I am usually not a sucker for rustic accommodations. But this place had me at check in. I was able to stay just 10 minutes out of the Big Sky ski resort. And for $100/night I got my own little cabin. This place was rustic in the truest sense - no magnetic keys here - only real keys with dead bolts. The suite came complete with a real wood burning fire place and a deck that backed up to a babbling brook. Lastly breakfast was included with my stay which was made complete with a whisky bacon gravy for the scratch made biscuits. And the staff was as friendly as I've experienced in the hotel industry. Would highly recommend this spot.

Rainbow Ranch was a truly magical place to host our wedding weekend. Their event staff was attentive throughout our entire planning process, and their hospitality and warmth could not have been matched. They also helped accommodate our changing guest list and unpredictable weather leading up to the wedding itself :) Our families and bridal party stayed on the ranch throughout the entire wedding weekend which made our ceremony and reception even more special! And last but not least, the food all weekend was outstanding!

The rooms are atrocious. The worst I have ever experienced; stains, smells terrible, seemingly unclean, loud, and very outdated. This is not worth staying at for the typical young outoftowner looking for a nice place to relax. Example, I felt so disgusted by the cleanliness of the bathroom that my wife and I both chose not the shower or bathe for two full nights/days and waited till our next stop. It s actually that bad.

However, the restaurant is fantastic and the staff is very friendly but sadly doesn t offset my experience staying.

Do not stay here.

Absolutely beautiful place. Under some construction in the back to add some other nice amenities like bar and fire pit. We were not disturbed by any noise. The room was beautiful with rustic wood flooring and decor. Fireplace was prestocked with wood and right below the TV. Room also had beautiful double sinks, large soaking tub, and large walk-in shower with rain shower head. Very happy with our stay. Also starting June 8th they will be serving fresh from farm dinner options.

Scott was awesome. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The staff was hospitable and helpful. The restaurant was outstanding. We enjoyed the food so much we didn't want to go anywhere else. The fireplace by the hot tub was a must-do. Loved being able to enjoy the outdoors in this beautiful location. We took a day trip to West Yellowstone and Ennis. Saw lots of wildlife. Hikes we did and recommend: Ousel Falls and Upper Beehive Basin. In our room, we would have loved a king size bed, otherwise the bed was comfortable. Had a Keurig in the room, but only decaf coffee was provided. However, the hotel staff was very accommodating in giving us to-go coffee every morning. The grounds were stunning. We sat by the Gallatin River (on property) and enjoyed the scenery while drinking adult beverages and eating pizza...a wonderful memory. The rooms were clean. We had a second bedroom which was quite crowded with furniture. It would have been a tight fit had we had anyone staying with us. We used that room to hold our luggage. Outdoor dining available and recommended. We would definitely stay here again.

The waiter was very inattentive with us having to flag him down time after time. We were never offered dessert or coffee. When we asked for it he said they had little to offer. Overall, the price we paid was not worth the trip. So many better options. When I asked the hostess if the waiter was new he said. Ummmm, I think he s been around awhile. When we explained our concern he just nodded and said, thanks for the info. Too rude and inattentive for a high priced restaurant. Would NEVER return.

We stayed overnight for one day and reserved the two queen bed room. The beds were completely separate with a door between the bedrooms. Very nicely furnished rooms and comfortable. The breakfast was complementary and has many options including sausages, eggs, fruit and bagles. The surrounding area is very nice as well, a beautiful campus with easy access to the River and ponds. Overall a great experience would definitely go back.

Visited early season, so amenities were not available (restaurant, etc) but still an amazing stay. The staff did a great job and sharing information and offering services. The rooms are good and the fishing is amazing. The guys went fishing right behind the lodge on Hotel property. There is a nice Park Trail right behind the lodge which makes for a wonderful walk to burn off the complimentary breakfast. Can't wait to go again.

My wife and I stayed here for my annual Montana fly fishing pilgrimage. Great place. We stayed in one of the luxury pond side rooms. It was very large and very comfortable. Bathroom had a large soaker tub and a large walk in shower. Room was rustic looking, but very nice. Bed was comfortable. Complimentary breakfast every day was good.
Grounds very pretty. Right on the river. Some anglers taking trout right there.

More expensive than Bucks, but worth it.

Pro: the landscaping was meticulous, the rooms are all named cute little names (we stayed in Beaver), the water pressure in the shower was great (despite other reviews), dog friendly, each room has a back porch with chairs (ours faced a rushing river), complimentary breakfast, fireplace in the room (also a con), hair dryers in room, screened windows that open.

Cons: the room smelled strongly of burnt wood from the fireplace (I guess there's no avoiding that), the bed sucked in sooo many ways (too firm, the headboard was cute and rustic but not functional, if you wanted to props your pillows up to sit up to watch TV the pillows fall through the headboard to the wall), the pillows look fine but magically flatten to nothing (I stacked up 3 pillows and they were flat as a pancake is 60secs), the TV is small, no microwave, the bathroom is outdated, the room was too hot (we had to open both windows to get a cross breeze, by morning it was chilly, we were on the end unit so we had two windows instead of just one), the hot tub was closed down in September. Dog friendly but you're not allowed to leave your dog in the room unsupervised.

My wife and I were married here in front of the Gallatin River and the shadow of the gorgeous Spanish Peaks. Susie, the event coordinator at Rainbow Ranch, is wonderful to work with and we highly recommend this venue!

Food fell way short for the price. I felt compelled to give some feedback even though I wasn t asked (1/2 of the meal was not finished). I was offered complimentary dessert for a poor meal that was $130.00! Disappointing

We arrived after a long day in the car at 5:30PM. We were told the chef would be off until Thursday and were given a basket of boiled eggs, one apple, one yogurt, 2 juices and terrible cinnamon rolls. The smoke detector was beeping so we called to have the battery changed after an hour of the beeping I took it down from the ceiling and placed it outside, someone came to change the battery but didn t put it back on the ceiling. No shampoo, body soap or conditioner in the container. Everything closed in this area this time of year (Easter). Very expensive for what you receive! Best thing is the view!

We didn't stay in the lodge, we dined at the restaurant for our 17th wedding anniversary. The ambiance is rustic cabin flair and was nice with a fantastic view of the mountains and river. We had a very limited menu because it's off-season. We had an appetizer of sourdough bread topped with foie gras pate and goat cheese which was delicious. We also had the filet tenderloin which was cooked to perfection with a rich demi-glace. Very tender and flavorful. The service was perfect, low-key but professional. I would highly recommend.

This is a two part review of the lodging and restaurant.
Lodging - 2 stars
Great potential in those river facing cabins but they were in dire need of new carpet and a deep clean. The tub jets were filthy, none of the countertops, etc had been wiped down, the grout was dark in spots and cracking but the linens and fridge were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the property was beautiful. A couple in the hot tub told us the pond view cabins are updated and nicer.

Restaurant - 5 stars
We were fully expecting overpriced average food but were shocked with delicious and perfectly cooked duck, jidori chicken, and bison tataki. Aaron was an excellent server and their wine list was great. The covid continental breakfast was actually a quick sit down with eggs, potatoes, and bacon that were delicious.

Rainbow Ranch has, for many years, been our favorite place to dine while in the Big Sky area. Unfortunately, it was a little disappointing this time around. The atmosphere and service were still excellent but the menu seemed very limited from what it had been in the past. It also seemed that all the guests were in one little room and they didn't have very many servers. In the past, no matter the size of our party, when the meal was delivered to our table, several servers brought it all out at the same time. That was a nice touch! Sadly, it's not one of the places we plan to go on our next visit to Big Sky.

Ashley hostess/bartender/manager funny great personality. Cameron server personable attentive. Caesar and spinach salads and pork replace all good. Special elk bison beef chili mostly beans very little meat. Ashley asked re chili and we said all beans even tho asked Cameron who ensured no beans. Ashley comped the blackberry cabernet sorbet which was the best item we had.

This establishment is one of a kind. The management isn't pretentious or snobbish, the front desk staff friendly, and the restaurant could stand side by side with any of the finest. The lodgiing itself is very modern, there's a great hot tub and the views are spectacular.

A some what disappointing experience. Wild mushroom flatbread was sent back as it was overcooked to a cracker. Ridiculous small pour for an overpriced Oregon Pinot. Beef soup was flavorful but lackluster. Meh
