A comfortable and cozy theatre venue for any small-scale performance lover. I had the amazing opportunity to watch Dance Nation here recently and had the best experience with the facilities, location and the actual show.

Definitely a great spot to get your performing arts fix in an accessible and pleasant location.

Toxic management who believe they ARE the theatre....

Toxic management who believe they ARE the theatre. Treat their ensemble members like slaves working for a pittance while those in management receive high wages and claim they are the reason the company is successful. The chairman of the board favours the AD which in turn means she has full reign to do what she wants without transparency and not in the best interest for the actors who work for them but to enhance her status only in the industry.

This company does some great plays, but I found out (through a relative who works in the industry) that they don't pay their actors properly. The actors get paid way less than the union minimum wage - In fact, I am pretty sure my relative said they get around $1,200 for an entire 7 weeks of work! Maybe it's not the fault of the company. It's no doubt due to lack of funding. However, I think the theatre company should make its patrons aware of the fact that they cannot afford to pay their actors, instead of presenting it as a major professional theatre company. That way, the audience members might get behind them and start a campaign for them, or a rich benefactor might come forward and offer them some assistance. However, rather than state the truth, their website boasts its "employment" of actors in a difficult industry! I don't know how that kind of financial remuneration constitutes "employment".

I would rate it 0 if I could. The play I saw today called antipodes, was uphorrent and distasteful in every sense of the word. I will never come back and would rate them negatively to anyone who asked. I do not say this lightly. They try too hard and it is blatantly obvious so nothing they intend comes to pass. It is good for those who enjoy memes and things so bad they enter a new realm sadness

A wonderful theatre that I've been going to for several years now. The staff here are always so warm and welcoming. The productions Red Stitch puts on are often unique and lesser known plays - and always provide a great discussion afterwards. Ticket prices are really affordable and I will continue to support Red Stitch as long as I live in Melbourne. Definitely check them out if you've never visited before.

Love this place! The plays are thoughtfully presented and thought-provoking. The sets are always clever & make the most of the tiny space. Always a friendly, homely atmosphere created by the bar staff & front of house. Such a great little theatre.

A small intimate theatre with limited seating a good venue with off street parking a bar and toilets and friendly staff. I've been once and are always looking to see what other productions are coming up.

This is a theatre company located on a tiny hall behind a church. There is a small number of car parking spaces available. Located directly opposite the Astor Cinema, Red Stitch is an actor's theatre, plays staged here are chosen and performed by the ensemble of actors that performs here. There is a bar available but no coffee sold in the small foyer. Highly recommended.

Tonight we joined the full house for the production of the play Sweet Phoebe.. And what a most enjoyable production it was. Having only just discovered this fabulous Ensemble Theatre.. We will be most definitely coming back to see other productions. Not only was the cast just superb and you were on your seat for every word they spoke in this intimate little theatre. Also the friendliest greeting at the ticket office and bar area.. This is most definitely a theatre to be frequenting .
