Phits are at once the finishing point and the starting point of a search for the most efficient way of durably helping people in developing their potential. RS scan and Materialise, the companies behind the RS Print joint venture, are worldwide respected references in their field of expertise. The story starts with the search of RS scan for a way of improving the insoles they developed: ease of use, translating accurate analysis data into the design, automation of the design and production processes, all of these needed to fit into one integrated solution. Experiments with regular 3D printers were unsuccessful: too slow, not durable and not accurate enough. Meeting with Materialise provided the solution. Using the state of the art production methods developed by Materialise, so-called Mass Customization is possible: producing completely personalized objects on a large scale became possible using Selective Laser Sintering.
