The management at Phoebe Terrace Independent Living Facility are all wonderful. They are like family and extremely responsive to every need. My brother recently moved in and the apartments are modern and kept clean. He enjoys living there, the food, the people and is comfortably happy.

My dad is currently living there. Very clean faculty they have fish tank Birds and cats as pets for the residence. Staffs are friendly. When you first walk in for a visit have to take your temperature sign in due to covid-19. They have a indoor store. Looks like you can buy small grocery. a gym a church. Dining room area. TV Lounge area. Overall this is the best retirement/ nursing home in Allentown Pennsylvania. Anyone living in Pennsylvania I will recommend this retirement home for your parent or grandparent.

I worked at Phoebe Allentown for 10+ years as a CNA. I just left in 2021. I should start by saying that Phoebe Allentown used to be a decent place to work and a good home/Rehab facility for residents when comparing to other nursing homes in the area. A few years ago I would have recommended Phoebe to anyone for the care of their loved ones, but unfortunately I can no longer say the same. In the past few years Phoebe has gone downhill in terms of working conditions for employees. This is obviously reflected in the quality of care that residents receive. These problems started long before COVID 19 hit the facility. Now with COVID everything is worst for both employees and residents. This facility is currently understaffed which put our certifications or licenses on the line and the residents in danger and at risk for being neglected. Residents are not being cared for the way they should be, because there is not enough staff, and the staff that they actually have left just don t care anymore. The staff is overworked and overwhelmed. The CNA s are given heavy assignments and Nurses heavy med passes. For example, on a 7am-3pm and 3-11pm shift (the busiest shifts) they most of the days have only 2-3 CNA s for 35+ residents. And they expect us to do everything like feeds, showers, incontinent care, get ups, put them in bed, weights, vital signs, call bells, ext. For the nurses they now usually have only 1 nurse for an entire floor which can be 35+ residents to give meds, treatments, handle all the desk paperwork, orders, ext. Plus do all the charting. Physically speaking this is humanly impossible. A lot of things are not being done. Employees do the minimum to get by. CNA s focuses on getting residents to eat and clean in bed. There is really no time for anything else. (But you still have to chart in the computer that things were done). Nurses pretty much do the med pass and paperwork and skip the rest. This is an awful situation for good employees that cares and the poor residents not getting the care they deserve and pay for. In the Rehab section they try to staff the floors a little better but it s also challenging because of the short staffing issues. Phoebe seriously needs to fix the staffing issues in order to be a good facility again.
