Point Loma Seafood confuses me. I worked here briefly in 1982. Before that I worked for a company that wholesaled fish to them. I loved their fish sandwich, which back then was made with fresh local rock cod (aka Pacific red snapper). I was visiting San Diego for the first time in decades the other day and dropped into Point Loma Seafoods for a fish sandwich. They have a 20-foot-long case filled with fresh fish and seafood that nobody was buying. But they make their fish sandwich now with frozen Alaskan cod, which doesn't make sense to me when they have fresh, local fish sitting right there in their case. I ordered a fish sandwich anyway. It was as I remembered from 40 years ago, battered & fried fish and tartar sauce between two slices of sourdough bread. It was OK, but it was not as good as I remember it, with fish that tasted fresh. I can get frozen Alaskan cod in a sandwich or fish and chips anywhere. I expected something better from Point Loma Seafoods.

Came a little early to beat lunch rush so I didn t have to wait long. First time here and I had classic fish and chips on the mind but went with the lobster roll at the last minute! Ate it right away just outside with a beautiful view. I don t have a baseline for comparison, as this was my first lobster roll sandwich, but It was still tasty and filling with nice big chunks of sweet lobster. I would definitely come back to try some other menu items. I m really glad I don t have a shellfish allergy. Side note: Tartar sauce was dank.

We also drop by when we come out to the beaches. Our go to is the Smoked Fisf Sandwich. It is very simple and delicious, bread, tartar sauce, and smoked tuna. I like it with a little hot sauce.

Have been a fan of Pt Loma Seafoods for decades. We now live out of state but always make a trip for lunch when in town. This trip did not disappoint. Hot flaky fish, plentiful and delish with lots of fries & coleslaw.

Point loma Seafood is always a special place and treat ! The staff is so welcoming and personal! Exceptional service! Great variety of fresh seafood, and store products! Absolutely an A+! Sourdough bread is used for sandwiches, and I feel the best sourdough bread that I have ever had! Thank you! I can't wait for my next enjoyable visit!

Fresh sea food! I had a crab and shrimp salad sandwich on sourdough. Delicious. Parking is a mess. When groups of people finish ordering they don't move away from the counter. Just a heads up.
