Great place, great people and the best service! If your considering joining a boat club, check out Fun Boat Club. Family owned and much better than the big corporate boat clubs that have hundreds of members to keep track of and share boats with.

DO NOT STORE YOUR BOAT HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT IT!!!
They don t care, destroy the gelcoat of every boat they touch. Management and the owner aren t nice people. If I had seen the other reviews here I would never have stored my boat here. Ever. I took several photos of the boats they destroy with the lifts (see attached). Just look at the bottom of the transoms and you ll see. Ridiculous!!! So many other marinas out there that cost much less and actually care. Also, they write their own reviews. Whoever cliff cliff is, I ve been in that marina for over a year and never seen that boat other than the fact they sell boats and that s the rack they put their for sale boats on in his photo. Scammers X 1,000,000
I called this dealer for service on my new outboard many times. I was never able to schedule a visit for a minor service. I was told several times that someone would call me back to schedule a day for services, but they never did. Today I decided to personally go to the dealer, and possibly speak to one of the mechanics about a minor problem that I have on my new outboard DF-250. I was not allowed to speak to anybody in person, and I was told again, that someone would call me back. I will report this unacceptable behavior to corporate, Japan, Better Business Bureau in Florida, etc. Unbelievable!!!
Now this is a cool little place to rent boats. Must be a member or know a member. Fast, friendly people that can answer any questions. Few minutes and you are on your way.
Do not listen to people who say they can only get a boat once a month. We have been with them for over a year and have only no been able to get a boat once, literally once!!!
NOT SAFE!!! NO VHF RADIOS ON ANY OF THEIR BOATS!!! Expired flares!!! Staff is nice, but the owner is cheap and won't install the VHF radios required for safety in the boats or replace the long expired safety flares. For your family's sake, consider a safer and better equipped boat club.
I store my boat here for high and dry. They have been nothing but absolutely awesome. All of the crew is polite courteous and respectful. They always try to help me out. By the way this is not a fake review. I've had my boat there for about 3 or 4 months and I'm a happy customer.
Lots of fake 5-star reviews from paid shills, but the real deal is Pirates Cover is a ripoff. If you want to rent a polluting, noisy machine that kills dolphins and manatees and isn't safe for you either, Pirates Cove is your place.
From my experience with this marina I can only give the one star,I find them very unfriendly and not helpful. I got stuck in mud 100 feet away and they refused to tow me in,in fact I was asked to leave the premises because I asked one boater to if he can pull me out to the open water.
Boat club is awesome. Sue and Bobby are friendly and the boats are great. We have enjoyed the club for a few years now. I d recommend this club to anyone who loves the Gulf of Mexico.
We love Pirates Cove! Sue is great and a pleasure to speak with. We have been a member of Fun Boat Club for over a year now and throughly enjoy our time on the gulf, but the service we receive from the staff is truly what keeps us members, that along with always being able to get a boat whenever we want. Highly reccomend Fun Boat club to any family, couple or individual looking for a family owned genuine club, with wholesome service. Unlike the other corporate boatclubs that your just another number too
I almost died on one of their death traps they call boat don t join the boat club. Unless you don t care about your life I was one of the two that sank at the Dunedin reef you may or may not have seen it on the news. There was no vhf radio to call for help the flares were expired. Thank god we had cell phone reception to call for help or I wouldn t be here writing this.
The bad reviews are true. Had we known about Lyin' Bobby (as they all call him) and his scams, lack of friendly personality, we would never have brought our boat to them. I never write reviews, however this place pushed me way past my limit. Some of the dock staff is nice, management (owner) is horrendous. They don't care about their customers and will make you feel like you owe them something every time you walk in that disastrous building. Susan up front next to Bobby's office is no better, don't let that fake personality fool you, the truth comes out eventually.
There are MANY nicer marina's out there and i'm sure glad we're finally out of that place!!!
I am not sure how my review was changed, but it needs to be accurate. This boat club misrepresented the availability of the boats, and when I found that you'd be lucky to get a boat out once a month, I called straight away to cancel the membership. I talked with them less than 24 hours after signing the paperwork. I was not given access to the scheduling system until AFTER they had my $2500. I was told there was absolutely no way i was getting my money back. When I threatened a lawsuit, they said they'd store the boat I was going to purchase and apply the $2500 to storage fees. I agreed to avoid dealing with court (the marina is also very close to my house.) Since having my boat stored there, the only communication I've received from them is asking that I take down the negative review. I of course refused, as it wouldnt be fair not to warn people about this place. My boat needs servicing and has magically had "7 people in front of it" for MONTHS. Beware!
We have stored our boat at Pirates Cover for about 6 weeks and have been extremely happy with the service. All the guys are great and very accommodating and even at short notice. Highly recommended.
When I moved to FL from Michigan, in January of 2017 my plan was to trailer my boat. A time or two at the boat ramps with all the insanity caused me to look into a Marina. I found Pirates Cove, and I could not be happier. It's a 5 star experience. I probably have the least expensive boat there, but I'm treated with the utmost respect. The staff is great and very accommodating. My boat is always ready in the water when I call for it. When we return to the Marina, there are usually two guys standing there waiting to help. We are using the boat much more that we would have otherwise, and my wife ( who is very cheap) loves it.
I was excited and happy to sign up for the "Fun" Boat Club at Pirates Cove Marina and did so in April of this year. I had originally shared my positive experiences with it to all of my friends, family and co-workers. However my experience turned pretty negative when I was notified by my work that I was being transferred out of state to Texas. I had to call 3 times to try canceling my membership. You pay a $1,500 fee just to sign up and it was bad enough I was only getting 6 months out of that. It ended up costing me more than $400 per month to take an 18 ft. boat out twice (at the most) a month. Honestly you'll get about 1 - 2 shots for a weekend day a month. Bobby Smith promises you of BBQ's, get togethers for members, etc. I was a member for six months and there never has been one that I was made aware of. According to Bobby Smith he would like me to keep making monthly payments when I'm not even living in the state.... I typically don't write reviews but felt compelled to after this experience. DO NOT sign up for the boat club. You've been warned.
I bought a used boat from Bobby and in the transaction I paid good money for LED lights, a ski Tow Bar, and fresh water tank/shower installation. I took the boat out after I bought it and tried to pull a kid up on a wakeboard and POW!!!!! The ski tow at the attachment shattered the transom fiberglass and was all bent up and mangled. When I sent a message and attempted to call, he would not reply or answer. I sent pictures of the damage to his mechanic who was surprised at the damage and stated Bobby would not stand behind the faulty system/installation and would only repair the fiberglass damage and ski tow replacement at MY COST!!!!! Are you kidding me, you just installed it man..... Total surprise to me that he would do this.... wow.... stay away from this place. Don't get shafted like that.
