This market is always rustic, but I must say that the stalls have been halved. I remember the years 1979 - 80 were more, we went almost every Sunday to take a walk. In the midst of so many beautiful people.

Meeting of nations, people and language from all over the world in one place to shop, wonderful! It's just like anywhere else in the world where money is on hand for opportunists waiting to take you down a 1.3 km street of stalls selling everything you can imagine.

You can find everything, even junk but in the end if you know how to look well you can find well-made things and if you know how to deal with it, I go home satisfied, it is certainly no longer the portese door of 30 years ago but it still has its charm

Historic Roman Sunday market. Too bad it no longer has the charm of past years. With antiques stalls ... By now it's just a big local market. In my opinion it has lost its particularity of the past years

Too bad it is becoming a bad market like many others. Too many stalls with the usual "chinoiserie", the used is then no longer "sought after" but simply rags. Some stalls of vintage objects survive .. It was absolutely forbidden to allow a market with such a long Roman tradition to become like this !!! ..

On Sundays, porta portese has a huge market with very low price goods of very high quality: watches, underwear, sweaters, coats, gloves, belts, backpacks, and everything for the house (pots, cookware, tools). It is remarkable. Only sunday. The market is huuuge.

Basically an enormous trash market. If you are looking for something that will be broken in your way home you are in the right place. You will find anything from cloth to snacks for very low prices and even lower quality.

The market is a big disappointment.

The market is a big disappointment.
Starting from the Castles, it took an hour and a half to arrive and find parking.
Arrived there we found a market of clothes and chinoiserie as they are found in the fairs and markets of each country.
I expected a flea market ...

Probably the largest flea market in Europe! Go there if you want to do some affordable shopping! You can find everything there, shoes, clothes, bags, accessories, souvenirs etc. Bought some beautiful tops for 5 euros each when in the center of Rome the same tops costed 20 euros! Better to get there early in the morning as it gets very busy!

The Romans know, who is more testaccino.

The Romans know, who is more testaccino.
In that of Via Amerigo Vespucci, just a stone's throw from Porta Portese, on Sunday morning I barely restrained my baby frenzy as I walked along the stretch that separated me from the stalls.
And I felt the protagonist of a splendid fable, with all the joy I could then feel and so many desires to express.
Mostly, good toys of the past, no electronics or Chinese plastic.
Growing up, I keep close to the memory of the years spent in the largest open-air market in the capital.
For example, I remember the 1980s, when great deals were being made with the exiles passing through the North American shores.
In a drawer, I still jealously preserve a large collection of watches kept in the "box of time".
When I look at my references at the time: the walls, the shops, the smells of roasted peanuts ... I see something else, a melting pot of races, inhomogeneous uses and customs.
Our society has been enriched, to me it remains a veil of melancholy.
When memories take over it's because you get old!

The Rome Market. Tourists, pilgrims and visitors should not miss this Sunday appointment. One of the symbols of the Roman tradition, new and used in all categories including antique and vintage.

Historic Roman flea market. Every Sunday of the month. There are still interesting pieces of modern antiques and many stalls with everything your imagination can suggest to you. Comfortable and attentive shoes to pickpockets as in any market in the world
