Pig & Whistle Rotorua Review

We came down to Rotorua after Level 4 Lockdown as we'd never been, we were actually booked for elsewhere but a muck up occurred with them so we wandered around and stumbled upon Pig & Whistle, it was the best meal we had the whole holiday. The portions were amazing, food was amazing, service was fantastic, had the rugby on one screen & cricket on another. Can't recommend it enough, classic good NZ pub food, great prices, drinks were cheap also. Loved it.

Food wasn't bad - but not amazing. Overall Atmosphere outside is super sweet and romantic though! Maybe just a bad day when we came re food?

Service however was shocking... the teenagers/young servers they have hired are rude and just stand in the corner talking and laughing and ignoring customers.

Awesome food. Great service and a cosy pub feel to relax in. This was really good value for money but no compromise in quality and taste. Well done crew.

Loved it here!!! Nice place, staff were awesome and the food was amazing! We had Lamb shank, spare ribs, chicken burger, curly fries and Brisket loaded fries! Everything was yum and the portions were big! So worth it! Definitely coming back here on our next visit!

A proper pub feed ! Hearty and well priced , good portions . Lovely staff and cosy atmosphere.

Probably the best pub in town. Atmosphere is always good, no matter if it's busy or quieter. The drinks are rather expensive, but you now get the option to order and pay for drinks using the QR code on your table - which is super convenient and saves you having to line up at the bar. The menu is varied and caters to most tastes, meals are delicious and portions are pretty generous.

We ordered the loaded fries w/beef brisket but with curly fries instead of the straight cut.

OMG what a meal! Photo doesn't do it justice as we'd already seriously attacked it prior to taking the photo.

Fries, gravy, cheese, mushrooms & amazingly tender brisket makes for one of the best meals that I've had in a long time.

Was a struggle for the two of us to eat it. Seriously recommended.

BTW, the default straight cut fries are majorly chunky so would also be great in this dish.We just had a particular yen for the curly fries.

Service was fast, friendly & attentive, excellent staff but clearly working their butts off.

This is one of the hidden gems of Rotorua... A must visit for any traveller passing through.
