Their flavor combinations are just so amazing. Food is fresh and filling and you just feel so pleasantly content after eating it. One of our most favorite local places!

Excellent food, great coffee!! This place is small, but well worth the wait!! Friendly employees always serving with a smile. Highly recommend coming here for breakfast or brunch. Can't wait to come back.

Normally, atmosphere is more importan in a coffee shop for me than quality of coffee but this place nails everything. I went about 30 min before closing for a cup of decaf but they had already ran out so the barista suggested an Americano instead which was so smooth and so good I didn't need any sugar at all. The barista was very friendly and quick. And although I didn't stay inside, since they where close to closing up, I would definitely come back here to hang out for a while and read or talk. I also had a chocolate macadamia nut cookie which was very good as well. Definitely a 5 star cafeteria. Sometimes I feel like cafes just charge more for a product that isn't noticeably better, but the coffee here is definitely much better and the price is not crazy either. Great place!

I'm split on RedEye - I'll go back and have another look. The coffee that I had (double espresso) was watery and the shot was pulled WAY too long for my taste. They use Intelligencia beans, which I also use at home, so I know how I like a shot to taste. Service as fine. Slow, don't know what I expected. Plenty of people working, but seemingly more taken with addressing stocking & keeping things moving for the business. The food was very good. Tasty omelet - though I don't know how you have two items standard when cheese counts as an item. Generally fine. But I was expecting something special.

Our offices have recently moved to Montclair and the RedEye had become somewhat of an office go to for a sit down lunch. The food is good, consistent if not a tad pricey, but hey, we're in Montclair. I do wish they had fries but I appreciate that they aren't necessary to have a good meal.

Tried it for breakfast last Sunday. The food was very tasty, decor is nice (my wife said it felt like Brooklyn). Noise level was a bit high.

Service definitely was bad. We waited a LOOONG time for our breakfast. Several tables that were sat after us had their orders taken before us and their food arrived in the same order. We also had to flag down a server to get our coffees refilled.

Given that they are a new establishment I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on the service, otherwise this would have been a 0 quality score review.

I love the Red Eye Cafe. The dishes are consistently yummy and the staff is friendly and extremely accommodating. Did I mention that they have freshly baked cookies that are so good they'll make you swoon? Can't wait to go back.

went in at 9pm on a tuesday night to get some work done, hours listed r til 11, at about 10:05 one of the employees approaches me and says 'we're closing up' to which i gave the 'bulging eyes and raised eyebrows look towards floor' and just said 'ok' and left, obviously the young hipster who said this didn't own the place, disappointment, change your hours or dont post any if u want to operate as such, anyway skip it, theyll ask u to leave to close early if there arent that many customers inside. abysmal experience. never again.

The wife took me here for our date for my birthday. Everything we had was great. Their mocha was awesome too, I was very impressed and will be a repeat offender there...I mean repeat customer! :)

Service is #***** HORRIBLE
I have more than once come here at 10:30p and been turned away because they're "closing soon"

Management needs to get their team together

I was brought here with a friend yesterday in the afternoon and enjoyed the food. It's a nice local business that's a good alternative to Starbucks. I had the Cuban sandwich that came with a salad and my friend had this sandwich with pickled blueberries. Overall, it was a good experience. I enjoyed the coffee and the meal. The music was good and the service was friendly as well.

I love this restaurant the food is great there the only thing about it is you have to wait a long time to get in and the tables are very small so if you go in a party of two it's easier but if you go with more than 3 people it's really tough to get a table.

Shrimp & Grits and Pesto Scramble was Excellent! I asked them to substitute the ketchup for onion jam because Im not a big fan of ketchup on my eggs. I'm so glad I did because it was absolutely delicious. The shrimp and grits was VERY FLAVORFUL and delicious as well. Kudos to the chef!

Cool vibe, small menu of really well-done dishes, and friendly service. Enjoyed grabbing Sunday brunch with a friend here. The table situation is a bit tight, but the food made up for it.

Went here for brunch, had a wonderfully made waffle with bacon and fruit, and some sort of spicy maple dip.

Coffee was large, fresh, and very smooth, not bitter at all.

It gets pretty busy, but the atmosphere is still relaxed, we had a table in a nice nook with a good selection of novels on a shelf nearby.

Looking forward to going back!

Food is outstanding. I've never had a bad or mediocre meal. Don't come here if you have to be somewhere at a specific time. This is for leisurely mornings or afternoons as the wait and service can be slow.

The service is horrible. I have been waiting an hour for my food and still haven't gotten it yet. When I finally got my food it was really bad. They were nice about it when we told them it wasn't very good though.

Great service, relaxed environment, and wide range of food/drink options made for a worthwhile experience. Would recommend to a busy commuter or college student seeking a getaway with complimentary WiFi.

Red Eye is very focused on quality savory dishes and a quality cup of coffee.
Located in a trendy section on Walnut Street, it isn t the easiest restaurant to spot with the cafe s name on a dark awning. There is no parking lot, and parking can be difficult depending on the time of day.
The cafe is very clean with lots of dark wood and white subway tile. The tables are individual and relatively comfortable despite the restaurant being crowded. In the morning, especially on the weekend there may be a 15-30 minute wait for brunch. When it s nice out, there is a quaint alley way with tables, but it can be difficult to get prompt service outside.
The staff is very friendly and is knowledgeable about the menu items, or are willing to find out the answers if you have questions.
For brunch, we had the Chipotle Cheese Sandwich and the Waffle Sandwich. The waffle sandwich with bacon and egg accompanied by fresh fruit was good, but the spicy maple dipping sauce made it very good I did not try the Cheese Sandwich, but was told it was tasty.
Our pour over coffee was very good, though not the best and probably wouldn t stop in just for it.
In total, brunch came to $40 for 2 including tip. As with most trendy cafes, it s considerably pricier than most diners and other breakfast spots. The uniqueness and quality can justify the cost, though there are other cafes I would make a regular visit to before coming back.

I have been going to Red Eye Cafe for a long time now and can honestly say it's my favorite low-key place to eat and/or have a cup of coffee in Montclair. The interior design is warm and inviting, the food is great and their drinks are delicious. Although my favorite thing to eat there is their coffee cake!

Great food, Great atmosphere and most importantly great coffee!

Ps. Their weekend brunch menu is amazing. Especially their sunrise quesidilla. Lawd!

I changed my review to 4 stars because i walked into the cafe tonight ( april 28th around 7:45pm) to get a cup of coffee and the barista completely ignored us and served the people that came in after us because he knew them. Was a bit frustrated about it.
