I don't know anything about this congregation other than they support UPMC Children's Hospital transplant patient camp. Specifically, they host the drop off and pickup for a few bus loads of campers and counselors. This year, they also hosted a brunch and presentation from CHP on the camp. This 'transplant camp' means a ton to the children and their families, this post is not doing justice, so I'd have a difficult time not giving 5 stars to anyone who supports it.

Wonderful congregation, especially for interfaith families! Since moving to Pittsburgh, my Catholic husband and I immediately felt at-home at Rodef Shalom. The rabbis are approachable and foster a socially-conscious community. Services are always enjoyable, and there are a wide variety of congregation events. The cantor is incredible, too! Membership options are quite flexible, and provide a range of benefits.

I hosted my wedding reception here and it was exceptional. Even though my wife and I are not Jewish we were able to rent the event space. The customer service was very friendly and responsive. They allowed using outside catering and/or providing your own bar. The price was very fair. The event space could accommodate a lot of people. Free parking is available which is awesome for Oakland. I would highly recommend it for a wedding or reception.

It was wonderful. Truly it is a different climate in there. We learned so much and it was just i spiring to see so many species from the Torah. Loved it. Also, very beautiful synagogue.

My elderly parents, - who love religious structures and architecture - were visiting from Michigan so I surprised them with a trip to Rodef. Everything was fine until a woman with glasses came barreling behind us and began shouting, "Move! Get out of my way." Horrified, my parents and I turned around to face her. "Get out of here," she said. Too shocked to even ask for an explanation, we began walking toward the door with this menacing middle-aged woman right behind us. I stole a single glance back at her and she looked like she was grimacing in pain, perhaps a knee or hip problem ailment because she limped, or kinda shuffled. As we opened the door, a man shouted from the back, "Christen , what is the hollering." Rather than make a stink, we opened the door to leave and then I smelled it. My mother and I look at each then looked at this woman who was ghost white. She turned very slowly to walk back toward the man and then we saw it. It explained the rush and the hurried escort to the exit. She had moved her bowels in her pants.

I nanny a child in the preschool there, and have attended some memorials. They have been amazingly welcoming and warm. They always have stickers in the gift shop for the children, and I never walked in without being given a genuinely joyful smile.

What a beautiful and peaceful place. I enjoyed my visit. All are welcome to come for study and fellowship. They have security which you have to respect. This is not to scare away their neighbors, but the opposite: to provide a safe and wonderful space on a noisy world.

Great
