I really needed someone to listen to my concerns and questions, as I am a full-time caregiver for my elderly and disabled mom. My first call was a success as I was greeted with a warm welcome, and I was given a folder and booklet with local resources when I attended my first meetup.
This was great and I afterward chose to further attend their caregiver support meetups. Honestly at times, the caregiver support group meetups left me feeling uncomfortable. You get people of all backgrounds and circumstances at these meetings. I was extremely nervous speaking to a group of strangers but my anxiety went through the roof when some people became very emotional or even overly assertive. I am very hesitant to return to those meetings for that reason.
On a different note, I have had issues with communication with their staff. Such as, being told they would contact me only to miss their phone call and having to call back to and leave a message. No one has called me back. I think this place has good intentions and has been helpful for people but my experience has left me thinking that it not always roses and rainbows.
The folks that work with this organization are friendly and helpful. They have plenty of information to help seniors find services available to make their lives better and easier.
Oro Valley Senior Center....closes early, food not fit for human consumption, and don't complain or you're kicked out....I dare anyone to see for yourself. How about getting a picture of prison food next to Oro Valley Senior Center's...and posting it. Many won't complain for fear of being kicked out.
But they're "under budget!"
Great people who always help with things I need for my senior neighbor
Great place to get help and receive help. Notary. Wills, and many other situations.
Called for info for my neighbor. They were very helpful.
Excellent service, you do so much for the community!
You are one stop Clearing House for any information regarding older adults in Pima County. If you need to find out anything concerning elderly, come here first! If the information cannot be found here, it probably doesn't exist. Also provides services through contractors such as housekeeping, Elder Care, Etc. Highly recommended
this lovely staff works hard to supply all seniors with assistance for all their situations
Was looking for a lawyer for seniors. They provided a list of names to select from: Jodi Bernstein was fantastic! Thanks PCOA.
I am so grateful to these folks who are so kind and helpful
Very helpful and knowledgeable. Professional organization. Excellent.
When you have problems trying to help a parent with the start of dementia and you don't know where to go
This is a wonderful non profit. I have worked for so many non profits and PCOA is one of the best. The service offered to our aging population is much needed. And the overall advocacy is top notch and person centered. I think one of the best things about PCOA is that they employ a number of older adults who offer a wealth of experience and perspective that cannot be gained any other way but by living life.
Hermes and Jenn helped me so much yesterday! I'm able to have a space of my own due to their timely help. Their actions, and Pima Council on Aging, added years to my life. <3
Great organization. Doing all they can to help the elderly in Tucson.
I have referred so many people to PCOA, so thought I would see if they could help me find new medical insurance for 2019. I am so disappointed with them. I explained the situation and all they seemed willing to do was send me information off the internet, same info I already looked at. No one really seemed to want to look at it. Just wanted off the phone. Just sad.
Knowledgeable caring people dispensing very good advice on Healthcare options for seniors, free seminars and good advice on miscellaneous services other than Healthcare!
A wonderful place for seniors to get information and services.
Terrible place that doesn't want to serve elderly who actually need help and don't want to sign for the people who don't show up. Total defraud of the government! They send "caregivers" who spend 1 hour working instead of 2-3 and get paid for all; or sit, do nothing, complain about their own health, family, etc... and then leave. Elderly who are not happy with such "service" are getting cut-off - "Oh, we don't have anyone to send you. We have limited resources. You have to wait (forever, or just accept our services the way we have them right now)."
I absolutely believe this place should be thoroughly investigated for elderly abuse and government fraud.
The workers are kind and very helpful Makin sure the do the job well.
I'm very pleased with the volunteers one of whom helped advocate for my dad when he was in a care home. He wanted to return home to live and this advocate encouraged him to do so.
Dad was able to spend the final two years of his life at home due to this advocate.
Thanks so much PCOA
