I love this place because of their ice cream instead of burgers. However, I have to give 4 stars because of they hired an annoying guard in their parking lot. I just parked and a guy came and asked where I gonna go and if I was going to purchase at Peter's. I felt the questions were not very friendly and I don't like being asked like a suspect. Hope they are more generous on their parking spots in the future.

Peter's is a classic joint that everyone knows about and that's cool, but their food is kind of pricey and isn't all it's cracked up to be. My most recent experience here (and probably the worst) was a week ago. The cashier who served me was a little standoffish and had this just-done-with-y'all demeanor. The burger that I got was Double Cheese and I thought that meant that the sandwich would have two patties and cheese, of course, right? And I wasn't wrong! But. BUT! My friend who got the normal cheese burger also got TWO patties and according to him he's always gotten the same order and he's always gotten two patties for ALL the times he's been there. I don't know if it's just all an elaborate plan to rack in extra dollars without the customers knowing or complaining because I would have my double cheeseburger and my friend would have an "extra" patty in his supposed SINGLE cheeseburger. He even got toppings (oh yeah, you pay for topping btw) but I still paid more than he did and I didn't get any toppings!!! *sighs* Honestly....

It took me a few years to realize that Peters Drive-In is actually mediocre at best food and that the main draw is sheer tradition and consistency. Add to that enormous portions and decent shakes, it makes up for the mediocre burgers. You ll never walk away hungry from Peters but I always leave wanting a burger that doesn t make me hate myself.

Milkshakes 10/10

Great place to grab a bite with friends if you have the time (best milkshakes around town)

I'm only reviewing the drive thru. Having openings where the cars are is dangerous. People jump in front of moving vehicles. Some person walked into my car while I was waiting please consider removing these openings. Have them go around the drive thru road.
In my 20 minute wait I saw 5 different groups almost get hit by different cars

If you are from Calgary you already know what this is. But if you aren't from Calgary you should drop by and try one of the classic locations from Calgary, Peter's drive in is as a great as the Calgary Stampede. The milkshakes here are amazing and you can make a million different type of combinations. The onion rings are my favorite and are probably the best I ever had. The burger and fries and also great. And the price of everything is very cheap.

I have purchased food at Peter's since 1974 or so. Have not been going as often lately. Under the new ownership, I like the somewhat recent addition of optional burger toppings (tomato, lettuce). However, what has happened to the fries in the past few months? The fries are not near as good as a few years ago. I plan to ask for a taste next time since I do not want to experience the poor quality ones again. Twice is enough.

Delightful historic drive-in joint beloved by thousands of Calgarians. The milkshakes are what a lot come for, flavours are great and plentiful! Food is nothing special, but is reasonably good enough. Service is a little spotty, compounded by customers who are not prepared to order yet, while still remaining in line. The kitchen works hard to keep up and is mostly successful.

Love these classic old school drive thru burger places. Yes, I'm old but you can't beat a real food from the past.
This was my first experience here in Calgary as I'm from Toronto. My girlfriend here in Calgary so enjoy the spenders of our youth and sharing how we grow up with her kids.
Highly recommend this place for anyone who truly enjoys classic Canadian food.

Best milkshakes in town. Iconic Calgary restaurant that pokes fun at itself (they now take debit!). Lines can be huge in the summer but they crush through it pretty good.

Onion rings are fantastic. Other food is ok but not great

So, I've seen that some people were "disgusted" by the portion sizes when they went. It just shows how they didn't know the tips about going to Peters'.

Tips:
1. A small fry is good for two people as a side, it's about the size of 1.5 MacDonalds large fry containers

2. The large fry is a large bag of fries. Order this for a group of 4 or more.

3. Don't complain when you order a single burger and you get two patties "by accident". You always get two patties in a single, so hint hint: don't order the double burgers

4. Try the milkshakes if you like milkshakes

Now that you know how to order at Peters', no more one star reviews because your wittle itty bitty tummy can't finish one more patty.

It is a place where a lot of people line up to eat every time.
The menu is simple, so it is easy to order.
There are many flavors of shake, but the shake is good

It's a cherished Calgary burger joint, but I think it deserves a little truth. It's over priced and the food is mediocre. The shakes are great but the burgers are thin and the meat is honestly slimy. Hot dogs are reasonably priced but nothing special. Unless you're there for the nostalgia or a local takes you there to try and share their nostalgia you can probably save yourself the 20 minutes the drive through takes.

Honestly, this place is quite historical, but since it was sold it is not quite the same. The burgers are different. They are not as big and the fries are very bland.
The location is convenient and now it does allow for Tap, credit and debit pay.
The milkshakes are still good though.

We got our order wrong because of a miscommunication. We asked for no sauces, they heard is as no sauce and just left out their Peter's sauce instead of everything. When i went back and explained to them what happened they replaced the burger extremely quickly for me.

Didn't like anything about the food. My burger was super sloppy. Onion rings were over cooked and the milkshake was nothing natural. Artificial flavours. Won't go back. There's a lot better in town. This spot makes me wonder where's the beef.
