaffed.
Administrative people think threy re better that you are.
Beautiful new physical therapy facility, but you only get a scant hour a day in a large group on weekdays or holidays.
That s 794 hours a week trapped in the place to get 5 mediocre hours of therapy.
I guess my insurance company considers that good value.

Today is 65 degrees. My Mother JOSEPHINE passed recently was a resident of RC since Feb. 2018 - Dec. She would have loved to work in her garden today, but RC gave her no physical therapy, they said "No maintenance is allowed", she got weaker & weaker! They said, "You come EVERY DAY, you do it"! AND WE DID THE BEST WE COULD! I wouldn't want to be "Iris" in charge of PT -I believe in Karma, how will her old age go, for what she did she deserves the same fate! Mom might have well been a PRISONER she was let out "3" times for a few precious moments and only because Mathew, a kind Respritory person "snuck her out! GOD IS MY WITNESS!!!!! We brought her pretty clothes, "Oh no we put the hospital gown"! YES WE CAME EVERY DAY TO MAKE SURE SHE WAS TURNED, CHANGED & FED!!!!!WE WERE CHARGED$29,000. A month!! & George(social worker), you could have helped, but did nothing. You have that to live with, how much you refused to help everyone with. Mr. B. keep raking in that money! KARMA KARMA! How do you all sleep at nite!

I have a friend that has been living there for a few years now. Her experience has not been good. The staff is slow to respond to her needs. She is one who needs help to bath, tolet ( she wears adult diapers) and she is often late getting her medication. Some days no one responds the call button . There have been times when she has had to wait hours after a BM for someone to help her get cleaned up. I have had to call a number
of times to ask that someone to check on her.

I recently visited a patient there. To be informed the agency gets, at minimum, $530.00 A DAY for each patient, one would think the conditions extravagant. NO, THEY ARE DEPLORABLE! I would not feed animals what they feed their patients! NYC agencies need to explore and fine (at minimal) the owners of this catastrophe! It's apparent most of the employees there try to make the best of what they have to work with. I thank God at least most employees are dedicated.
At over $500. A day, the patients there deserve a hell of a lot more; and/or the owners need some explaining to do!

This hell hole killed my father! My father develop...

This hell hole killed my father! My father developed gillian berrie syndrome stood in Brooklyn hospital for two months, then got transferred to this place for Rehabilitation. What a mistake that would be for us! He got there November 3rd and passed away on November 28th. He never got his med's on time, nurse's would never come when he called, then he was getting more and more infections, also developed really bad bed sores, he had diabetes so that was a great concern about never properly cleaned! The only times he would get proper care was when we visited him. That same day on the 28th in the morning we visited him he was dirty with throw up, the bed was a mess, he couldn't breathe, and was in great distress. The nurse's MIA! I had to call the doctor in twice, and they just said the reason he was in distress was he was having a panic attack and would give him medicine for that! We left with a heavy heart because me and my mother came with my uncle and aunt who was nice enough to drive us there coming from Brooklyn. I called right after we arrived back home to make sure he was given the med's and if he had calmed down? The nurse assured me he had been given the med's and was sleeping. So I told my mom and she still was very upset she had came home crying my mother knew my father was suffering and didn't look well and my aunt had told me that we should be prepared because she Forseen my father's death she is psychic but doesn't practice it. Sure enough come 7 pm and my mom tells me I should call to see how my father was doing and so I call asked for the 1st floor nurse's station North side and I ask, she told me that she had gone in to check on my father but that he was none responsive and that she didn't feel a pulse so so called the paramedics and they were working on him I went into shock! She told me she would call me back. So I told my daughter who was in the living room and told her to not to tell her grandmother! I ran down stairs to my aunt and uncle's house, we all live in the same apartment complex and told her what was happening. She looked at me with shock and disbelief but knew her vision was coming true! She told me to call back the center and they still said he was being worked on! My mother knocked on the door because she saw my daughter crying and so she knew something happened. I opened and she was beside herself! Crying screaming! My aunt ordered us to get dressed because we were going over there to see what the hell was going on! So we got ready I called again to let them know we where headed over there now! But when i got a hold of the nurse she told me that the paramedics call it at 7:34 that he had passed away! We went and found my father's cold body laying there in that hellishly room, room 115! My father went there to get Rehabilitation for his legs and only got sicker until he died! He was only 65 this Friday he would have been 66. Now instead of celebrating his birthday we are attending his funeral! Thanks Richmond center! Morale of this nightmare if you really care about your love ones don't pick this place! Your love ones won't live and you'll regret it, like us!
