Avoid this place at all cost. My aunt was put there without her familys consent. PA state elder bill of writes grants residents the right to leave and return to the facility any time they wish. My aunt is being denied that right. We were told if we take her out to dinner or for any reason what so ever the staff will call the police and have us (nephew and brother) arrested. I have asked to take her out on 2 different occasions and was told no both times. The threat to call the police was also reiterated. I made and attempt to make an appt to speak with Starr High the top administrator. Instead of seeing me to address my concerns... she drafted a letter banning me from the facility and from visiting my 91 r old aunt. My aunt has only 2 living family member... her brother and me, her nephew. My aunt does NOT want to spend the rest of her life at Phoebe. I was told one of the reasons they do not want my Aunt leaving with us is because they are afraid we won't bring her back. My father (her brother) is 94 yrs old. He has stage 4 prostate cancer and has been under my care for 2 years after an 8 month hospital stay. While under my care his health has improved and he gained over 20 pounds. My aunt is welcome to live out her life at my home with me and her brother. A much better alternative to life at Phoebe which consists of living in what is basically a hotel room 24/7 only leaving the room to go down the hall to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While we are on the topic of food... the quality of the food that was offered at this expensive facility was subpar at best. Lest time I saw her eat she had some chicken soon along with her tuna sandwich. The broth in the soup was clear like water. Soup nd half a tuna fish sandwich... that was her dinner.

I currently work there as an LPN flex but for the past 3 months I've worked full time hours and to be honest it is a nice place to work. I would say if you're a very self motivating and a team player its a wonderful place to be. They usually hire people with at least 18 months experience in the field that you'll be applying for. The staff is very professional and very tactful to family and patient needs. If you're interested on getting a job there just apply online on they're website.

Phoebe Village has everything one could ask for, and more.
We love our Cottage on North Penn Drive and everyone has been so welcoming and friendly toward us. The activities are numerous and varied. The food is excellent in both the Cafe and Dining Room.
Everything is first rate.

I have heard some things about the kitchen staff and immediately told my grandmother to stop eating the food here. They are extremely unsanitary and I am in the process of moving her out immediately. If I were you I wouldn t trust the hands preparing the food or the area that the food is being prepared in. They clearly don t seem to care about food safety or a clean work environment at all!

In January 2018, my 90-year-old father went into the Reading Hospital and we anticipated that he would go directly to Phoebe to live out his days there, so we reserved a room. He died I the hospital and the caring folks there said it would be unlikely that we would be charged for reserving the room. I was confident that this caring, church-supported organization would follow through on that. WRONG. Two months later I received a bill for $522. To their credit (which happened a few days later and after this review) they informed me that we would not have to pay.

After reading Joseph Pastore s review and seeing as this man was recently arrested and sent to federal prison on drug trafficking and gun charges, it seems his concern was for money, not the safety and best interests of his Aunt. I personally have heard nothing but positive things from people at Phoebe Berks.

I have experienced nothing but positive interactions with all of the staff and residents at Phoebe Berks, and I've heard firsthand from the people who reside there what an exceptional place it is to live.

Overpriced and the food is not good, there are a handful of things that need to be repaired. I ve talked to a handful of the residents that live here and you get mixed reviews, some love it, some hate it. The employees are somewhat on the crankier side, I ran into a few that will say hello.

The interview I had was not good Jennifer the person I saw she wasn't professional at all when we should of used her computer but she kept on using my phone to fill out the application. I will never go there again. This don't even deserve a star.

My visit was awesome but some of the maintenance staff are not polite. I was walking to a elevator and two of the maintenance staff wouldn't wait for me and let the door close right in front of me.

I work for Comforting Home Care at Phoebe Berks. I love working here. I feel it was and still is the safest place to live during this terrible time. I've told many people that live there that I wish I could live there too. It's where I felt was the safest place to be.
