Lovely place. Went for the music. Enjoyed the chill vibes and warm glow. A fine venue for intimate performances and soulful artists.
Great experience. Good food and energetic music. The beauty of Sunday morning in New York
The music and environment is amazing, but the food leaves a little to be desired. Would definitely go again though - lots of fun!
Loved Parlor Social. Loves the food. Generous drinks.
It was very good, the DJ was playing all the good hits. The drinks was on point as well.
Came here for my cousins birthday. The manager was very nasty to us after we asked him a question. He must have known he was wrong because he came back to get us and let us jump the whole line and get in for free. Great music to dance to but a lot people just standing around.
Good space. Good music. Everyone danced and sang and had fun.
The only reason I'm giving Ginny's a 5 * rating is because the performance from Black Lion on June 1st was outstanding. Sorry to say the cornbread was just ok. The block party ribs were nothing to brag about and ceasar potato salad lacked flavor. I hear these chef's on TV all the time saying they have to make a dish their own but this rib dish needs to be revamped ASAP. So for this reason I have to say the food is over priced.
I almost forgot to mention dessert was also a bust. Unfortunately we had to send back the hot honey yardbird dish most likely because it was fried in the same fryer which is also cooking some type of shellfish like their crabcakes or something. Since my wife is severely allergic to shellfish this means I also don't want to take a chance of eating something that can be transferred to her. I hope this is not the case for chef Samuelson's other businesses. I suppose when a person owns several establishments it becomes very difficult to maintain a chef's standard. All and all do recommend to have dinner elsewhere and then catch a the very good live perfomance at Ginny's.
It is a very nice atmosphere. Nice music and a great DJ.
Great entertainment from the Walker Project. Prix fixe was NOT tasty or at all flavorful. Hopefully it was just a Holiday mass production faux pas.
My 2 stars is not a reflection of the music here. They obviously get top flight musicians. My problem is with the fact that even when the tables are empty, one cannot sit there unless ordering food, and that most of the crowd during the two times that I tried the place were so rude as to be talking loudly during the performance. I was stunned and dumbfounded. Why pay the cover charge and talk during performance? Why not just stay at the upstairs bar? I think that they should enforce quiet policy as they do at the likes of dizzy's.
Nice place. Nothing really stood out though. Somewhat small. Restaurant is really good though.
Love going there for Pedrito Martinez. Great host, good food. Love the Yes Chef
Down under jazz restaurant, with a vip feel, great service and delicious food.
Entertainment great....drinks good, food questionable at best, some dishes were cold and greasy.
Cool. A little ratchet but depends what you're looking for.
The Block Party Ribs with broccoli and Caesar's potato salad was so good!!
Excellent food, atmosphere, and talented young performers.
Try it for the atmosphere of the Gospel during Sunday brunch. Gospel show maybe a little "forced". They still ask for a tip even if there is no service as the brunch is a buffet
Great atmosphere and service but food was not on par. Food came lukewarm to cool and we had to send back often for multiple plates
Great food. King Salomon Hicks fabulous music. Service a little slow but overall highly recommend.
Was just here Sat Oct 26 and had a wonderful experience. Our entertainment was Nate Lucas and his Allstatrs. Nate played organ / keyboards with Eric Johnson on electric acoustic guitar. Ididn t catch the drummer s name. The vocalist was Latrice Onthetocherry Cherry, an awesome vocalist. The food is really good too. We had the Hot Honey Yardbird, a half chicken with sucatash and mashed potatoes. Overall an excellent evening.
Always a great time and Harlem Mule is fab. Cost of admission to a great live jazz band was less than a movie ticket!!!
Magnificent i miss mu hse music so much... I'm having a grest time!!!
I love this place! Wish I was in Harlem more often.
Went for the music. Enjoyed the chill vibes and warm glow. A fine venue for intimate performances and soulful artists.
Fabulous after party for the Apollo documentary project. Food and fun all around. The Red Rooster knows how to host an after party!!
Went to see Endea Owens and The Cookout. Great music and delicious from one of my favorite chefs, Marcus Samuelsson. This is definitely a spot to hit!
Was not treated with respect. Definitely won't be back
Dark and loud, bar table was sticky. Cover charge of 15.00 jazz band was great
Jerk chicken is killer, good cocktails, and always good music.
Love Loved this place. My first time here. It was Mother's day weekend with my sister's, Niece and mom. We were suppose to eat at Red Rooster's ended up downstairs due to a prior restaurant canceling our reservation. Thanks to Shane for accommodating us due to our circumstances.
Awsome Gospel Brunch Sunday. The food and entertainment is great.
A gospel show for tourists. The music is a terrible noise that does not allow enjoyment. The show also includes a delicious buffet breakfast. not recommended.
So while the decor is nice, everything else about this place sucks. From the slow bar / food service, to the fact that you have to watch your belongings like a hawk, in order to avoid being picked off by this pickpocketing / theft ring that is operating in there and the place upstairs, the whole experience was a bust. The two times I have been to this venue either myself or a member of the party i was with was pick pocketed/ had belongings taken. The management was unapologetic and unwilling to review the camera. Loved the show the band i was there to see put on, but it was not worth having to replace everything in my wallet or pay for identity fraud alerts for the next year! On top of all that the bartender was nice but the waitresses gave us the stank eye all night. Overall not worth it for the price you pay!!!
Great experience at the Sunday Brunch with live Gospel music. Food was good as well.
The Entertainment and food was wonderful. I love Marc Samuelsson and his recipes
Food was Great! Entertainment awesome. Room was just so dark I couldn't see my food...
A special place, an amazing jazz evening with talented musicians. A place that is an experience
Omg go to the Gospel Brunch. The food is amazing and the singing is fabulous.
Nice and cozy venue with a world renowned chef attached!
Came here for the gospel Sunday. Food was okay and a bit overpriced. It was a nice experience but wouldn't return again.
Amazing.
If you can get table by the stage however it s not needed ! This choirs voice will lift you wherever you re sat in the room.
The food was very tasty too and healthy. Good fried chicken and mac n cheese btw.
It s a buffet style food and desert with a optional bar menu. Price includes food and performance.
Amazing band too, guy in the piano is excellent.
Was a very nice visit and recommend for anyone visiting.
Finding this place at first was a bit challenging but, it s 30 seconds from Starbucks which is on the corner. You have to walk inside the RED ROOSTER bar/ kitchen and head downstairs
I believe that if you do not have anything nice to say, you shouldn t say anything at all. With that being said, one star is the most I can give.
Great energy and atmosphere. Food from Red Rooster above is beyond amazing. Hudson Horns was a great band.
Just the Best!! The Sunday Gospel Brunch is the Truth! Food is amazing and the Gospel Singers.. Awesome!
Samuelson is a wonderful host when he's at the restaurant! Amazing place for breakfast, brunch and/or dinner!
Food was good, mac and cheese crave worthy. Excellent live jazz...
We spent Christmas at the red rooster , a bar downstairs Ginny s Supper club. One of the best experience at NYC , the food was amazing and very good price , but the music, wooow, we enjoy every single second of it, the group was amazing, the vibe and the service ! I m glad we found it !!!! Great place!
This was my first time attending the Gospel Brunch at Ginny s. It s a nice space in the lower level of The Red Rooster, the famed restaurant on Lexington Ave. Pros:
1) Attentive Staff, my water was constantly refilled throughout the show
2) Adequate and roomy seating
3) Performers were amazing and engaging
4) Buffet had a smorgasbord of selections (the pork bacon was the best I ve ever had and the beef brisket was a close second)
5) Music level was appropriate for the space
6) Clean bathrooms
Cons:
1) No paper towels to dry our hands in the bathroom
2) The food was hit or miss. The shrimp in the gumbo were mushy (obviously frozen and over cooked and not fresh shrimp). The waffles almost gave me diabetes! Not only was the batter sweet but the butter used as a topping was sugar butter and it was sprinkled with confectioners sugar and fruit!
The pineapple cake was the same sugary consistency. Between those things I just didn t enjoy my meal as much as I expected.
3) The Performance: Being a black Christian woman of faith I enjoy a good gospel show as much as any BUT toward the end the show felt minstrel. I say this because of the guise of the Holy Spirit the singers pretended to be under as they proceeded to shout (black colloquialism for rhythmic steps and verbal praise when taken over by the Holy Spirit) during a song at the end of the show. Tourist don t need to see us clowning. Sing your songs, do your secular dances and earn your coins without making a mockery of the faith.
Wonderful food. Was there for Thanksgiving and it was a really great buffet. The salmon was sublime. Wonderful fried turkey. Great sides too. Friendly. Good jazz in the background, but not overpowering if you wish to carry on a conversation, especially if sit in the back. Only let down was some of the pastries for dessert. Some were good. Nothing stood out and the chocolate chip cookies were a complete disappointment.
You can forgive a busy restaurant for taking longer to bring food, but after an hour wait for wings that take 8 minutes to fry, you can't forgive a waitress's response of "I dont know what you want from me"
Very good club, under Red Rooster, a super restaurant in Harlem. I know very well, we recommend the Obama Ribs. The first show
Great vibe here, with live music/DJ/other entertainment setting the mood. An interesting - though pricey - menu with some really excellent food; my ribeye was delicious! Service is spot-on too - very friendly & helpful staff.
Experience was awful. Mandatory coat check in the Winter. Dozing = Dismissal... without party members. Security staff = 0 customer service. Rude and ill tempered. Security needs training.
The afterparty was terribly disorganized. It was a $30 entrance fee (despite the fact we paid money for the concert already). People kept pushing and shoving when we were online. I won't be going back anytime soon
My date didn't have much fun, but I had a ball! You'll love it!
The best jazz spot in Harlem for wealthy people not from Harlem. I feel like it's this great classy place for those of us with $200 plus to spend on a date. Which is fine cause its smooth and the food is good and the music is strong. Poor people dont have a right to anything nice of course.
