In my opinion, this clinic offers more than I have probably seen so far and is very likely not limited to short stays, regarding FU (caring, accommodation) which I think a little late.
In any case, it is how I experience life here, and also as an outpatient, a flexible clinic.
I was in the private department for a good 7 weeks in August / September 2019. Caregivers, psychologists and doctors were always available and competent. Food was excellent, the service staff extremely friendly, helpful and flexible. The sun terrace is beautiful with a unique view of Lake Zug. Equally inviting is the dining room. Coffee, mineral and fruits were always available. The room was very clean and pleasant. The therapies were purposeful and varied. Contrary to many of my prescriptions, I can only give a top grade and recommend the private and semi-private department with the best of my conscience.
I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. Incredibly repressive, inhumane treatment by senior physician and nursing staff. The patients are left to their own devices, are hardly cared for or personally addressed.
This type of psychiatry, unfortunately practiced here, has not evolved and is reminiscent of measures used at the beginning of the last century.
As a visitor, I was startled to find that more than half of the staff were not really interested in their patients. It would have been very easy to smuggle something into the closed one. The staff could not tell me several times where the person I wanted to visit was. Most of the staff seemed very unmotivated. From someone else, I had to learn that patients discharge themselves without trying to convince the patient otherwise.
You need a thick coat for certain nurses! With doctors .... you need not to mention who know everything better anyway, and then you go, take it or order any other provider with such reviews I would otherwise make a big bow.
Positive:
Not bad food nice view
Negative:
I and other residents found the staff to be somewhat impersonal, sometimes without understanding.
Animate is described in the brochure Activate but most of the time you are simply put in the corner or classified as seriously ill, lack of care and attention overall more than appearances
The building is well structured. The facilities meet today's standards. The rooms are simple and simple, yet big enough. The specialists and the staff are competent and friendly. The cleanliness and hygiene are right. The meals are varied and delicious. Of course, all wheelchairs are common. Animals are not allowed. Cafeteria with adjoining terrace available. The view is phenomenal. Simply tasting possible. Snack and drinks machine. Small selection. Quiet ambience. The opening times are the visiting times at all stations. The cafeteria and restaurant is open on Sunday from 11 a.m.
This clinic is not recommended to anyone !! The doctor is very naughty and funny. She always knows everything better and can not control her stupid sayings. The nursing staff is totally overwhelmed and is also very naughty. They all have somehow complex and can not stand it when you're in a good mood, just because they are always in a bad mood or have mental problems themselves. Your facial expression is also not motivating and I would say that one is only sicker than before, so never make mistakes and here can be instructed. There are better options like in Lucerne at the hospital.
Yours sincerely
Sorry for my very detailed comment. I hope to be able to serve you when choosing a clinic. When I came in for a good 1-month stay, I didn't know what to expect. I allow myself to write a comment after this rather long time, because before I started I didn't know how to rate the Google ratings. Lots of flops, lots of tops, but little in between.
MAIN PROBLEM: What bothered me the most was the interaction between the staff (doctors, nurses, psychologists) and us patients. I can't judge everyone, but about 2/3 of them treated the patients very arrogantly. I am used to the fact that many people have prejudices about psychiatric illnesses. I hoped for more from health workers. In Oberwil I often felt like a "diagnosis", not a person. More specifically: the staff ...
1) always knew everything better, although I work in a hospital, which the staff of course knew
2) had very little understanding of non-psychiatric illnesses (hardly believe any physical complaints, even if you have a diagnosis and try to explain; what is blatant is that the clinic is worse equipped than any family doctor's office - no X-ray machine (!), hardly any laboratory tests possible
3) unfortunately often did not listen, i.e. you also had to repeat uncomfortable requests, often early, late and night duty, e.g. if you are not feeling well mentally or physically (very blatant that they do not coordinate better).
No matter which diagnosis leads you to treatment - in most cases it is common that self-confidence is very bad. Due to the arrogant handling of the staff with us patients, this unfortunately worsened significantly during my stay. Somehow the last thing I could use.
EXIT (symbolic of what went wrong): When I had enough after more than 1 month's stay and wanted to quit, it was only "against medical advice", i.e. against signature so that the personnel could secure themselves. Otherwise I am not allowed to leave. So I signed, had no choice, since I really had enough. When I walked, I wished for a medication prescription or the evening and morning medication the next day. Since it was already 5:00 p.m., I was only able to see a family doctor the next day. I was refused a prescription and medication - I have to go to the family doctor, they don't give anything if I quit "against medical advice". My attempts to explain were unsuccessful and the staff had no understanding at all.
Imagine that I went home, deposited my things, then had to go to an emergency room for the medication! After waiting 3 hours, for which I have great understanding, and the senior physician of the emergency room scolded the psychiatry for 5 minutes, I then had my prescription. That off to the emergency pharmacy, where I received the medication at 10:30 p.m. Deductible & franchise "I let through anyway" due to the inpatient stay. But more than stupid that the general public now had to bear the costs of the short, unnecessary visit to the emergency station + the high emergency surcharges of the pharmacy (CHF 340 - medication costs already deducted !!!).
CONCLUSION:
- I do not know how the 4 or 5 star ratings come about. My stay in 2019 deserves 1 star and definitely not anymore. The good food doesn't change anything.
- If it works somehow, I recommend everyone to think carefully about whether it's really only inpatient and not outpatient. If it is stationary, it is certainly worthwhile to think carefully about the possibilities.
- Some good CH clinics sometimes have waiting times of a few days, which I think should be accepted - at least for planned & longer stays. It is better to wait a few days and then spend the weeks or months in a good clinic than to go into the first best.
In the geriatric ward it was surprisingly nice with mostly nice staff.
