The worst hospital experience ever. Brought in by ambulance after a motor vehicle accident, with a concussion, and was brought to the general emergency waiting room area where I sat, with a debilitating headache, in a freezing cold environment, for 7 hours until I was finally seen by a PA. The nurse on 3rd shift that took my vitals was very pleasant despite my obvious frustrations and discord. The PA that examined was kind, apologetic and thorough. But, I shouldn t have had to wait 7 hours in pain to be seen. The nurses I had contact with weren t very friendly or personable. As a nurse myself, I found that disturbing. The exam rooms did not have beds there was only exam tables. No pillows or blankets to use. (Thankful to a friend who brought me a blanket) The hospital seems very antiquated and in need of many updates.
The attendants at the family information desk were rude and made comments about people when they were turned away from the desk. Very unprofessional. I understand there is a staffing shortage. I understand, as a nurse myself, what emergencies trump my emergency, but 7 hours until I was examined!!!??? Unacceptable treatment. Unprofessional staff all around. Shout out to the PA, the doctor, and the ladies in CT scan thank you for maintaining your kindness and professionalism to me even after listening my complaints.

This is a hospital where ppl everyday comes here for different reasons tell me why the hospital is always short staffs. The waiting time to be seen here is beyond ridiculous there should be no reason for any patience to be sitting and waiting to be seen more than 4 or 6 hours.

I had an icky outpatient procedure today that was made as pleasant as it could possibly be by the amazing staff at Rhode Island Hospital. The team of RNs and the surgeon, Dr. Fine, were all professional, competent and kind. Shout out to Chris and Florinda on the RN team, because they were fabulous but so were their colleagues whose names I can t remember.

I dont know what reviewers expect. You come to the hospital for help. They are helping me. No rude behavior for most part. Good food not great and dont order eggs but I am here for their help to stay alive. So the food and attitudes of people really goes to the side as they have saved me. Thank you 10th floor RI Hospital.

Went via ambulance for back injury. I was in a ton of pain they wouldn't do an mri , Icouldn't walk or stand. Without figuring out what was wrong with me they kept giving me morphine until I could finally stand, just so they could get me out to open the room. Ended up getting an Mri a few days later once I could move around and I herniated a disk into my spinal cord. I'm lucky they didn't cause permanent damage. I'm thankful they helped get me out of some pain but making me walk out was a horrible call. After covid this place fell apart.

I was visiting a family member and too early for visiting hours. I left some items at the reception desk for my family member. I then sat in the publicly accessible area of the main lobby to place a call to said family member to let them know I dropped off the items they requested. A few seconds later I was approached by a female security guard with lips tattooed on her neck. She rudely ordered me out of the lobby and said I wasn t allowed to sit there. Being handicapped I stated I would only be a few moments and would leave after I sent a message to let my family member know that I left items with a receptionist. This was unacceptable according to this security guard and then quickly ushered me out the main entrance door. I was flabbergasted that someone would speak to me in such a demanding unprofessional way. I would hope that retraining is in the future for these guards.

I am a tough critic but 99% of the staff here are fantastic. The RNs are amazing, attentive, compassionate, and care for your whole being. The CNAs work tirelessly to make you as comfortable as possible. It is very clean and the cleaning staff are sweet, as well. The food is not bad, small selection, but the staff that delivers it are priceless. I took off a star for having hot coffee accidentally spilled on me, one cruel RN, and one awful doctor. Care givers here will hold your hand, offer a hug, or just listen. I cried when I left in my utmost gratitude!
