I have never had a child here but I have done business with the staff so take my review from that perspective. In dealing with the staff I found them to be very caring people with good communication. In learning more about the mission of the home I could tell these people care. In walking around the campus grounds I found the buildings to be well kept with lots of activity going on. It's a tough situation I must imagine, all I can say is you can tell the staff cares and the facility is well managed. In my own life I have had young family members in crisis and I can tell you it is worth every chance you can give them and places like this might be able to help. It is 100% better than the streets, an abusive home or Juvenile Detention.
I loved my job here at times. I wish I had more time to implement activities for the clients. It would ve resulted in less disciplinary actions, and much better behavior. I never took what the clients would say to me to heart because I know being confined to a building all day must be tough. Things could ve been better, but you live and you learn.
I would not recommend sending children 11-14 here it will ruin their mental stability instead of trying to fix it. I know from personal experience. Not sure if this place has changed within the last 6 years but if not I would definitely not recommend this place for anyone other than extremely misbehaved children as a last resort before DJJ.
