Good service excellent atmosphere great food clean bathrooms

If you stay at the inn hotel, you need to taste the Plank's. It's good quality and also service. Need to wait some time before served, mainly during busy hours. If there is a wedding or special event i suggest to not coming in.

Prime Rib was very good..no fat.. Broccoli was a la dente. Kelsey the server very professional.. Great dinner.

Service from Kevin was great! Nothing came out together. Kids meals came out after adult meals. Food was not our favorite.Ribs were very fatty. Tuna Poke was not to our liking. Fish and chips were just ok. Black bean burger was good. We probably won't be back.

Food is decent, but overpriced. The wait for drinks is usually longer than it needs to be. For what it could be, I'm disappointed that Plank's doesn't live up to a higher standard (and price range). There are far better restaurants in town in this category with far better experiences.

Food and service were great. There could be more choices for lighter meals.

The halibut and kale salad were outstanding. So was the flourless chocolate cake. The atmosphere was wonderful and service was great!

I expected more but go average. My salad was great but did hav quite a bit yellow, welded leafs. Waitress came around too many times and asked about food when I even had not chance to taste it yet. View is nice and design is upper class but not the quality of the food ... That's only my opinion, I was there for lunch. And know that they close the kitchen for one hour between lunch and dinner. First time I could not experience this place because we showed up 5 min. After kitchen closed and we were not able to order lunch anymore so we left.

Planks has a great menu and awesome drinks including guest beer taps. The hotel is really nice!

The food was very good. The service folk were heavily uncoordinated and seemed to be overmatched on the table-server ratio. Beautiful location.

Great atmosphere, good service, excellent food with attention to presentation. The beer menu featured many local favorite brews. Appetizers were spot on, we sampled chicken wings that were large with a nice bourbon BBQ sauce, perfectly done calamari, and a huge pretzel with assorted sauces. No complaints on the main course either, everyone was pleased. Beautiful view, even in the depths of winter.

The food is excellent. The wait staff is attentive, but, does not hover.

This place was a little on the expensive side. The food was great! In the service was fast. We enjoyed sitting on the back balcony with a very beautiful view of the water. The Ambiance is fun and suits how classy the hotel is.

Has become a Friday tradition. They have some great sandwiches...I had the Angry Reuben. Heidi, our server, was top notch.

Excellent service, amazing brunch, and a fabulous atmosphere. The Deviled Avacado with butternut squash hash was the best brunch meal I have ever had.

They put chunks of FAT in the Rueban I ordered....I thought I was gonna toss my cookies....

We had a reservation for 7:15. When we arrived there was only 2 other tables that already had their food. We sat at the table for 13 minutes before our server finally came by with water. She sat down the waters without saying anything then walked away to help another table. She passed right by us again without saying a word and went into the back. 10 more minutes went by with no service, meanwhile the 2 hostess and bar tender where just sitting up front not doing anything yet no one came to our table. After waiting for well over 20 minutes with no service we had enough and walked to the hostess to complain as we left the restaurant. I can't rate based on the food since we never even got the opportunity to order. The service there is absolutely horrible!!

We celebrated our anniversary at the restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional.

Monica was our server, she was fun & informative...gave us great advice. The whitefish, crab cakes & the trout were awesome. also the Lemon drop martini was very good.

Great view off the back porch overlooking the Saint Joseph river. My dinner was good but my fellow diners were not as impressed with the food.

Excellent place for tasty food but definately pricey. We had breakfast twice and dinner once, will be coming back next time we visit.

The service and drinks are phenomenal, the bartender was just as beautiful as she was skilled and knowledgeable of here occupation.

We ate at the pool bar every other weekend this summer. Consistently had great service, food and drinks. There s not a better spot in St. Joseph. Cam the bartender is fast and makes great drinks

We dined at Plank's last night (Friday) with five other couples. The staff is friendly and helpful, the bar service was slow (only one bartender) Our wait person seemed to have both inside and outside table assignments and seemed a little stretched. The head chef patrolled the dining room frequently checking with diners and their well being. The food was outstanding, delicious and hot.
With the exception of the bar, Planks has plenty of staff working the restaurant. I think what would improve overall service, would be a dining room supervisor or director to keep folks coordinated and moving in the right direction at the right time.
We will definitely go back.

Food was great! Service, not so much. We weren't even waited on for 20 minutes and the waiter never even came and gave us refills. The Sunday buffet was $21.95 a person and had been picked through till almost bare when we looked at it. So I got the great Lakes cheese steak and it was awesome.

First time here, started out good with good cocktails , soup of the day and salad (waaaaay to expensive for an app $12 for a simple salad come on)... but then it went downhill the seared tuna was super bland and to charge the amount for this dish , i want to be able to taste , unfortunately the chef went a lil over board with the spicy level and the chili oil making the dish inedible. My partner s dish was the same ... although the chicken was delicious, the overall dish was too spicy, so we only ate the chicken

After i told the waiter the dish was too spicy he just took the plate without acknowledging... ...service was lacking

So anyways if you want better food at a better price go elsewhere in St Joseph , like the Silver Harbor or the buck, this place is not worth it.

Made a quick stop here on my way back through Michigan. Great atmosphere and excellent service. The food was delicious and relatively reasonably priced. The outside area (near the pool) had live music, with a very talented musician performing solo on guitar. Overall, it was a truly 5-Star experience. Will definitely come back if in the area.

Great location. Its a little pricey, but worth it. They have a pool bar next to the Freedom Boat Club of St. Joe. The staff is relaxed and informative. I recommend the nachos....

Food was horrible. View is a joke. The view from the deck and dining room is of the sand and gravel company that sits on the River. We had 7 entrees at our table 6 of them were not good. Food in the past was fair quality but last night it was terrible. We waited l hour and 15 minutes for our food. We ordered as soon as we sat down. Wine selection is only fair. Manager did remove entrees we could not eat. But would have preferred to pay and have a good meal. Went home and made sandwiches.

I love this place for the location itself. Both the indoor and outdoor ambiance are soothing. I recommend to have a breakfast or brunch at this place, since I did the same.I was sitting outside in the sun, right on the banks of the river, eating some great food. I tasted the salmon Avocado Toast and Lox with sourdough bread and I was very happy with my choice.

Excellent food. Try the Beef Cheesesteak and the bad a## pretzel. Excellent service as well.

Place has too much extra stuff on the plate to the point where the plating is just messy. The food is of good quality and its worth a visit, however.

We waited 35 minutes for our table while it sat empty. The explanation given was that there had been some "unexpected mishaps" at Sunday Brunch. Drinks (pop, iced tea, and kids' lemonade) did not arrive until halfway through eating buffet food and were inaccurate. Plates were not cleared to make room for dessert, even after we went up to the hostess stand to request that plates be cleared. We finished dessert with empty plates of Mac and cheese and meatloaf on our table. The donuts at dessert had a strange flavor that made them unpalatable according to four of our guests, yet they were a featured item with a chef creating custom donuts for guests. Tables were arranged so closely together that we and servers could not pass through. Overall, mediocre food, incredibly slow service, and a lack of professionalism. We were surprised by the quality of our meal (or lack thereof) for my dad's birthday brunch.

I ate at Plank's several times during the time I lived in SWMI. I never had a bad meal or bad service. On the contrary the food has always been wonderfully prepared and presented. It is on the pricey side, but worth every penny.

Great food, Great service! The outdoor seating was really warm for us even though the temp was like 30 degrees out. Nice view of the water from our seating area. My wife and I had a great time.

Food was good and service was great! Had the Planks Dirty Martini which was tasty, but definitely not a $12 martini...more like a $10 martini, at most. Overall, cozy atmosphere. Nice option for date night or even Valentine's!
