Polar Ice House Wake Forest, NC Review

Interesting venue. We were at Progressive music. Great place for aspiring young rock stars.

Poorly managed unfortunately. Inexcusable lack of adherence by rink management to USA hockey rules. I would avoid for hockey based upon this, which is a shame.

I use this Ice House frequently. Can't beat 2$ for a big bag of fresh ice.

Typical ice rink but in a large facility with a gym, tumbling center, gift shop and more. Adequate parking but signage could be a bit better getting

Beth and her team have made birthday party planning an absolute dream! Basically we just show up! They go above and beyond by providing all of the paper goods in your child's desired theme, cupakes or a cake in the same theme, ice cream sundae bar, a small gift for the birthday child, party favor cups and so much more. They truly want the focus for you to be on your child, not all of the logistics. And the value of all of this really can't be beat! I've never found another party place that provides this much for such an outstanding cost! If you're looking to plan your child's next birthday party, look no further! Polar Ice House in Wake Forest is THE place!!

We love the Polar Ice House and visit it multiple times a week! They offer a multitude of classes for skaters of all levels and ages. I appreciate the free public skating that accompanies the classes so that my boys can continue working on their hockey skating to get into a league. Facilities are nice with several locker rooms available. Staff is really friendly and accommodating!

Being the only rink around I guess these guys feel like they can go cheap and people will have to come anyway. You definitely don't get what you pay for here. Considering the price you pay for activities here, one would think they could make some improvements to the place. With the level and amount of youth hockey that comes through here, it is a pretty embarrassing facility.

Polar Ice House is inside The Factory in Wake Forest. This place is awesome. In addition to public skating, they offer skating classes for all ages. You play hockey? Enroll in the hockey skating class. Figure skating? There's a class for that too. Classes for all ages, and reasonably priced. Check online for public skate times, as they differ during weekdays/weekends; as well as seasons.

Work out @ O2 Fitness, which is located across the mall.

The summer camp is the worse there is. Kids in charge don't care, while I was dropping up kids and picking them up, these teenagers were paying no attention to children at all. they really need a grown up in charge. It got even worse. My six year old got hit by a puck 5 times by the same camper, he had black and blue marks to prove it. One exactly under his left eye. He told me that he cried and told the "counselors" about it, and asked them to call me so I could pick him up because he just kept crying and and to go home. They did nothing, just put ice on the mark in the face. So my son decided to walk out of the camp, and go and look for me. I work in Wake Forest, but we live far away, so he is not familiar with the area. only second time in our lives we have been in The Factory.
My 10 year old son, notice his brother leaving and told the counselors, they didn't do a thing. My son had to go out of the place to look for his brother that was walking by himself in the hallway outside leaving the building.
When I picked them up. Nobody said anything to me, I found out when I asked my children for the black and blue mark on his face. I called to complain right away the manager told me he would look into it, a week later, still waiting for the call.

My kid is enjoying the classes and getting better all the time. It could use more seating but otherwise a very nice place to go and learn/practice new skills!

Standard visit here. Nothing bad to say, but nothing that really stood out either. Public skating for what it's worth. The whole family had fun.

We held our book club there with 4-6 grade and the staff was so helpful and amazing! Our class had a great time!

I've been going to the Factory for years now. The rink is nice and large and the zamboni cleans the ice just about every hour and a half, and occasionally they turn the lights out and put on the disco lights.

Wish there were some benches in warm area, too few booth

I go skating here once a year with family. It's always a good time. If you're looking for a decent local ice rink, give this one a try!

It's not a great rink it's been getting better but they need to update the locker rooms and the stands they are just so bad

Had my daughter's birthday party here. Fantastic staff! Also nobody had skated before so got the lessons, all the kids were skating with in 20 minutes. Thank you!!

A good place to ice skate. Two rinks allow for hockey or freestyle skating or public skating at the same time. See the website for schedule. If you want to learn to skate, check out lessons for all ages.

This is my son's home rink for hockey and I'm so glad. Not only are there two rinks which allows for more ice time, but the locker rooms are large and the bleachers have been updated. There are two party rooms and a well run snack bar. We're glad to be part of a great hockey community at the Factory.

Went to polar ice house for late night ice skate, checking ahead to make sure their hours were going to coincide. Got there at 10:30, and it was supposed to be open until 12:00 for late night skate. There was not an employee anywhere around. When we finally found one taking out the trash, he told us that they were closing up for the night. I told him that we had planned on coming for late night skate, and he told me that maybe I should check the website next time for the hours. I told him that the website said they were supposed to be open until midnight, that's why we drove all the way over. He then checked the website, saw that it said exactly what I had told him, then said; "Sorry but oh well, I don't know why that's up. We're still closing for the night." Would not go back simply because of this.

Wonderful, my 4 year old and 6 year old take ice skating lessons here and love it!

Here fir girls hockey which is becoming more popular. Facility for skating is great but also a place to have. a family meal after as well.

Awesome big place. Two rinks hockey size. Downside they don't asked what type of ice skates you'll like. They automatically give you a figure skate shoes.

Great place for having a child's birthday party. Beth Holst, the birthday coordinator, is extremely flexible and helpful. I don't think we've ever had someone as pleasant and easy to work with as her when setting up a birthday party.

Visited here recently. Very cool (pun intended) place! Nice place to hang out with the family and get your skate on.

For a old factory they are heading in the right direction. Need some remodeling

We are visiting from Burlington MA. I wish we had this facility up in the Boston area. The rink is awesome plus warm area to sit and watch your children skate. The availability of ice time is also incredible. I am really in awe of the place!

Very sweet people, honest, and the kids had a wonderful time during open skate time! Will definitely go again.

DO NOT go to Stick & Puck here. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!! They rent out an entire THIRD of the ice for private lessons while everyone else PAYS to play on the leftovers. It's a SCAM! Also, they won't allow nets in the neutral zone for the youth players. There are numerous other rinks you would rather spend your money.

STAY AWAY. Do NOT spend your money here.

They are doing a great job with protecting players with their covid protocols. I am so glad to be able to play again. Thank you to all the staff!

Alright experience, the staff is friendly enough, but on a crowded day this place is not the best. Still a fun spot to hang out at.

Great facility. Two sheets of ice w space in between w a concession stand and tables. Cold in the rink, makes sense but really cold. Standing room and elevated stands in the corners.

Want to practice your ice skating.... This is the perfect place

My 12 year old grandson plays for the Jr. Hurricanes. They play at this Polar Ice House often. A huge sport activity center located in a very big former factory. 2 full sized ice rinks are the main draw for us, but there is a lot more. Look up The Factory in Wake Forest. Also several restaurants within 10 minutes.

Nice to have a rink so close by. Definitely recommend.

The place looks old, needs some maintenance. Bathrooms are dirty, no soap in a broken dispenser. People worked there were not very helpful, not very friendly either, especially when they talked to kids.

Spectacular figure skating lessons for kids. The instructors take their time to help kids progress. Classes can be a bit cramp in the beginning, but thin out as levels increase. Students are also eligible to participate in seasonal performances.

This facility has potential, but the locker rooms are disgusting!!!

The location is easy to find. The ice hockey store is very good. I ordered my son's new ice hockey shoes and clubs, and the service is very good.

Decent facilities. The locker rooms need some TLC but not the worst rink I've played in.

Very busy for public skate on Saturday afternoon. Kids complained that ice was rough & kids kept falling. But with as many people on ice, to be expected.

Beth Holst, Guest Services Director, was very kind, helpful, and efficient. Because of her kindness, our visit was even more enjoyable :)
