Ordered the Spaghetti al peperoncino and it came out coated in a dry chili powered. The flavor had little garlic and was below average. But at $14 a plate it was still overpriced. It is supposed to be butter, garlic sauce with whole peperoncino chilies not a dry powder.

I had one of the special of the evening, a buffalo culet (I think). The flavor was excellent. I could not identify all the spices but they really surprised me and worked well with the buffalo. The green beans had the same seasoning so that was unusual while the potato dish was also excellent. That said I was astonished at the $42 price tag for the dish. Since it was the special I did not see the price, I was thinking $30 max given that the 8oz Manzo dish was $28. Way overpriced and I tried not to let that ruin what was a flavorful dinner.

The service was good and I would rate it excellent if people would smile. I watched the kitchen staff watching the dining room and interacting with each other and I didn t recall anyone smiling.

In summary, 2 plates of spaghetti, 1 buffalo patty, and water to go around = $95 with tip!

The service gets 5 stars, however, the food gets the 2 stars. I had the Veal Prego and a ceasar salad. The salad should have been much colder, but i did like the anchovies atop. The veal was unfortunately over done. The breading was burned around the edges which gave it a burned taste. The fettuccine was very good, the spinach could have used more taste to it. Again my service was amazing for a large group of 10 and the server was very accommodating. I wish the veal had been better.

I really loved.
Ask for PAPARDELLE CON CONIGLIO, is fantastic; Creme brulle and finish with a very good expresso. Thanks

Absolutely pitch perfect neighborhood Italian gem. Prego has a long history of making fresh pasta daily and serving it with the freshest, local, seasonal ingredients. A wait staff that has been loyal to the restaurant for decades adds a warm, homey feel to the place that is priceless.

Went for the first time prior to a play last weekend - we enjoyed all of the food and the service was wonderful. We had Manzo steak entree and the Zucca risotto, and the panna cotta for dessert. All was great and we will be going back!

Nice environment, good wine list, but for the prosciutto pizza we had it can be improved so that the prosciutto is not so thick-cut and not actually cooked when served. Also the waiter kept coming to add water, even only after one sip. Water should be added when the glass is around three-quarter empty, not when it looks almost full. He adding-water business is disrupting our conversations and mood to enjoy food.

Food excellent, service great. Thank you Kathy. The bread and dipping sauce mouthwatering. I had ravioli and a salad. Both were very good. Expect to spend at least $40 a person without alcohol or dessert, but it's worth it. Yummy.

An upscale restaurant with great service and amazing food!! The prices of the entrees average in the $20-somethings and the food is tasty and wonderful. The interior is comfortable and classy and the restaurant is not that big and can get crowded, but generally clean.

No joke, this is of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Definitely tasty food. Cannot recall the exact name of the soup, but it was really delicious, and the people there are welcoming and friendly.

Highly underrated place. The food and service are always very good. Every time I go I say I am going to get something other than the Parmesan crusted snapper, and then the waiter describes the specials and I have to get it. So good. The waiters here are very friendly and helpful.

Every dish was perfectly prepared. I could tell they use quality ingredients. I am in love with the olive oil they use! The staff were professional and helpful. Wait time was not an issue, although the sourdough and herbed olive oil kept my table more than occupied. This was an elegant, satisfying dining experience, and I am not one to give out reviews lightly.

Excellent service and friendly staff. Portion size is good. Atmosphere is nice. We will return. The little neck clams are over the top, very highly recommended. Don't skip these if you like seafood. Top 10 restaurant in Houston.

We are very critical, but this has been a consistently fine dining experience every time we visit Houston. Stand outs include sea food pasta, fabulous salmon, and wood fired pizzas. In Rice Village, and within shuttle distance from the medical center hotels.

I m attempting to be kind when I write this. Maybe it s just houston? Worst Italian food we have ever had. The only thing edible was the cake.

The lasagna was undercooked yet the meat in it was incredibly burnt and salty?

The only reason I m writing a review is because of the amount of money we spent and inability to eat anything besides the dessert

Prego is the Italian village restaurant at home feel that we all need right now - and, well, always! The owners and the staff are so welcoming, which makes you want to dine for hours! The wine list is incredible, and the food is so delicious that it makes you feel all warm and cozy inside! Every staff member makes It such a delightful experience that you just want to make it your evening go-to spot - as if you live in a small Italian village and you stop by the same local spot down the street every night to visit friends, have a glass of wine or a relaxed meal. Even for those of us who are gluten free ir vegetarian, there are INCREDIBLE options, and it makes me so happy to see this!! As far as distancing and CoViD are concerned, the staff are doing everything right: it feels safe and beautiful. We dined in the evening outside and can t wait to go back!

Prego is an outstanding eatery in every way measurable. On this visit we were in for lunch and, as usual, we were not disappointed. The waitstaff was first class. The specials were exquisite. The food was top shelf. Highly recommended for a casual business lunch that will surely impress.

The service was ok... The space was cramped by intimate. I wouldn't recommend for parties of 5 or more. The food though! Excellent food across the board, everyone at our table loved what they ordered and we all shared a little. It was simply good food. Well done.

It took a good 8 minutes before asking for order (drinks or food), waiter delivered wrong plate, returned and took plate away while I was eating from it saying, "Made a mistake with your order", pasta that was taken away was good, but wife's Margareta pizza was okay. The parmesan chicken was okay, but a bit too buttery. There was also a pesky fly that bothered us the entire dinner.

I will be writing a letter to the owner. Our party...

I will be writing a letter to the owner. Our party consisted of 4 (2 couples celebrating our anniversary, 38 years and 28 years). I take a lot of pride in recommending Pregos to others. I work in the Texas Medical Center and even when I have family visiting Houston from Australia, Pregos is the place to go. Or, at least it used to be until Saturday evening 5/20/2017. The service was horrendous, the best I can describe it is that the minute we walked in, it felt like we had just pulled into the 290 freeway, construction delays, followed by bad traffic jams and it kept getting worse. It started with poor service at the bar. Your bar tender does not know how to make a quality and classic Old Fashioned. Tell her to learn the recipe from the bartender at Goode Company seafood. When we finally got our table, I expressed my dissatisfaction regarding the old fashion to our waiter. He chose not to manage my comment and deferred it to the bartender who finally came to our table. She began by telling us, the customer, that she had been bartending 20 years and the art of muddling (We know about muddling and we also know that if you don't know what you are doing, you can ruin a classic Old Fashion). Goodie for your bartender but that's not what we wanted to hear. I requested a vodka and tonic. She brought the vodka in a glass cocktail glass with ice and a shot of tonic in a separate shot glass. Then she asked if I wanted the tonic and I said "yes, that is what I requested." She proceeded to dump the tonic into the glass, splashing tonic all over her hand, my glass and the floor. So much for class, none whatsoever. Then, our waiter took our food order after waiting almost 20 minutes for him to come back to our table; he served our food and we never saw him again until the end. He never cracked a smile, as a matter of fact, the vast majority of employees did not smile, they seemed under barrage from an overcrowded restaurant that just took in too many customers at one time. How does this make for a quality dining experience? When Pregos begins shoving and ramrodding customers into a small facility, all for the almighty dollar, you wind up sacrificing the quality dining experience for those of us who gave up dining elsewhere to come to Pregos to have a pleasant anniversary dinner. Coming out of the ladies restaurant, I saw the male hostess with the curly hair in a ponytail and expressed disbelief and dismay over our dining experience. He also looked woefully shocked and also under a lot of pressure. I shared with him that it was our anniversary and that so far, it wasn't a happy one. He said he knew it was our anniversary and quickly sent 4 glasses of a poor quality champagne. Shouldn't he have started with this at the beginning versus the end of our dining experience? We quickly asked for our check, we just wanted out of there. Our waiter brought 2 desserts and laid them on the table with 4 spoons. He never said a word to us, not "thank you for dining with us," not, "happy anniversary," nothing, just plopped the desserts onto the table. We decided to eat the two complimentary desserts. We all agreed they were delicious and we were very sorry because it was all a bit too late. Prego's brand of being a Houston dining tradition, located in the heart of Houston's bustling Rice Village went out the window last night. And, to think that your chef was featured recently in The Charles Osgood Sunday Morning Show made it worse because you simply did not live up to the accolades touted in the news.

Sincerely, Table 57, Check #91

Every single scallop in my pasta dish was bad. Ammonia tasting bad- possible cause of food poisoning if I would have swallowed them. I had three bites of the dish and asked the waiter to inform the chef that the Scallops were bad. The waiter removed my full plate of uneaten food and quietly said he would tell them. Not even an I'm sorry. They didn't offer to remove the item from the check, they didn't offer another dish. I didn't push the issue or ask for concessions, I think it's embarrassing when people make a scene, and it's my sister's favorite restaurant, so I don't want to ruin it for everyone else. My wife's salmon was uninspired. I had to be careful not to drink my water all the way down to the bottom because I was trying to avoid ingesting the slime from the ice machine - Marvin Zindler RIP, you are missed. The chocolate dessert was so sweet that my wife and two kids of 6 and 2 wouldn't eat it, although my wife said the tart was good. The others in our party were happy, perhaps we just ordered the wrong items on the wrong day. I did notice that the fish dishes appeared overdone for my taste, but that's super common. If the family wants to return, next time we will avoid the seafood. Extremely expensive for the quality you get (6 adults + 4 young kids = $500). We are foodies, and know great food, but we are not picky. If the food was decent, this review would be different or nonexistent. Service was good which gave them the second star, but I would rather have crappy service and great food than vice versa.
