Very pleasant. Nice grounds to walk for a bit while eating a delicious ice-cream. I ate the Belgium chocolate and that was sooo good. Slightly bitter taste like a dark chocolate. The raspberry flavor wasn't as good, in fact it might have been frozen yogurt (no one said when we asked). Cheese is good to with lots of samples to try. And they have a cafe / bakery or you can order from the menu.

We came for lunch, there were some nice choices with a couple of vegetarian options. The little cheese quiche thing I ordered was delicious and it came with a tasty salad. The meals were quick to arrive - we ordered just prior to midday and they were probably at 40% capacity at the time. The staff were pleasant and there was plenty of santiser available.

Service was extremely unhelpful, unhappy - it seems all their fame has gone to their head, and just expect that people will turn up because of their name. Not realising that they still need to provide a level of service expected at any cafe/restaurant... food was good, but not great.

Very disappointed. Food was ok, but the coffee tasted like yucky water. Maybe the barista forgot to add the espresso. It was not even drinkable. The server brought the coffees.. I asked about mine being extra hot. She replied, 'They're all hot; you can see the steam.' Not impressed. Lovely setting, but really need to improve the cafe.

I tried Puhoi Valley custard on a home baked pie when I was a guest in a private home outside of Christchurch.
I became obsessed.
I planned on bringing some back to the US with me, but it didn't work out.
I'm stricken.

Thought of the Puhoi cheese factory is a great place to take my uncle visiting from the UK so We want for lunch as a family of 5 ordered and I had something that was called Welsh rabbit and was definitely not a good meal for one person better Sheared if anything it had very over dryed bread and a bad coloured soupy consistency that said combining of three cheeses but it looked very unappetising and it didn't even taste of any cheese or really anything it was very boring and bland and it came with a sad looking side salad chutney and a mushroom the Mushroom looked like it was totally chargrilled and tasted yuck, the rest of the family had different things my dad a latte which was practically cold, my uncle ordered something like the blue cheese croissant which was overshadowed by mushrooms!!!! and the blue cheese was very minimal to none also accompanied by a side salad which was drowned in dressing and looking sad as well, my sister ordered something that came with chutney and when the food turned up there was no chutney on her dish lack of care or effort in the food was very poor and just a note to the chef that if you're going to highlight your cheese why let the other flavours overshadow what you're trying to highlight is the cheese right!? that has to be the best and most biggest flavour in the dish I would think I'm no chef but to go to A Cheese Factory an get no yum, beautiful, cheesey gooodniss is just sad won't be going back anytime soon sorry guys

The cheese selection are really good! I bought brie and harvati. Yum. Didn't dine there tho. The icecream is delicious! Ask for "kiddie scoop" if u only want to sample it. The "single scoop" is large; +/-20cm tall..

The quality of service has reduced in line with the portions and as the prices have increased over the years.

There are significantly more visitors, but, it seems, less service.

The quality and flavour choices in ice cream used to result in P hoi being our family's go-to place for family treats, now it's just not worth the travel time.

This place has changed a lot since my last visit. The emphasis is on the cafe now. I had visitors with me and wanted to introduce to puhoi cheese and take some with us on our road trip but hard to get attention from staff for the cheese shop. Nice place to stop and have a bite to eat and a coffee. There is a playground for the kids too

Food is good but the service was awful. I was really surprised that the attendant looked upset and spoke to me in a rude tone when I asked for a bottle of water as they had run out of prepared bottles. She was so annnoyed that I asked. I don't think that i will be going back there again.

Mate if you want cheese, these ladies got it. You could probably order 10, nay, 15 different cheeses and get more than you asked for. Also they do this white choc caramel milk that will get you drunk with ecstacy.

Was ok . Got what they call a steak sandwich that comes with fries and a salad. Sandwich was just - like minute steaks on a piece of bread with a few bits of onion and salad was just a few bits of greens!

My visit to the Puhoi valley cheese cellar was made such a dissapointment by the several incompetent teenagers that work there. There was not even a confrontation, but their snotty attitudes put a bad taste in my mouth. When talking about More

Excellent coffee that has been awarded many times. The opportunity to discover the excellent products of this excellent brand in an idyllic setting. The chocolate tickshake is superb. You can taste cheese for free and see the puhoi products made under your eyes behind a window. And cherry on the cake, there is even a playground!

Lovely grounds & playgym for children to play on! The menu had a good variety for all tastebuds although I'm an eggs Benedict fan so would love to see that on the menu as an option. Definitely recommend as a place to take visitors!

Visited the cafe today. We ordered a large shared cheese platter which was plenty for the three adults in our group. The food came quickly and the staff were friendly. The kids had toasted sandwiches & mac n cheese (which was delicious by the way). Will return again.

Went for lunch around 12pm with 4 adults and two kids. The kids were able to be entertained on the playground while waiting for food. We got a larger antipasto cheese platter and two kids breakfasts. It was a busy Easter Sunday but the food was great so was the service and it was nice sitting outside in the sun.

If you love cheese then this is a must to visit. It has a great selection of cheeses to purchase, and you have the ability to try before you buy.

The cafe runs a great operation, with the menu being top notch. There is plenty of space outside to relax while the kids either run on the lawn or go wild on the playground.

One piece of advice, there isn't much shade here so make sure you pack a hat and some good sunscreen

Relaxed location. Friendly staff. Not overwhelmed with the toasted sandwich. Thick hand cut bread would make it special. A bit country!
Great value for buying cheese to bring home!!! Love the double brie.

Food was great - in far larger quantities then expected, which is a big plus. The ice cream drinks are a must have - they were amazing.

Service can be a bit inconsistent though, with the cheese Platter arriving over half an hour with no communications. However they did make a strong apoligetic effort when confronted so overall the experience was good.

Nice place to stop, and the award-winning cheese is excellent. Unfortunately though the cafe and service is a bit lacking. To get to a 5 star experience I would suggest: 1) use your own local organic milk and cream in the coffee you serve rather than supermarket stuff 2) make an ice latte if someone asks for it - it is just espresso over ice with milk after all. 3) make your coffee stronger. But worth stopping in for the cheese alone.

If you love cheese, stop in at historic village Puhoi before heading just out of the town to the cheese factory. Lovely surroundings, yummy cheese tastings and good prices straight from the makers.
