Delicious!
This place has so many delicious flavors to choose from. It s basically sorbet, but they do have some other options. I have been there twice and never disappointed. The only problem I have with them is that there aren t many sizes to choose from, although the prices are reasonable so it s hard to complain.

At first i didn t want to have ice cream at first but when I find out it have no diary and it is fat free I took an chance it was delicious. I came straight out of NJ.

Heard of it for many years and only just finally tried it. I had the coconut and it was fantastic, the flavor was very intense and the consistency was great. My friends all enjoyed theirs as well!

Friendly staff. The Cherry Corvette was amazing! We will definitely be back!

Absolutely the best! The majority of the water ice is vegan. The service is superb! So many wonderful flavors to choose from. Kids love it! They love the kids, too! Some times you'll see Mitch Albom behind the counter, too.

Yummy place to grab a cold treat or even some popcorn. My kids loved it. It's like ice cream meets snow cone.

Awesome place wish there was one with a parking lot but worth it.

Extremely sugary! Not quality dessert at all. Not worth the price.
Updated: We had the coconut ice and Motown mash (my husband and dad couldn't finish the Motown mash due to how extremely over sugary it was :/ )

First time here. This stuff is delicious. Not like shaved ice where all the juice runs out. Will definitely be going back several times.

I really wish we had gotten ice instead of the Mud concoction. Don't get me wrong it was good just the sugar content could be tasted with every bite and many people do like that me, no so much!

Great outside setting in a beautiful active location. You have some shopping right across the street and down a block.

While I didnt actually try the titular product, i did have their popcorn. Well proporti9ned, has a nice full flavor, for the price you have a very healthy amount. Overall a nice place with a great quirky atmosphere

Not what I expected.I ordered the black cherry ice that taste like a sugary big gulp .I paid $4 for a small ...not impressed

Delightful! It's not slushy, it's not sherbet, it's totally unique and completely scrumptious! Friendly fast service, patient with first time customers, happy to pass out free samples! I recommend the "motown twist" style which layers soft serve with water ice for a cream-sicle in a cup! Did I mention they have SWEEDISH FISH flavor, or Horchata (rumchata) flavor??? Cuz they DO!!! :-D

I enjoyed this place products. However the business practices and customer service is very poor. After trying to purchase Carmel popcorn for 2 weeks. Keeping in mind this place is in the heart of Downtown Detroit and parking is no easy task. I was told that , "Mitch is sending all the popcorn to the Somerset Location"! When asked how they plan to sercies the customers in the Detroit location. I was unable to get an answer. I won't be patronizing this business anymore. Which is a shame I love their products and support Detroit Businesses.

Definitely a place to try if you've got a sweet tooth and you're looking for some non-traditional offerings not found at a Coldstone or similar ice cream parlor. The mix of flavored ice and soft serve ice cream is unique and delicious.

The fact that the profits go back to the city of Detroit make it at minimum, a place to try AT LEAST once.

I'm from Philadelphia so when I saw this I turned into a kid in a candy store. Now it's not a Fred's or Tranzilli's. But it was delicious, it has great consistency, pretty cool flavors. The only thing that I didn't like was that they put the pretzel i ordered in coconut oil. But when my Philly crew comes to visit I will definitely bring them here.

So glad to see this east coast tradition take off in Detroit! Mitch Albom has created another Detroit legacy, right off Campus Martius. The staff in this tiny shop are very sweet and accommodating, and will always make sure that you are given the proper attention. The only thing (that is to be expected for downtown) is that traffic and parking can be difficult (and expensive). There is a protected lot right across the street that is perfect if you are visiting the ice rink during the winter or going to see a concert in the summer months. Perfect for all occasions!

I first visited the popcorn store in Somerset, which is Detroit Water Ice's sister store. The lady working had excellent customer service and gave us samples to try!

I believe it was the same person working in Detroit, and I appreciate how sweet she is a lot. I came in with 2 of my friends, and she kindly answered all the questions we had about flavors and such. All the water ice is dairy-free, which is a win for our lactose intolerance.
My friend got swedish fish and banana. I got motown mash and banana. Neither of us like banana flavored foods but oh my god. It was so good!! I should note- Motown Mash was described to us like whipped cream with chocolate chip cookies mixed in, so probably not dairy free, but it was heavenly- with the cookie chunks and the marshmallow-fluff-like consistency, I'm salivating just talking about it haha. I was concerned if the motown mash would taste weird with fruit flavors, but nope! The manager told us that people love it with any flavor!

I also appreciated the fact that it doesn't melt like normal ice cream, I know it's super cold (Janurary) but I had mine in my car for HOURS until it completely melted. (I did eat the top part of the cup before I started driving just in case). Next time I'll be bringing some home for my family.

It's awesome it's in downtown Detroit, but not so awesome that it's so out of the way for me. I'll still be coming back down with my friends for sure!! I'll sure miss this a lot when I move to California.

Best place for a cold desserts in Detroit. Can't find their ice pudding anywhere else.

Chloe and the rest of the staff were really nice. The shop was really nice considering they were closing. I work in customer service and understand how annoying it can be when people come in right before closing time. Also the ice flavors are really good!

I purchased the strawberry lemonade with soft serve ice cream for my son and I and we LOVE IT.......hands down the best in town!!!!

Taste like when I go home to Delaware and order the mango water ice and pretzel

I am a fan of Mitch Albom, and this place is fun and creative. Nice, attentive staff too. However, the lines are long and the limited space felt claustrophobic.

Absolutely love this place. A little taste of Philly in the D. If you've never experienced wooter ice, make your day and grab some! Super tasty, incredibly refreshing on a hot day, truly a treat! Also, 100 % of the profits go to Charity!

Nice people and reasonable prices. The ice is good but a little weak in flavor. Still really nice for a summer treat.

We absolutely LOVE this place. Mitch Albom, Rosey, Michael Isabella and the entire crew run a great water ice shop in the heart of Detroit. The best part (besides the delicious flavors) is that all their profit goes to charity. I can't wait to see what their next idea is.

The ice cream "Motown Twist" is very good. This was my first time at Detroit Water Ice Factory it's very nice.

They have wonderful service and awesome staff! They were really helpful, since it was only my first time there. The ice cream and Italian ice was DELICIOUS! Definitely a five star.

In my experience, not the east coast version of ice water, but still pretty darn tasty.

My family and I went here, we will definitely come back! Amazing staff and food! It s variety is just right and we love the area.

Just kind of stumbled in here fell in love with it. Really cool atmosphere, tasty treats, and a very friendly and helpful staff. It's now a must visit for my future trips into the city.

The ices are yummy and the popcorn is pretty darn good. Also, all proceeds go to charity, so you can feel good about indulging in something salty and/or sweet!!

One of my favorite non dairy treats along with Carmel corn. You can't go wrong . Motown Mash with mint my odd mix but it works. Stop in a create your own blend
