This is my second in-patient visit to PRH. On both visits I have been treated courteously and all my questions and concerns have been satisfactorily addressed. My first stay was extended for major surgery, the second for testing. On both stays I found the staff warm attentive, and caring. I would certainly recommend PRH to any of my friends/acquaintances that need or require hospital care!
My appointment was scheduled for a weekend. I was told to enter through the main entrence and check in at registration. I would check in with QR code i received after pre-registering online. When i arrived at the main entrence security adviced that registration is not open on the weekends and that he had no idea what the QR code is and what to do with it but that i needed to register at the ER. Turns out the ER is on the other side of the hospital and had to walk there, thankfully i can still walk and wasnt hurting too bad.
When i arrived in the ER, still prior to my appointment time, i needed to make my way through the waiting room to register with outpatient in the corner of the room and then sit and wait my turn in the ER. I still had to fill.out paperwork even though i preregistered online and had a QR code vut she didnt knownwhat tondo with it either. Let me paint this picture, i am a healthy person prepping for surgery and i was required to wait in a waiting room of sick people.
The ER organization was a disaster. The ER registration was asking patient's to remember the own order they came in, patients trying to social distance but not having enough room to sit, patient vitals being taken in middle of waiting room, personal questions being asked in middle of waiting room.
45 minutes into my wait i told outpatient registration i was heading down the hall to wait because a family came in and ER was not quiet when he indicated they had sure signs of COVID-19.
After 55 minutes when ER registration left the waiting room (with no supervision) i asked what is taking so long. He said you have to understand when you come in on a weekend you are second to anyone who comes in through the ER and we are short staffed on weekends. I said then why bother schedule anyone on the weekends. He said you were scheduled (with attitude)? I said yes. He said OH!
On his way back he said he stopped to check in on a time frame and they would be out for me soon. 1 hr and 5 minutes later i was called back. My appointment lasted10 minutes and i was done.
Trouble with your knees? This is the place to get them fixed. They ve got it perfected at Portsmouth Regional, the staff is great, the place is clean, the signs are well placed so you can t get lost and the doctors know their stuff. You ll be dancing in no time!
The staff was courteous and efficient. Fixed a doctor's office screw-up rather than having me come back. Truly appreciated.
Outstanding visit. My visit was for an MRI. Parking was good, initial greeting excellent, signage to department easy to follow. MRI personnel were superb. They made the procedure easy, stress free and efficient. Their friendliness and good attitudes made the process, involving staying still for the entire testing, very easy. Thanks to all for your professionalism.
Had an incredible experience here. From checking in, to pre-op nurses to surgeons, anesthesia, recovery nurses and everyone in between. This hospital has an amazing staff that create you with care and compassion. I never felt rushed and was always told what was going to happen prior to it happening. We were definitely in good hands. Would not hesitate to come back for anything and everything. Thank you to all who made my experience so great.
Even though the ER was extremely busy my husband received excellent care for his heart issues. They kept a very careful watch on him scheduling surgery for him the very next morning. Thankfully all went well.
The Portsmouth Regional Hospital was really amazing and wonderful. I had same day surgery and from the time I arrived to the time I left I felt very comfortable and safe. Staff treated me like a family member. Everyone was very professional and courteous but at the same time very warm understanding of my being nervous about surgery. Even my intake prior to getting to the hospital was very easy straight forward and excellent customer service. The blueberry muffin was warm and delicious after not being able to eat since the night before. I need to have surgery on my right hand and feel completely comfortable with having the surgery performed at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital next year! Well done same day surgery staff and thank you for a terrific experience.

Great hospital. There was a bed shortage but I don't think that is the hospitals problem with Covid going on. Nurses were great and my cardiologist Dr. Giasudden is excellent.
