Project Everyone: Accelerating Progress Towards a Fairer World by 2030
Project Everyone is a global campaign that seeks to put the power of communications behind the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a set of 17 goals adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.
The mission of Project Everyone is to accelerate progress towards a fairer world by 2030. The organization believes that communication is key to achieving this goal. By using creative and innovative ways to communicate about the SDGs, Project Everyone aims to raise awareness and inspire action among individuals, businesses, governments, and civil society organizations around the world.
One of the main strategies used by Project Everyone is storytelling. The organization works with filmmakers, artists, writers, musicians, and other creatives to develop compelling narratives that bring the SDGs to life. These stories are then shared through various channels such as social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter or traditional media outlets like television and radio.
Another important aspect of Project Everyone's work is partnerships. The organization collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders including governments, NGOs (non-governmental organizations), UN agencies, private sector companies, academic institutions and others who share its vision for a fairer world by 2030.
Project Everyone has also launched several initiatives aimed at promoting specific SDGs such as Goal #5 - Gender Equality or Goal #13 - Climate Action. For example:
- Global GoalsCast: This podcast series features inspiring stories about people who are working towards achieving one or more of the SDGs.
- World's Largest Lesson: This initiative provides free educational resources for teachers around the world on topics related to sustainable development.
- Action4SD: This platform allows individuals and organizations to showcase their actions towards achieving one or more of the SDGs.
In addition to these initiatives, Project Everyone also organizes events and campaigns to raise awareness about the SDGs. For example, in 2015, the organization launched the #GlobalGoals campaign which aimed to reach 7 billion people in 7 days with information about the SDGs. The campaign was supported by a wide range of celebrities and influencers including Beyoncé, Malala Yousafzai, and Bill Gates.
Overall, Project Everyone is a unique organization that is using communication as a tool for social change. By leveraging partnerships, storytelling and innovative initiatives like podcasts and educational resources for teachers around the world on topics related to sustainable development they are making progress towards achieving their goal of creating a fairer world by 2030.
