This place is fantastic. Amazing variety of plants. Must see
Beautiful garden with plants from Asian countries only. Great gift shop with art and nice things to buy. They have public restrooms, plant sales in their nursery, and a place to sit and picnic where they have live musical entertainment.
Beautiful gardens that are well cared for. Entry price is pretty low too. Great place to have a picnic or relax. Loved it!
Excellent, and you can borrow an umbrella when needed!
Upcoming showcase of Spring Blooms (March). Spring hikes here are always better with good amount of Winter rain (this year is dry - but hike still good).
Beautiful, but the cost is fairly high for the experience.
Gorgeous, plenty of places to picnic, and is ADA accessible.
Gorgeous area to hike through. It's pretty astonishing to see the burned rubble just on the opposite side of the fence from the fires last year when the gardens are absolutely lush themself.
Its a nice and quiet place for hiking few lakes and relaxing areas.
This is one of the best surprises of Sonoma County. It is our very own Buchart Gardens!! I'm planning to visit at every season to maximize my experience - and they accommodate handicaped people!! (but you have to call 2 weeks ahead for that)
Nice gardens specializing in East Asia trees, but also having a rose area and many water lilies. Don t walk over to the greenhouse and shade house as they are not open to the public.
Not much to see for the $16 entrance price it is charged
THIS PLACE IS Absolutely AMAZING !!!! So quiet and peacefull the beauty is insane ..could spend a lot more day here :)
beautiful and sprawling gardens. worth a trip if you're in wine country.
I recommend going here in a nice morning. You will be walking up and down hills. There are a lot of great trees / plants but unfortunately not too much shade so bring a hat, bring a water bottle and go in the morning.
Worker at the gift shop was very friendly, gave us a map and recommendations on the trail path. They did a very good job with this small space. I'm not a botanical type of person, but still had a few plants that spoke out to me.
There are picnic tables outside of the trail and inside the trail. No dogs allowed though :( There are workers in their golf carts going around too so you won't be able to sneak them in.
Sprawling naturalized garden of Asian natives, many endangered. Easy trails, some accessible to wheelchairs. Water fountains located throughout for hydration. Charming gift shop as well!
An amazing conservation garden filled with wonders.
Absolutely stunning! To see varieties of trees from Japan! How they have recovered and nurtured rare trees. Amazing! Be prepared to walk ALOT, it is Cali so sunscreen, hat, water. Plenty of places and shade to sit. Very quiet here. Enjoy!
Beautiful trees set on a hillside leading up to amazing views.
Beautiful gardens. Everything is tagged and labeled. They have a self guided map with key points to see and description on the back. Trails graveled and easy to walk. Very well maintained. Took a ton of pictures.
Absolutely beautiful. Lots of free hiking space, rather than curated gardens. Fire got up this the fence of the garden, but didn't burn the garden itself, which is quite striking.
Such a beautiful place. Tranquil, relaxing. Features a breathtaking prayer flag monument at the peak of one of the hills with a beautiful bird's eye view of the garden below. There is also a very Zen little gazebo by a small creek/waterfall in a shady part of the garden. I have seen little frogs in the ponds in warmer months. There's also a small pond, that waterfalls over into a much larger pond with a fabulous little bridge that gives you a cool view of both ponds, plus a few benches around so you can sit and enjoy the sound of moving water.
Very interesting history about their seed gathering abroad in Asia and surrounding areas. Majority of gardens are made up from those seeds.
Excellent place and relaxing with nature, my kids love their activities.
Beautiful collection of Asian trees and other unique plants, there are beautiful water features including a small waterfall. There is plenty to see. We used to love coming here, though today's price will cut my visits down, it used to be about 40% less $$$
Scenic botanical garden meets hiking trail spread across 25 acres of primarily Asian-origin plants across an expansive backdrop of Sonoma vineyards .
Beautiful collection of plants and a fantastic location for a fall walk in the woods!
So peaceful and amazing. It was very hot (105f/40c) when I went, but it wasn't a big deal thanks to the water fountains all over the place.
We definitely had a great time here, even in the Summer when much isn't in bloom. This massive property is gorgeous with lots of trees from China, Japan and other areas of Asia. It's not a small garden, either. There is a map and the property has about 2 miles of garden trails.
You'll also see a few sculptures, two beautiful and scenic lakes, and other lovely sites. and even might catch a glimpse of the large family of wild turkeys roaming the property.
The gift shop is nice and quaint. There are also picnic tables to eat (bring your own food). We saw a family have a tablecloth, chips, wine and sandwiches which triumphed our fancy Subway. So you could go either way with that.
I recommend going in the Spring. Although there are plants that bloom at different times of the year, July probably isn't the best month to make the trip here. It's not a free park.
The terrain is fairly simple. Most people can walk it There are a few steep parts, but you can avoid them if needed.
The summary of tips: Wear sunblock and bug spray, bring water, bring a picnic, visit in the Spring for your first trip. Wear shoes that can get dirty. Look for a deal on Yipit.
A very unique Botanical Garden. Great place for walking hiking and picnics. The look is different each season
Easy walking, lots of asian tree variety so that's different. Sunny and shadey. Very pleasant
Beautiful natural surroundings with streams and waterfalls. Well kept. Water fountains along the paths. The paths are about half shade. Some incline/decline paths. Most flora are labeled.
Good to walk around for hour or so. Amazing place place
Beautiful place will go back in a couple months to see the bloom.
Loved it. The day I went the weather was great. Enjoyed walking through the gardens. Not your typical Botanical Garden but still very peaceful and enjoyable.
An interesting educational tour of the Botanical Gardens, which are rich with various species from around the world. A collective array of beautiful diversity that was highlighted by our very knowledgeable tour guide.
I was pretty surprised even off season. We went a few weeks after the fires, so we got a very different perspective. Highly recommended.
Rustic and charming, the Botanical garden is situated between two beautiful vineyards on a small hillside.
Wide variety of unusual species of trees (many are from Japan/China) - the staff did a great job with labeling and almost every plant is labeled.
Picturesque pond + bridge in the lower level of the park. There are also picnic tables/benches/pavilions throughout the garden for sitting or having a quick snack.
Beautiful colors throughout the garden, even in the Winter. Paths are gravel/dirt so not stroller friendly, but otherwise a good place to bring kids. There are some uphill/downhill parts - wear comfortable walking shoes.
We loved our visit today, and will definitely return in the future.
Such a beautiful place. Perfect for a change of pace from the wineries along the Hwy 12 corridor. Perfect to share a bottle of wine in the many areas of this wonderful garden
I'm biased... I love most gardens and this place is no exception. They have a wonderful selection, and their set up is very thoughtful. Bring a picnic and plenty of water. You can walk quite a bit and still not see all of it!
Wonderful place to visit. I recommend a monthly visit to see everything bloom.
The Japanese garden was much nicer than I expected. It took about 1-2 hours to see the whole place.
Extensive collection of maple and rose species from China and Japan.
Fiance and I enjoyed an early morning walk through the garden. Water lilies were just blooming. Very pretty and we'll kept. Highly recommend.
We came a little early in the season, but the park and views are phenomenal
A little gem of nature , surrounded by wineries
very peaceful and serene. great giftshop
We went there on a slightly rainy Tuesday in May. There were rambling roses, irises, water lilies, flowering trees, and lots of cool vistas around the ponds.
Great way to spend two hours waking the trails. Worth the $12 entrance fee.
Nice trails through a mostly lush landscape. Good hiking up to the prayer flags.
Visit from Florida. Beautiful. Worth the visit. Glad these gardens were spared by the fires!
Just the drive it self is scenic..very peaceful and they have lots of different plants that you can enjoy..
Botanical Research Garden. The place for plant lovers who want to see plants in natural settings. Pretty walks. Best in Spring when plants are blooming.
Very nice collection of California native plants...non-profit..there is a charge $10. Lots of parking...go on a cool day...spring would be better.
Rlw
An enjoyable walk around the gardens, make sure you take a bottle of water especially on a hot day...has a nice picnic area under the trees to sit under the cool shade and reflect on your walk.
Cost: $12 per adult for self-guided tour. There are a series of groomed paths that take you to 2 small waterfalls, ponds and foot bridges. There are many plants and flowers, however it is not lush. There are scattered picnic tables and an arbor where you can have a picnic. Overall, the 2 miles of paths are rocky and at times steep.
, not good for wheelchairs.
Lovely gardens. Easy walking trail. The plants they have here are really something else. The little waterfalls in the park are lovely as well. Hiking to the top of the site leads to an amazing view.
Exquisite! Beautiful and interesting and a good walk to work off the food you've been eating while your in the Napa/Sonoma area..
It had a lot of interesting specimens.
Most of the plants here are from the Orient.
WOW a must see in Sonoma Valley one of the best in the world - here in our Valley
Interesting place to visit. Great views and quiet. Can see the damage from October 2017 fires. Good exercise hiking around and had picnic there. Less expensive than Berkeley's Botanical garden by at least half. Got great handmade sandwiches at Glen Ellen Market and Deli a couple miles before.
A great place to learn about plants also some are for sale.
Lovely winding walking trails, some shady, some sunny. I recommend wearing close-tied comfortable walking shoes since many of the paths are gravel and gravel and sandals don t mix!
Good place for a lonely hike, meditation, or like I did, go with my family. I don't know exactly, but I estimate that the hike all the way around took less than 2 miles.
Great gardens and soon home to the 2018 SIFF Juried Award for the Best Feature Documentary THE NEED TO GROW June 28th, 2018
