OMG. I am not a vegetarian but this place might make me one! Four of us went and the food was unbelievable. The proof..I have NEVER written a review of a restaurant before. The smoothies, meals and desserts were all so great that we all tried each other's food. You gotta try this place.
Drove an hour to get there, only to find out it's just an office in an industrial park. No store front, no nice cafe, like the website shows. The woman wouldn't even let us in. I know, it's Covid, but there were people coming out when we got there, and she said she had a customer inside. She said she had plenty of food, such as soups, desserts, etc. but she wouldn't show us any. She said she could just tell us what she had, or we could check the website. We asked if she had and literature, or meal plans, and we were directed to the website again. We sketchy. We won't be ordering.
This place is a must visit for vegans and I would say even for meat eaters. The place is full of energy and good vibes. I read on the entrance counter that the co-founder of the place is an ayurvedic practitioner. Food options are numerous and the staff helped us with ordering and most popular dishes. They also take carry-out orders and I believe also offer some nutrion/diet consultation. Must visit if you are in the vicinity.
GREAT experience and food!!!! As a first time customer the owner was so nice and courteous. I had a power bowl and it was fantastic! Looking forward to returning.
Love the fresh food. Many tasty GF and raw options. The crepes (mostly made from lentils and brown rice flour) are terrific. They're loaded with veggies and fresh toppings. Desserts have no added sugar and made fresh on location. Only takes about 20 minutes to get your food during busy times.
Spectacular vegan restaurant with a cool zen vibe and holistic community feeling.
From the smoothies to the no sugar no oil all natural bakery there are multiple lunch and dinner options from bowls to stir fry. Very food sensitive ingredient conscious. Friendly helpful and gracious staff
You will be hooked!
One of our favorite restaurant. Organic, vegan, Fresh, healthy, fun and very tasty food here. And service is very good too. We do breakfast, lunch and dinner + desserts here. I wish there are more restaurants like Purple Sprout!
The food was very good, im not a vegan person.
The atmosphere is catchy, if you re looking for a really good meal and spend an evening with that special someone or just be with friends or family then this is the place to go. The cashier was knowledgeable and recommended various items on the menu that stood out, also she was very polite.
Sorry can t remember her name. Lol she had tattoos on her forearms. Will definitely come back to this place with friends.
WARNING TO ALL; EVEN OLD CUSTOMERS AS I WAS! PLEASE READ.
The Sprout has moved to Buffalo Grove, which pretty much says all it needs to say as far as how they've changed in quality. Poor quality by shady people in a horrendous town. When it first opened in Wheeling it was exciting to have a fresh, clean, Vegan food establishment. The prices have always been a bit high but you used to pay for quality. Over the years there, they sort of ebbed by but it was never bad enough for me, my friend or family to stop going. The addition of meal plans seemed great too.
Well, let me WARN YOU NOW! I made the mistake of ordering a meal plan. First off; I spoke to them before their revamping of a site and moving locations. They did not inform me they'd be running specials for new meal plan customers and also charged me for asking for a few substitutions, which I came to learn that if purchased online, I would have gotten for free. So they overcharged me and refused to credit any sort of difference in compliance with their ads.
Second, when I arrived to pick up my order, NO ONE WAS WEARING ANY MASKS or PPE, including the Owner who walked back from the Kitchen! I said something about this as that's deeply disturbing and dangerous to me and she told me that "they didn't feel they needed to all the time. And we do so when we feel like it." Now, again, I understand why they moved from Wheeling where I'm sure it's properly enforced and they can get away with such behavior in Buffalo Grove but I still find it unacceptable. Their unmasked children were even running back and forth from the kitchen. Who knows how many unprotected people breathed, coughed, etc over my food and yours.
Third, the size of the meals are ridiculous for the price. Years ago they were quite ample but now you are playing past premium for something the size of a TV Dinner.
Never again will myself, friends of mine, family or colleagues patron this establishment. The quality has gone beyond downhill and their rude and flippant attitude towards safety and customer service is enough for me. I would rather use a delivery meal service than ever waste my time or my money here again. I suggest you do too. Save yourself some aggravation and possibly a disease.
