This is a great mid-sized international airport which is extremely efficient and dirt cheap compared to flying out of CLT. Very clean and modern with plenty of eateries although Terminal 2 does have a few more. The best part is that there are NO big name, main street fast food vendors operating in the entire airport such as McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc. Your food choices are mainly off-name, more local vendors. How refreshing is it to not be forced to eat garbage while traveling and to have good options?

Southwest terminal is beyond lame. Only char-girl and a sky market was open. Zero healthy options for food and zero for alcohol. Also, southwest allows pets but there is no pet relief area!!! TSA agents were kind, helpful and quick.

I don't have a lot of experience with airports, but RDU seems like s good one. It is very clean and the TSA employees are very polite (even at 4am). Signage is very clear and overall the airport is easy to navigate (even if you're half asleep)

This airport is an hour and a half away from Saint Andrews University in Laurinburg North Carolina. The airport was very clean. And getting there was very easy, with departure drop-off clearly marked. There's no place to check baggage curbside. I flew Southwest. Once you are past security there is one restaurant to get food and drinks. And a little shop to buy magazines, snacks, and gifts. Although the magazine shop was completely empty and closed when I was there I'm assuming due to Covid. They did have chairs marked off for social distancing.

Easy in, Easy out. The phrase Parking Parking Garage is not reflective of what I was expecting. This facility was clean and inviting.
The first floor has people movers that span the full width of the structure. Chrome, glass and botanicals abound in architectural style of the "parking garage". For a first impression, the Airport Authority did a great job.. The passenger terminal did not disappoint.

I had the WORST experience with the security check...

I had the WORST experience with the security checkpoint here. My toddler had been learning about taking her shoes off at airport security, and I statred taking her shoes off. Well, apparently you didnt have to take your shoes off for this checkpoint, because the man at the metal detector just yelled aloud at us that we didn't have to take out shoes off.... while I'm trying to explain to my daughter to put her shoes back on, he just keeps screaming as if we were dumb, with no patience at all. This was at about 4 am, there were MAYBE 3 people behind us.

As if that wasn't bad enough, no one would directly talk to us, just a man who literally yelled aloud when my elderly mother didn't put her bag directly onto the conveyor belt (which had a little wall beside it and hard to reach around) and instead pushed her bag onto the rollers that come before the conveyor belt. The staff behind the conveyor belt just stood there, with her gloves on, and the man at the metal detector just literally screamed aloud that "WE ARE NOT YOUR MAIDS, you need to push your own bag through" over and over again. My elderly mother didnt realize they were talking about her and thought her bag was taking so long because of all of the medicine in her bag. No one would just tell us, no signs that say specifically to have to reach around the wall and push, nothing. Just yelled.

What a piece of crap, to yell at a toddler and an elderly woman. And the other staff just stood there, looking at us.

We don't get on planes alot, but to be sure, people make those mistakes before. Unless there are signs or someone telling them, how can everyone know? They left a sour taste in my mouth. I have never had an issue at any other airport security before. Laziest people ever.

This is the best airport I've ever visited! In addition to free wifi there are charging stations in each gate so I know my laptop and phone won't run out of battery. Customer service has been great so far as well. Very clean and organized.

This was previously a 5 star review until Jamie Wallace at RDU airport location threatened to physically assault me because he did not like me using my rewards at his location from my Emerald Club membership. National/Enterprise has borderline criminally cancelled my membership without valid reason while I still had over $300 of unused credit. I've reached out to area managers, risk managers, corporate customer service, and others yet no one ever returned a call. I have since switched to renting with Hertz and already a President's Circle (highest rewards membership level) member. Jamie told me he didn't care about the thousands of dollars yearly he lost from a customer like me because in his words "there are a million other customers". If you need to rent a few times a year Enterprise and National might be ok but if you rent regularly don't expect them to honor their rewards system. Worst experience with a major corporation I've ever had.

Good and easy to navigate airport. Also depends on the time and you travel. 5am-8am on Monday and Friday Super Busy. Thursday @ 8am there is barely a line @TSA.

Parking is not cheap, but it is not Big City fees. Ie: $20-25 per day for Premium vs Boston is $35 per day for basic. Parking can be as low as $10 off site and a shuttle in....
.
Restaurant are decent. Service is fairly quick at most places.

The rdu police and traffic officers are abusing their power at the Rdu airport. As we all know it is COVID and the business is very slow. The official rdu taxi left because the business is so slow. We the licensed taxis in the Ralrigh, durham, chapel hill, Cary and the rest of the municipalities drive to the airport to see if there are customers needing to taxi because the airport doesn t have a taxi service at this time. The rdu police have given 4 taxi Traspass ticket an say if they came back to the airport the will be arrested. I received a call today from a detective stating that if I come to the rdu airport to pick any customers I will be arrested because a traffic officer Cearia said she try to give me a ticket and I refuse. I ask the rdu officer to allow me to see the video they are basing the evidence on. . The said they had warned me before so I have no day in court to defend myself. I will contact the rdu board and the news media to get to the bottom of this abuse. There s no taxi service at the airport and it s COVID. We the city taxies are try to risk ourselves Yo services the customers that are coming to rdu airport and the Rdu Police are treating us like criminals. The rdu police captain should take a look at this kind of abuse towards the taxi driver in the COVID time. This is ashamed for the Ralegigh durham airport

I ve been to so many airports all over the world. RDU is my favorite. Even though it s an international airport it s small and very easy to navigate. We lost a bag checking in during the wee hours last year. Three kids in toe and many bags. I was very upset as the bag contained essential medications for my son. Airport security helped us locate the bag and tried to assure me that everything would be okay as all of this was taking place.

This airport has come a long ways during the last several years. Terminal 2 is beautiful, spacious and easy to navigate. The TSA lines are also quite manageable here. I travel a good bit and I rarely wait more than 10 minutes in the security line. Terminal 1 is in the process of getting a major overhaul and not a moment too soon. It is quite dated and I usually avoid having to fly out from there if I can. I'm sure that will change once the remodel is complete. Also, the flow of traffic in and around the airport is better than most airports around the country.

It is a awesome airport! The views are great, and you can see many cool takeoffs and landings of airplanes! Also when you pass it on I-540 you can see airplanes landing and taking off above your head!

Pretty nice airport in general. Been here a few times, and the only time I ve had problems is during weather. The security is usually quick, and the terminal itself is quite large. The restaurant selection isn t great, but they have something for everyone. The bathrooms are clean, and in general everything looks well-kept. There are charging stations/outlets everyone, though the wifi is often a little sketchy. Transportation in-and-out is pretty simple and standard.

Probably one of the worst airports I have been in for getting in and getting a seat, at least on the Southwest (terminal 1 (a)). They are like Wal-Mart they have 9 gates but only have 4 of them in use. So all 137-ish people per flight have to try and cram into MAYBE 300 seats. AND you will need these seats because flights are ALWAYS delayed here. Only way to get a seat is to walk down to the other side of the terminal and hope they announce any changes over the loud speaker... Good luck.

Coming from a life of grabbing and dropping people off at LAX, RDU is an incredibly smooth experience (most of the time). Walkways everywhere, decent seating, free wi-fi. Knocking a star off due to a really bad understaffing of TSA employees that occurred during Spring Break during a 8:00 AM flight. Almost missed my flight and watched the line go around the airline check in stations. RDU TSA: get more staff during high travel volume seasons!

First, Mr. Claude Crandall was the most helpful, informative wheelchair transporter I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. This gentleman made my trip through security and to my gate a pleasure. He gave us numerous facts about the airport and the shops while in route. He certainly made my experience the best I have ever had in an airport.

Awful. Had to wait 35 Minutes Friday 2/21 for a cab (only one cab company allowed to work the airport - how do you say price fix) and after the ride never got my (we will email you a receipt) receipt. I have pics of the lines waiting for cab at 12 midnight.

This airport is not keeping up with demand.

Apparently, RDU doesn t believe that babies may need baby food or formula when flights are delayed/cancelled. I had enough formula for the day, but not enough to make it almost 24 hours after my flight was cancelled. Not one of their shops sells either of those things, but will give me a meal voucher so my 7 month old can eat a burger or a pizza...

Super clean, rarely crowded, parking is easy, security had always been quick. Parking to gate including security takes about 20 min

Pick ups are always very easy even if you have to wait at the arrivals deck for a little

This is a terrible airport. I fly frequently because of my job and if there is any other surrounding airports in North Carolina, I would gladly go that over RDU. Disgruntled workers, vending machines and other food options are always out of order or broken, overly crowded lines because of slow and angry employees, dirty bathrooms. Just an overall bad airport. Won t be flying through there if I can help it.

The Raleigh Durham Airport is quite pleasant. Open, airy, and calm by airport standards. Concourses are wide and divided by moving walkways, making it easy to walk around whomever you please. Food selections are standard airport nonsense, nothing special. Restrooms are clean and spacious. RDU is the poster child for airport maintenance.

While here to pick up a friend I asked security where a certain airline pickup was, he replied "just keep circling till you find them." (1 mile to circle around) when driving threw looking for my friend security tries to rush you by telling you to hurry up, this makes it unsafe for someone to look for their friends while driving. Security needs to be reevaluated.

Torn Between three and four, lines can get ridiculous, but they move at a decent pace. Get to the airport a minimum of an hour early, once you get through the airport is easy to navigate. Usually takes 25 to 30 minutes to get through security line

My son is obsessed with Delta planes, with the observation deck closed due to COVID, we pay for hourly parking and let him have his airplane time that he loves so much. Amazing views, we pack our food and picnic it while listening to the radio control tower. Grounds are clean, view is amazing, staff and police always wave, an easy and fun thing to do during these times.
