Wonderful atmosphere, great food, excellent entertainment.
I have been going for over 40 years. Although still good. I think the restaurant has moved too much for me. It's not as traditional. It is still good but I visit less.
Lovely grounds and hotel, food is good and staff can't do enough for you.
A beautiful place, first class staff, food outstanding you must try it
Lovely golf club catering for weddings and other functions. Only downside is very garish red up lighting that makes it look like something from a horror movie
I saw how the managers treated the employed personnel and I was very sorry. They should respect them. I will not come back.
Beautiful hotel, tranquil surroundings - excellent food.
Our visit to the Rhubarb restaurant was a special treat and combined cocktails on arrival, a la carte dinner and tea and petit fours in the study afterwards. The service was very attentive without being stuffy, the food was good if a little under seasoned on the fish dishes and overly rich on the meat ones. The petit fours we delicious, as were the cocktails! We'll be back to try afternoon tea!
Good food nice place perfect for a romantic evening
lovely place to stay..They had a mother sheep and her lamb on the shower wall
This my place of work but can say for what I have seen and been part off got to say worth it.
Great place for afternoon tea. The decoration and the atmosphere was outstanding as well as the service. The whole experience was outstanding, I highly recommend it.
Great wedding! Very nice inside and good was great. Only downside was then portion sizes were way too small
It doesn't feels like a Hotel. It feels like a dream ;-)
Sumptuous interior that you wouldn't expect from this type of venue. They do a lovely afternoon tea.
Amazing place to have afternoon tea. Lovely atmosphere and fabulous service from all the staff. Will definitely be back.
Absolutely stunning small boutique hotel. Afternoon tea and dinner are fantastic. Would reccom3nd new year celebrations here. Children are welcome but may find it boring to them. Definitely a place for a romantic time away.
Best hotel in Edinburgh if not Scotland. We love this place . Staff, decor, rooms and food are excellent
Outstanding! The food was divine, the set menu was very affordable and the wine list was like 'Lord of the Rings'. The staff in particular deserve commendation. They were incredibly attentive and accommodated last minute requests with grace. We will definitely return to dine here in future.
Went to the dinner show "Taste of Scotland". It was great!
Lovely meal as always, remains my firm favourite place to go in Edinburgh for an occasion.
Lunch for 16 in a private room:
Not only did I dine and attend balls and weddings at ph as a student in the 60 s but then as you know we held our wedding reception on May 20 1978 in the stables on a day just as beautiful as July 7. 2019.
I have enjoyed fine dining experiences over 63 years (I started at an early age) in lots of countries including many 3* Michelin restaurants.
I can honestly say that ph is one of the very best and beyond remarkable at maintaining an extremely high standard of service, food, and ambiance over the 60 years since my first visit. Ph surely belongs in an elite class. The cost for the entire event was extremely reasonable .,,in fact I thought a bargain
Not only did we enjoy a lovely lunch but several of us moved out onto the lawn and enjoyed the spectacular weather until 8:30pm. An added bonus with tea and gin and tonics to refresh us.
You might ask: was there anything we could have done better?
In no way diminishing my glowing review I would like to comment
Should we last that long you can be assured we will be back for our 50th wedding anniversary if not before.
BRAVISIMMI TO THE ENTIRE STAFF AT PH.
Amazing manor house and grounds, great restaurant and fantastic people. Highly recommend.
By far, one of the best, and most romantic boutique hotel, in the world!
[Far superior to Witchery by the Castle, which has nice rooms, but no hotel common areas (such as lobby, salons, bar, etc) whatsoever.]
The level and attention to details at the Prestonfield is overwhelming.
The discovery of each salon is a thrill and an adventure on its own.
Your eyes tirelessly wandering from objects to objects, circling into the room again and again. Even the powder room is a surprise!
Another huge plus: the suites are actually 2 rooms combined, and therefore have 2 bathrooms. So, total luxury and comfort.
Rhubarb restaurant is also by far the most beautiful and romantic of Edinburgh. [Witchery by the Castle has low ceilings, and feel cramped, in comparison]. Breakfasts are served at the Rhubarb restaurant.
There is also salon Prive, a dinner room for 2. Although the thought of a private dinner seems appealing and mysterious, the room being so tiny actually feels awkward and somehow uncomfortable. There is no possible way to get up and move around, once you are seated. Also, there is no way to signal the waiter, if you need their attention. This room is also in desperate need of a better music system, and have a romantic playlist prepared. They were using an old CD player with the worst un-romantic symphony music. We eventually turned it off.
That being said, the hotel overall is a true gem, and a destination on its own.
Period house in grounds. Good wine list. Overseas guests always love it.
Very worthwhile hotels, ancient history, long culture and authentic Scottish cuisine are all embodied here, and I will definitely go back if I have a chance.
Lovely lovely lovely place! Felt like our own little countryside get away. The property is tranquil and cozy. The staff are friendly and hospitable and the food was an absolute delight. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back in the future. The Benjamin Franklin Suite is a must
Went for afternoon tea. Excellent service, excellent scones, cakes, sandwiches etc. The ambience is so relaxing.. recommended.
Was booked in for afternoon tea on Sat 24th Nov. It was a special treat for a friend 90th Birthday. How very disappointing ending to a wonderful day .
The tables were a bit crammed but no complaints aside from that. The food was great; haggis was interesting.
First time in the hotel, although I have picked up my parents from here after a Boozy Corporate Party.
An invite for afternoon tea. Not really my bag, but really enjoyed it, especially as the service was spot on and I hate lousy service. Must make the effort to come back and try the restaurant as I've eaten in both of James Thomson's other restaurants.
Beautiful garden , authentically Scottish, old school
This place doesn't need a review. It is exactly what it says on the tin. Fabulous in every aspect
