We love flying out of PDX. The airport is clean, everything is decently priced and staff are very friendly and accommodating. We are often motivated to show up early to our flight because we want to spend time in the airport!

If I could choose zero stars, I would. WORST AIRPORT EVER!!! Please do not EVER, & I mean EVER, book an evening flight into Portland w/ a morning departure. You're virtually trapped as a prisoner. This place basically becomes a ghost town after 9-9:30. There will be NO PLACE for you to get food, drinks, or anything else you might need. Do yourselves a favor & avoid this place at all costs!!! I especially wouldn't bring small children. U can't even use the kiosks to print your boarding passes, etc., unless the ticket counter is open. Why bother spending thousands of dollars to upgrade into the 21st century if you're not going to allow customers to use/access these features. This place is truly horrible, a traveler's worst nightmare!!!

Definitely one of the nicer airports in the U.S. - simpler layout than other airports as well which is nice and easy to find your way when it's your first time here. Car rentals are connected downstairs which is great. Looks nice and has some nice restaurants in here. Also, pretty dang clean! If you're looking to do some last minute shopping (like souveniers and clothing) - you can do that too. There's also a spa and a barber shop once you get by TSA.

Walked off my flight. Walked by a uniformed officer and he tapped my backpack which made his k9 stand up and smell. He asked me to lower it so he could smell better then set me aside saying it was alerted for NARCOTICS. Then a plain clothes man flashing a badge which I barely saw put me aside in front of everyone. Questioned me went through my stuff the whole 9 and nothing. Even googled my story to verify, extremely unprofessional. The bag which alerted the K9 had just been purchased at the North Carolina airport with a neck brace. I immediately knew it was a case of profiling and harassment. Then I had my fanny pack with cash, Identification, and debit card. He put my cash on display for people to view and put me in harms way of a potential robbery. He put my life in danger. I had 2000 usd 1/5 of the legal amount able to be carried on person/ per passenger. Now the story switched to this being an ongoing MONEY LAUNDERING investigation. Please why would I launder 2000usd I can deposit that amount through an atm into my checking it s considered petty cash by definition.
Long story short don t go there period. Anyone looking for a place to go and enjoy themselves go to Seattle. Portland detectives will harass you for no reason. A lot of mental development and cultural development left to make on their behalves. Even took pictures of my personal information and belongings in front of everyone disgustingly unprofessional.

I came here with a friend of mine to drop off her mom. This airport is amazing. Feels more like a mall than an actual airport. It can get packed during your time to check in for boarding. The parking isn't free. It was a good experience for being my first time coming here.

I love this airport! I'm thrilled it's my home airport, now. Sure, I miss living by the ocean in Monterey, but San Jose Airport has nothing on PDX. It's so open, clean, and efficient. Security is even almost-friendly.

Lots of good coffee, even cold bottles of good beer after security! Breakfast brew make a flight go smoother, my husband swears. I find that a bloody mary is my morning flying companion of choice, myself. I'd suggest that you get yours at Beaches, located just before security, Yum.

Nice airport, well laid out with plenty of signage to help you move from place to place. Plenty of dining options as well as souvenir places to get something to bring home to remind you of your travels. The people working there are polite and helpful andd they smile a lot. Prices on the food are indeed cheaper than most other airports which was a pleasant surprise.

Kind and helpful staff. Upon landing, if you re looking for the city train, it s available, immediately outside the airport. The airport is easy to get to. TSA checkpoint was fairly quick. One terminal is the hub of the whole airpot. There was soft Christmas music as you exit the checkpoint. It s pretty easy to know where you are headed from there s an if not, there are plenty of people who can help. Very clean too.

Great food and shopping options with the same prices as outside the airport. Cheap parking compared to other airports. Best parking guide system ever. Sometimes, we go when we don't have to fly.
Security is usually pretty smooth.

There is a reason it is a top rated airport. Very good experience. Although did come in late at night and most things closed. It is close to the city center. Lots of things to do in airport. Even seemed to be a movie theater. Easy to navigate.

Parking has become an issue. Long term is always full by Tuesday morning forcing you into more expensive option or riding a bus to economy- not efficient if you are a business traveler.
I also don t understand how Portland airport does not have clear tsa in place- this is a major delta airport- get with the times .

Best airport in the country! I love landing and coming into that emerald green carpet. It is the easiest airport to navigate and one of the only remaining places you can get Coffee People!

It had lots of great restraints, it was easy to navigate, and security was really easy to get through. We got free voodoo donuts but I have a feeling that was a one time thing. The architecture was really something to look at. The airport was huge and easy to navigate. Had a great experience.

The airport is almost like a mall now with lots of shopping and food before you enter security. Not sure if this is good or bad; airports are busy anyway without mall traffic; however, it is also great if someone drops you off and you want to have lunch/dinner before you get on the plane. Prices are reasonable and there is a large selection of eateries to choose from.

PDX is a busy airport that still manages to feel small. In ways, this is good, but limiting in other ways. With increased tourism in Portland the time to get through security is growing. I've found the worst time is early morning. TSA agents in general, however, are friendly enough here and lines move steadily. Free wifi is appreciated. Bathrooms are clean.

The biggest drawback to PDX in my view is the lack of dining options. Since we don't go to airports to eat, however, I guess I won't hold that against it too much. The second negative is the absence of temporary parking. Sometimes you need a bit more time than a simple "drop at the curb" but short-term parking is not needed either. Quite a few airports have lots where you can park for 15 min or less without a fee.

I have been to alot of different international airports over the years, and PDX is by far one of the best! Everything from the second you walk through the airport doors is easy to find and access, and ALL lines move quickly and efficiently. Many different eateries and shops to choose from, so if you forgot something, or you want to grab a bite before boarding, no worries, you will actually have time to do it! Thank you Portland International Airport for making our flight days easier!

The time passing by the Portland international airport was really good. There are a lot of things to see, you can stop and buy something you forget to buy before. It's really clean. Safe and the service was nice. I loved Portland.

In A Nutshell:

In A Nutshell:

-Did you know that PDX has been voted "America's Best Airport" 5 YEARS IN A ROW?!
-Yes, that's a fact I found out while flying in/out of there recently.
-For a mid-sized airport it actually does have a nice layout.
-Big interior w/ plenty of space.
-Really beautiful exterior using plant foliage (see photo below) covering the parking garage.
-Tons & tons of restaurants BEFORE security and AFTER security.
-What I really LOVE about PDX is that it's one of a handful of airports that offer some great perks for Priority Pass members.
-They offer the "Alaska Lounge" (which is tiny & they had a sign up not letting PP members in).
-There's also 3 other spots to hang out to use your $28 credit (2 restaurants and whiskey distillery).

Overall, this is a very nice airport & it definitely sets a high-standard of which all American airports should strive for!

This airport consistently is rated a top airport in the country. It's small, but makes sense with their space. The restaurants and shops are not your "every airport ever place." Lots of local flair, which is great at showing what Portland is all about.

This airport has been voted the best airport in the US multiple times and I see why. The terminals and concourses are wide and open and let plenty of natural light in making it a very comfortable environment. It's clean, the employees are friendly there's usually great live music being played.

Best airport in North America hands down. I've been to a lot and no one comes close to being this nice. TSA even treats you like a human. Plus if you have a problem the PDX team responds right away on twitter to try to solve it. Yet to find an airport that responsive. Not to mention all the prices are very reasonable. Plenty of seating, plenty of restrooms, easy access, easy transportation, inexpensive parking, baggage comes quick. This should be a model airport everywhere else uses as an example.

Friendly and fairly efficient TSA staff. Much more human than other airports (like Seattle or SFO), decent food offerings and easy parking. Also, MAX line is right at the airport so transfer to mass transit is simple. It s an easy airport to deal with.

CHARLES IS AMAZING! I arrived from Arizona, a state with little public transportation, an associate Charles noticed I looked confused and helped me navigate to where I needed to be. Thankyou Charles!

About as good as an airport can get here in the States. Lots of dining, alcohol and shopping options. Relatively nice TSA agents, lots of parking, easy to navigate. It's definitely the highlight of traveling to/from Portland.

I arrive in the D Terminal at 4 PM on a Tuesday and walk to A Terminal. I thought to myself this is a beautiful airport, but it seems mostly empty. That was until I reached A Terminal. A Terminal was packed, no seating, people and trash everywhere. The A Terminal is the old section of the airport and why the outgoing flights are not spread out throughout the entire A-D Terminals is a mystery. The Portland Airport managers need to get their act together!

I come here all the time. Sometime in the last wee...

I come here all the time. Sometime in the last week, they implemented new rules for drop offs in the form of cartoonishly strict time limits. I had only just pulled up and texted the person I was picking up when a traffic director approached me, telling me I had to loop around now or she was going to write me a ticket for "waiting". Baffled, I asked if I could text my exhausted pick up, currently walking toward my car, and let them know what was happening. She said no, if you do that I will write you a ticket. I had been at the curb for under 30 seconds. Seriously!?

Disappointing to see an airport that formerly was so smooth and easy make itself unnecessarily difficult for customers. Yes, being stuck in the pick up line during busy times can be kind of annoying... we have all been there. But not even being allowed to text someone to let them know you have arrived is way worse! I suppose they have a monopoly and thus can get away with treating customers badly, but I hope they reconsider. Enforcing a time limit is fine, but these new rules are unreasonable and massively inconvenient. There has to be a happy medium between letting people sit there 30 minutes and block traffic and hassling customers for taking 30 seconds to send an "I'm here" text.

Edit as of June: Not only is the above still true, but traffic at arrivals is now significantly worse than it ever was before the new policy. Possibly because of all the customers being sent around the block over and over? Hope you enjoy having to wait in that line twice!

5 years ago I gave pdx 5 stars. I wrote: I love the airport. Short distances. Security is well organized. The airport just works. The size allowed quick access and it's curb policies we're reasonable.

I decided to downgrade it all after the installation of space heaters where ride shares pick up. Space heaters! An entire bank. 9 feet above your head. Heating the air. Completely out of step in a time of global warming. Travellers coming to the Northwest bring a jacket. Let's get rid of those space heaters.

Very nice airport. One of the best in the country. Electric vehicle charging stations and unique parking space available/occupied indication by overhead LED lighting along with displays indicating number of available parking spots at each row are progressive and latest in technology. Very well conceived. Inside, modern and very clean with free wi-fi.
The people of Oregon should be proud of this very nice airport.

Super quick check in and security. Tons of great shops, bars, and the best barber shop in an airport ever! Great transportation options and the friendliest TSA ever! Don't forget to get "foot selfie" on their famously tacky carpet. PDX is one on a kind.
