Love this place but service is always so slow and you are not acknowledged when you sit down, you always need to wave over someone to serve you. Hey Akarana please get it together, we do love you.

It is really quite shocking how unapologetically poor the service is. The food was tasty (when it finally arrived), the coffee is good, the location is stunning but I don't think we will ever go back. And won't be recommending either until something shifts. Shame!
Wanted to try this venue as it was recommended. Lovely outlook only. What a disappointment for the rest of the experience. Though not busy, orders took far too long. 1 order was corn fritters. 2 minature fingers posing as fritters (excessively salted) on shredded greens and bread slice with poached egg. Menu limited to breakfast only so no option for lunch items offered. Will not recommend! Also coffee was in a tiny cup. Never had such a small coffee anywhere!
Heke beer is the best Don't go, it is too good a place to share Had my birthday lunch here with the lads And my friend had his birthday here Great, exceptional, wonderful place Million dollar views, great staff Thanks you lot! A special place for special people.
What an amazing location! We have been dining at this stunning place with a larger group. Really enjoyed the food. Also lovely staff and service. However the reason I cannot give it 5 stars is that I thought the price is a bit steep. $30 for a salmon main without any sidedish at all is quite a bit. Also a bit disappointing to have tap water on the table. I expect at those prices to have at least filter water. However all in all a great place. It won't stop me from coming back, maybe just not dinner. Thank you.
After waiting an hour for the food to arrive I received a cold eye fillet. The garlic butter wouldn t melt on the steak itself. The portions were well undersized with little value on the plate. When paying the bill the staff didn t bother to ask how the meal was, likely they already knew that it was over priced rubbish. Worst dining experience in Auckland. Well done.
Friendly staff and take the time to explain the specials slowly so we can hear them. The food was enjoyable and I will definitely be eating here again.
Stopped in for a light lunch over the weekend, group of 7 and walked away with a bill over $400.
Service was poor, had to ask several times to get a cloth to wipe the table where they spilt a drink and to mop the floor covered in beer, had to continually ask for drinks, food looked great but very bland.
Wasn't overly busy so the service side was disappointing.
Awesome setting and a great place to catch up for a drink.
Also noted that this was all under Level 2 - we had a total of 5 wait staff and no social distancing.
Wonderful setting however extremely noisy. I ordered the soft shell crab burger, $28.00 it was full of coleslaw and a small and very strong tasting crab... not fresh or fresh frozen. The woman asked how it was and I told her and she said well you ate most of it ! I ate the coleslaw and bun....which was most of it! Rude I thought. I won t return in a hurry.
Thought we would call in for an early dinner on a beautiful sunny afternoon. What a lovely location. simply stunning. Walked in and the young lady behind the bar said to take a seat and someone would bring us menus. There were probably 4 other couples there and some groups on the lawn. Not too busy and plenty of staff. 10 mins later no menus and staff walking through then disappearing out the back, , so I got up and found some menus from the centre station. Read those for a while and still no one approached so I ordered at the bar. Food arrived in fast time. . I ordered the salmon which was tasty but was literally the width of two fingers. TINY!!! for $30 you expect something bigger than a finger. My wife ordered the sirloin steak $36 and it was luke warm when served but she said it was tasty. The demiglaze on the side was cold so that was untouched, sides of cauliflower were luke warm. Coffee you guessed it Luke warm. Nothing was hot or close to it. Sat there for 50 mins with plates on our table after we had finished. Staff walking around serving others, One staff member walked past us 5 times and no contact. So we had dessert at another restaurant. One that values the custom. So disappointing as its a great location but staff need a rev up big time and chef needs to be more generous and learn how to serve hot food. When i commented as I paid I just got a blank stare, no apology, no feedback, nothing. The guy just stared at me. won't be back until you guys can do what you say you can on your website.
The view overlooking the marina is beautiful, starters, drinks and main courses are fantastic...however, the sides(lettuce/cabbage something covered in white sauce with croutons) and desserts (Nutella pizza base and vanilla ice cream)aren't much to write about..
What a sad waste to what could be one of Auckland's best seaside dining venues, especially with the up coming summer and Americas Cup. To wait 40 minutes for two coffees.... not good. And a second opportunity to find redemption was equally dissapointing. Two slices of warmed dry bread and no sign of any butter whatsoever. And the scrabbled egg looked more like a victim of the chef rather than a celebration of food. This is such a wasted business opportunity and I can only hope that someone will make changes to transform this venue into one that delivers a vibrant and pleasant dining experience, one that Auckland can be proud of, and a destination that Aucklandrs are happy to bring their out of town guests to.
There are very few places where you have a first class meal, the best coffee, have amazing veiws of Rangitoto Island and launch a boat - This place is the spot.
Situated of the main path of Tamaki Drive, this place offers ample parking and easy access to be able to park your car, grab a coffee and walk along the ocean to soak in the scenery.
Their menu has strong focus on seafood and for their coffee they are serving the Allpress Espresso blend through a custom wrapped 3 group Linea PB. Whether you are looking for a beautiful brunch, a wine in the sun or a stroll along the ocean with a flat white, Akarana Eatery is the spot for you.
Great location but very average coffee and quite hostile service especially at the counter. We love the spot however every time we had coffee the espresso was burnt and food Was average and overrated. The place lacks soul and hospitable service.
One of my worst dining experiences in Auckland. Service was so slow and food took over an hour to arrive. When it did finally arrive it was cold and overcooked. Beautiful location, management needs to just resolve it's shocking staffing issues. I would not recommend
Average experience to be honest, small meals, over priced, got beer order wrong, wife s meal was 15 minutes after everyone else s, my fish meal was mediocre. I think you need to up your game and not just rely on your location.
I read a few bad reviews but thought I'd give it a go. It was excellent in everyway. So either those guys were unlucky or they've got significantly better. Highly recommended.
Good nice however incomplete meals at dinner, lack of carbohydrates on plate. Kitchen very slow although restaurant not busy. Wait staff rude at times.
My son was given a burnt ham and cheese croissant with an apology but was given it anyway and then given just a plain one as well. Taken back and replaced reluctantly.
Stunning location, has great potential to be a fantastic restaurant. Unfortunately food is quite basic and overpriced for what you get. Service is slow and unfriendly. Would likely go back for drinks, but not for dinner.
