I went in for what I thought was a kidney infection. It was a kidney infection. I am in severe pain, anyone who has experienced a kidney infection would understand. I was treated well at first, but once they found out it was a kidney infection the doctor came in, spoke to me for 15 seconds. Wrote me a prescription for an antibiotic. Up until now all is okay, I ask the nurse may I ask the doctor for something for pain, I am extremely uncomfortable.
She tells me to keep taking the Azo's, and says the antibiotics will help in a few days. She then says well I will get him if you want, making me feel very uncomfortable as if I am begging for drugs. A few days is an eternity when you are in pain.
I have a kidney infection!! My blood pressure is so high, she has me do breathing exercises before taking it. She says she wants a "pretty" blood pressure. I felt embarrassed for even asking, and here I sit at home, in pain, my primary care doctor can't see me for 4 days. That is the ONLY reason I went to the ER. So I can either suffer or actually go to an ER that cares for their patients.
What a horrible place. Everyone seems so nice but what good is it, if you leave there in pain and feel just as bad as you did when you got there.
Go to Fredricksburg if you can, I have heard they are a lot better.
UPDATE:
I saw my doctor on Monday. He was livid that they did not do a CT scan or even touch my back where my kidneys are, it is hot to the touch and swollen. I could have died over the weekend, literally. Yes it ruined my Easter but it could have ended my life. If you don't have really good insurance don't go there! I have insurance but it isn't good. I can't think of any other reason they would not have followed standard procedures.
I have called 4 times to file a complaint. The hospital will not call back. I am now going to start calling and filing with the big guns.
This is a retirement community, many people have Medicare here. I guess if you can't afford good insurance they would rather you just die off.
EDIT: One last word. The antibiotic I was given at Peterson's caused the skin to peel off my face! I STILL have a kidney infection, which I found out after be rushed to Fredricksburg last night.
Thank goodness for that hospital! Fredrricksburg probably saved my life. No one one was sugary sweet as they were at Peterson's but they were kind, professional and did there job! I am already feeling better, was given the medications I needed and sent on my way.
When I first moved to Kerrville, my father, a long time resident, said "I wouldn't take my pet to Peterson's, I understand why now. Unless you are going to bleed out before you get to the hospital go the extra 20 miles to Fredricksburg.
