fantastic atmosphere with THE BEST ice cream and award winning cheeses
We went there yesterday (Saturday). Terrible service, the teenage girl behind counter didn't know how to ring up a simple cabinet croissant . We waited over 20min, then had to go get it from them. Plus for the whole 30 minutes we there 4 tables never got cleared of food. Couldn't help but wonder if boss was away. Croissant did taste great however.
Good for ice cream stop. Kiddie size enough and not so expensive
Great ice-cream and cheese but staff kindof avoided serving us which was weird
Cheese....good cheese and lower prices than the supermarkets. Stopped for lunch too, which was pretty good.
Super cute, quaint little cheese factory. Good for lunch or afternoon cheese tasting with a glass of wine
If the cafe is busy, give it a miss. We arrived in the afternoon and was met with rude staff and chaos. Food was delivered to the table with no cutlery, food was missed, angry waiters.
Good service, but not enough staff on busy days. Great atmosphere though.
Different varieties of cheese, Beautiful garden outside.
Lovely cheese purchased & enjoyed during following days.
Delicious ice cream enjoyed there
We were hungry after a canoe trip down the puhoi river. There were a lot of people but the food was just great and the price was also great
We had almost 6 plates and 2 add ons for 5 adults and 2 kids and we were all satisfied
Just mind that they don't take reservations so sometimes you might find hard to secure a table.
Well i will definitely visit again in near future!
You can taste many kinds of foods with a lot of Fu Hoi cheese
Good price and good taste. There are too many people, but this restaurant is inevitable
You can wait on weekends or holidays as we don't accept reservations. Highly recommend
Brilliant ice cream with unusual flavours Blue Cheese n Honey and Chai Latte. Yummy pastries. Beautiful area with clean facilities. One of the best cafes we've been in NZ.
Highly recommend going here if you love cheese, they had a great selection and we got some delicious cheeses for our Easter holiday!
Ice cream comes in many delicious flavours...peanut butter, vanilla, berry and coffee even. Puhoi range of yoghurt, flavoured and plain organic milk and cheeses some of which we now find in the supermarket in pleasant but busy surroundings
Great ice cream and cheese. The platters could use a little more bread - we ran out halfway through.
Yummiest collection of cheese in Auckland. The food is fresh and delicious. And the ambience of this place is bang-on for a perfect family brunching day!
This place is amazing ! Great food in an very peaceful atmosphere
Nice place, we went on a sunny day which helped. They were really good about me being celiac and had lots of choices. Staff were really friendly too!
Difficult tests , nice to relax and they have play ground for kids
Great food and a great place to get out of the city to get some fresh air. Having a fenced off play ground was a nice surprise too.
Absolutely amazing breakfast and really reasonably priced cheese.
Great location, really interesting to when the cheese makers. great coffee, food and obviously cheese!!!
2nd time in a row we've visited, and all tables outside weren't cleared either time. We were there for a late birthday lunch, said it closed at 4, but no mention of kitchen closing at 2. Got there just before 2, couldn't even order fries for kids Ordered cabinet food, underwhelming. Food delivered, no cutlery. Cheese and ice cream always great, and great area for our kids to run around and chase ducks, and great playground. Service just needs to improve.
Cheese, cheese and more cheese! They also have different dairy products on sale
Friendly staff, good food, fine cheeses, especially the blue!
The little sister in the ice cream place is so beautiful, so beautiful, as a model can be an instant hit, the kind of beauty, blonde, beauty
Lovely cheese. Great place to stop over.
Bacon and Egg absolutely fabulous.
Don't forget the flat white!
Lovely.
Always a great spot for a platter in the sun. Dogs welcome outside off the terrace.
Anniversary breakfast with my wife was great. Good good, good atmosphere.
A great place to meet friends for lunch. Yummy platters. Cheese shop with tastings.
Excellent for a nice drive and breakfast on weekend morning
Food and wine etc here is fantastic. It is always SO busy on the weekend though and I rarely manage to get a table without waiting a really long time for people to leave. If you don't keep your eye out, someone will turn up 10 mins after you and take the next available table from under your nose. Would be great if they had a "Please wait to be seated" policy - but I understand that would be difficult. Still love it and still come.
A hot spot to get your cheese needs. Very busy lots of people enjoying the experience
Over priced and very slow service - pretty setting and good for kids
Lovely atmosphere yummy cheeseboard and puhoi ice-cream. Will be back
remember few year back was great, but not ant more
One of their female senior staffs at casher was awful and so rude that I never wanna go there again. The only problem is the lady who should not deserve to work at the nice cafe. What a shame.
We have always enjoyed visiting this place since we found out about it 4 years ago. The staff aren't really the bubbliest people but they make sure to provide you with good service. The last time that we went to Puhoi, December 2018, we realized that the food options have decreased and it seems like they are now focusing on marketing their cheese, which is fair enough. The food and coffee was still great.
nice icecream, good location, especially good for families
Service could be better needed more staff on a busy day to clear tables and refill cutlery boxez but food was very nice
Fantastic place for brunch/Lunch. Saturday and Sundays are very busy from mid morning to late afternoon. Parking can be tough so give yourself some time for that on weekends. Over all great place to stop on Your way north or south.
Definitely worth a visit. Beautiful establishment. Great food and ice creme.
A great pitstop on your way north of New Zealand, not to far from Auckland. Good coffee and tasty cheese platters.
6 customers in line wanting to order 52 minutes to take those orders ... just a joke ...the guy taking the orders had no idea on what to do !
Tables dirty and disgusting
Shane as food is ok
But way too hard to get it
A little disappointed in the organisation of the cheese room and cafe. Stopped by for some cheese tasting but there wasn t any. It was busy but the staff seemed to be chasing their tales. Self serve Cutlery and Water ran out plants of times. Maria was a superstar running out meals and bring back dirty dishes (she was the only one that seemed to be efficient on that day. Come on a week day and your expectations will probably be met but weekends it s a nightmare.
Beautiful spot to have a quiet, relaxing lunch. Took my mother and daughter who both enjoyed it very much. Great food, reasonably priced and great staff.
We had the cheese platter, which true to its reputation, was amazing with its dips and chutney. Coffee flat white were great.
To the manager in charge yesterday who
a) Gave me a partially empty bottle with leaves and debris at the bottom, when I asked for water, expecting me to wash it, fill it, and then get my own glasses
b) Shut the partition door, and the main entrance to the outside garden, of the room we were still eating in, isolating us from the main cafe.
1. Regulate your emotions. A smiling demeanour is needed for work in the hectic hospitality industry. Customers only get a glimpse of you when they visit, and make judgements from there. Maybe you had a bad day at home, but do not bring it to work.
2. Delegate work and responsbility to other staff- a sector of the cafe to look after, so that a) All clients are cared for, and no one is neglected b) As the manager, you are able to oversee operations without feeling stressed out managing the frontline by yourself.
3. Communicate to customers with respect and an open body language, regardless of how difficult they may be. It is not easy but stay professional.
To the other staff, good job. it was Easter Sunday, and busy. Hence, it is natural for service to be slow, but you guys were able to remain composed, friendly and professional with a smile on the face.
I will like to thank Georgia for apologising on behalf of the manager, acknowledging the bitter experience, and handling the issue in a sensitive and friendly manner.
The ice cream is amazing and the cheese is even better.! Wow
Must visit if in the area, great food and of course CHEESE!
Nice location. Kids playground which is well fenced. Outdoor seating has a nice view of a pond which you can walk around. Typical cheese platters. Large selection of wine to sample with the cheese. Plenty of parking. Can get crowded and service slows.
Was made to feel like we were they only ones there. And it was packed lovley nz small town experience
Service fantastic. Welsh rarebit disappointing, as was the macaroni cheese. Mince was delicious.
Very limited lunch menu. Pies are reheated in a microwave. Staff serves you like they are doing you a favor. Beautiful location. Please guys add fish and chips to the lunch menu.
Would give 6 stars ... food was great, service even better! Kids love playing in the park.
Love cheese = go there! I got some amazing parmesan from there. Cozy place.
Always friendly staff, love the food and atmosphere
The variety packs consisting of Feta, Camembert and Brie are delicious and economical (typically $10 to $13 per pack).
Loved the place. Great cheese and cafee. Cheese plate is a must to try on their menu. Soup of the day was fantastic. Great place for lunch. We were with a kid and it was good. This place is very much into kids. Great playground.
