The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana, Punjab is a state agricultural university in India.[1] It was established in 1962 and is the nation's third-oldest agricultural university, after Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar and Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneshwar. It was formally inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on July 8, 1963. It has an international reputation for excellence in agriculture.[citation needed] PAU pioneered the Green Revolution in India[2] in the 1960s and is considered as one of the best agricultural universities in India.It was bifurcated in 2005 with the formation of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences UniversityThe university has a very strong reputation in sports[citation needed], and it and its alumni have won many awards for excellence in sport. The university has facilities for basketball, badminton, cycling, cricket, field hockey, football, gymnastics, handball, volleyball, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, weight training and Kabbadi. There is also a cycling velodrome, an astroturf field for hockey, and a stadium for various sports.

There is an open-air theatre for cultural activities and a student community center for miscellaneous extracurricular activities. Numerous international and Punjabi culture festivities have been staged at the university.Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is in Ludhiana city (Punjab State) in northwest India, 316 km from New Delhi. It is well connected by road and rail with the national capital. Situated on the Ludhiana - Ferozepur Road, the university covers an area of 1,510 acres (6.1 km2) on its main campus and 4,615 acres (18.68 km2) at the regional research stations. Modeled on the pattern of land grant colleges in the United States, the PAU performs the integrated functions of teaching, research and extension in agriculture, agricultural engineering, home science and allied disciplines. The university has well-equipped laboratories, library and lecture rooms and elaborate farm facilities. Accommodation is available in the university hostels for single students. Married students, if accompanied by their family members, have to find accommodation outside the campus.

Now ranked number one university in India. Helping farmers to increase their produces. Spreading over 2500 hectares. Largest campus and all facilities are available here.

most disgusting uni with corrupt people and very bad system of education. Its only made for profit not for education.90% employee are rude and unwilling to work

University itself is beautiful but I had a bad experience with the cycling on rent service offered there. Whenever you rent cycle then they keep the money change and promise to return when you'll drop the cycle back. So, what happened in my case that I got few minutes late in returning the cycle and he kept my money and said you are late and it's penalty. He never mentioned about this when I took cycle from him and been cycling from the last 20 days. It's not about the money but the way they are misleading people coming there is very disappointing. They should clearly mention about deductions if we get late or should have given warning once so there's no surprises. I don't even understand how stupid these people are that by deducting money like this, they will loose their customer forever and even no one is going to recommend them (atleast I won't be). If anyone had similar experiences, feel free to comment below.

This is first Agricultural University of Punjab as well as India. Contribution, developments, researches done here make a Big Impact on Indian Agricuture system. When India became independent there was huge shortage of food grains, even Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadar Shastri advised people to take 1 day fast everyweek to make food available to all. But after the contribution by this university India became independent in Food Grains also and now india exports grains to many other countries. I always pay my salute to Doctores and reserchers of this university.

Very good university in the town some time they organised fare for different products of agricultures and well organised good for the farmers they can get new knowlage of differents crops there.
Staff is well trained and soft spoke. Building is very well maintained in the huge area and very gokd greenery keeping the view of todays polution.

Large Lush-Green campus with well planned layout. Good in Studies and having one of best Libraries in Asia. Sports and athletic life is exceptional. Overall a good institution to be a part of. One of must visit places in Ludhiana.

Awesome place was there for a marathon event.. So the location is perfect and more over to it there is a hockey stadium inside university and different sports categories

Punjab Agricultural University is a huge university of north India where from all over the world students come to make their future bright. They learn the new techniques of agriculture and many more. The university environment is very mind blowing. Every facility (like market, hospital, bank, atm,library,swimming pool, gym,cycling track, running track etcetera)is available within the uni campus. I love its greenery most since childhood

The best university in punjab for bachelors, masters and phd courses. It has 4 colleges that offer bsc, msc, phd, btech and many other courses. There is facility of market, swimming pool, playground for every outdoor sport, indoor sports, auditoriums, examination halls, multistory library and a lot more. The environment is well maintained and all teachers are well qualified. You'll enjoy studying in this clean and green university.
