I seldom write reviews but there are times when one should. Since July 2015, I have been meaning to write a positive review for this particular embassy, but it took me 6 months!

There was a situation when I could not get online appointment in a timely manner to attend a meeting. I called their hotline at night 2am and someone picked up the phone and assured that its doable. Then I wrote an email to which they replied the next morning, around 9:30am. They even cooperated to accomodate another colleague of mine in a similar situation.

I have heard horror stories about other embassies and rude awakenings caused by some ill-mannered staff, but The Netherland embassy people are professional and friendly. They go by the book for requirements, no exceptions, but make you feel welcome and not intimidating. The consular office was a young man (name hidden for privacy), friendly and respectful and well behaved. He was patient and helped us out in a timely manner.

I like this embassy, have respect for their respectful behavior, and appreciate their friendliness. No wonder, people say The Netherlands is a friendly country! If you are looking for a European vacation in Schengen lands, its worth going to The Nederlands as well, and your money spent will be worth it. If you have all documents proper, the VISA experience will be good too.

Great location away from the craziness of Washington. My husband and I arrived about 30 minutes early (first appointment). The security guard arrived at the same time. Thought I go in early and luckily they buzzed me in no problem. Waited for about 10 minutes or less and went through all the paperwork. It was a pleasant experience and almost made me homesick to my own country.

They are nice but my visa got rejected just because i had 88 days left on my passport but not 90 as they wanted.
They have no mercy :( . All i asked was just one hour short stay visa in shengen airport transit but they have no compassion at all.

I haven't been there in person, only called them a couple times but my God! Those people are the nicest ever! Very knowledgeable and friendly!

I called to ask about visa procedures in consulates on the West Coast, and the whole Dutch mission have just made everything in their power to make things easy! (E.g. can apply in Canada if it's closer/more convenient to you).

I just want to say thank you for being so nice and helpful! Definitely makes me want to see Netherlands soon!

very impolite and not a good service, I was told during the request of a new passport that when my passport would be ready I would get a message via email from the embassy. I just check the website with my tracking number and the passport seams to be ready for pick up already since 2 days ago. I called the number on the website and during my conversation with a dutch speaking person she told me that she could not check my tracking number and she hang up on my face while I was talking with her. Sometimes I forget that the dutch do not know how to work in the public services.

This is concerning an experience with my application for a brief visit to the Netherlands. I have an african passport that requires a visa. The Consulate in New York interviewed me and never asked for any documents than was requested in the guidance document on their website. However, I was refused the visa and emailed a 4 page refused IN DUTCH!! Do they live in this world?? I never like embassy personnel since i believe they get this jobs via nepotism and corruption and are totally arrogant!! But this beats everything it seems...who the hell can speak dutch? An appeal to their Netherlands Immigration Office brought forth ANOTHER letter in dutch...ridicilous!!
