They started managing our condominiums this year and I am completely dissatisfied with the unprofessionalism of this business. Mostly I'm dissatisfied with their failure to communicate to residents of maintenance that would require us to move our vehicles. Recently someone was preparing to remove the top of the carport while my vehicle was parked under it. It's common sense to me to inform residents to move our vehicles.
Apartment complexes are Protea Real Estate's main business. In more recent years, they have unsuccessfully tried to branch out into condominiums, as many ChamberofCommerce.com, Yelp & Google reviews attest.
If you are condominiums that have high standards or even medium to high standards, a homeowners’ board and bylaws, STAY AWAY from this company. It is not equipped to manage a quality property. By evidence of their poor maintenance and lack of professional management, they obviously regard upscale condominiums as if they were cheap rental apartment complexes on the low end of the scale. Protea will not help increase your property values…just the opposite.
One Google reviewer, Alison McDaniel, said about Protea, “I’ve never seen such incompetence and corruption.…They hire incompetent, low level people to do maintenance. They create problems and solve none and they lie about EVERYTHING. If you are thinking of buying or renting at a property that they manage, think again. Save yourself the headache and regret.”
I don’t believe I could’ve said this any better. Even the apartments they manage are poorly maintained.
I will say that 1 thing they ARE good at is making excuses. They’re not proactive and they’re constantly on the defensive.
