Great food! We used to come here when we were students at UW, and still make the trip back to visit. It's worth it! We love the gyros, and the chicken caesar gyro. Also, their french fries are amazing! They are always perfect.

Every time im in madison or near it, I stop by here. I've brought lots of friends here for the first time and none of them have ever been less than amazed! Never have to ask for extra sauce, or anything! These guys know how to do it.

Great atmosphere. Right on state street in Madison. If you're not familiar with the area, the street is always closed except to emergency vehicles. You can walk down the street and get a view of the capital. Beautiful at night! Plus, there are lots of ramps nearby that will have plenty of parking.

Stop by! You won't be disappointed.

Have been coast to coast and this is the best gyro year in and year out.....great staff makes it fun for every one......ringing the tip bell is a pleasure!

I ve been coming to this restaurant for awhile and the food/service has always been exceptional. On the other hand this restaurant continues to use styrofoam for their takeout orders showing a strong disregard for the environment. I want to support this business but they are making it harder and harder for me to do so as they are still using single use plastics, while other restaurants adapt.

Great gyros and fries. When we came in the man at the counter asked us if we'd ever been, which we had not. They proceeded to give us a paper basket with a heathy helping of the gyro meat. They said they make it in house and I'd believe it, not too oily, not too dry, and great seasoning profile.

If you like a really good gyro, go to this place!!!!!

Restaurant seating area has just been remodeled. Super fun and colorful. Bathroom still need a major facelift...but they are functional.

The absolute BEST gyros on the planet. I always stop in when I am in the area to grab a couple bites.

Mixed feelings about this place. These days it is way overpriced, so I really won't go unless it is a last resort. Food and portions are just okay for the price. I would call this the Ian's Pizza of Gyros-Overpriced and overrated. I actually preferred Zorba's back in the day, but that is long gone. Still, I know where to get better gyros at a much better price in Madison. There are several better places to go, they are just not downtown and/or open late.

Food was cold and over priced. Gyro sauce was handed out in small containers. If you wanted more you had to pay extra. Soda refills are first one free, any more afterwards you had to pay again. Employees were very friendly and helpful, that was one of the upsides to this place. Also it had a upstairs balcony for outside dining.

Just wanna say thanks for the great gyros by Parthenon Gyros years after years, decades after decades. My first visit to Parthenon was in 1983 and have been back very often. My go to place to bring out-of-town guests to sample the best gyro in American! Keep up the good work! Love you all!

Sloppy.Every piece burnt.never again. Just extra nasty

This was hands down the best gyro I've ever had! I couldn't dream up a better gyro if I tried! The fries are amazing too! Will definitely be making this a mandatory stop on our trips back and forth to Sheboygan! OPA!

Amazingly good gyros. And very friendly people. And the only fries in the world our puppy likes (he's a real critic).

Ill give it 4 stars because the food is good but i came one night for a mega gyro and didnt recieve my pop wasnt even told it comes with pop..and the next day paid for a mega gyro and got a reg.gyro the meat i got the night before was a mego gyro but other than that no compliments food was awesome

Parthenon is under new ownership(1st statement I was wrong about). Service needs time to grow in speed and confidence (2nd statement I was wrong about, but not sure why far fewer familiar faces behind the counter). The most disappointing part is the healthier new owners removed the partial grease dip on the pita bread. The pita is simply warmed now. Without crisp and flavor. I'm hoping this step returns as an option (This delicious step IS available if now only by request ) Parthenon was (could very well still be) the very best! I look forward to going back to Parthenon Gyro on State St and appreciate the personal reply to this review! Madison is my native home and gyros on State is part of my pride and identity. Thank you!

Pretty great food, if you like your gyros piled high with meat you will love this place. Personally I always feel like it's too much meat per gyro. But really good place and fast service

Excellent and authentic gyros here. An awesome rooftop seating area and even a seating area in front... Definitely recommend!

Over cooked dry pita. Sauce was very thin, runny and no flavor. Maybe a bad day for them or....

The musky, savoury, tender, succulent, juicy-ness of the Lamb Meat is so good that its flavors are forever engrained into my taste buds and etched into my mind forever. Each visit re-enforces its taste. The Tatziki sauce is creamy with a type of zing that compliments the meat in a peculiar yet loving way. I always get mine with the Fresh and Watery Tomatoes that have a soft crunch and a fresh bite.

Third time a charm I guess. First review and second visit was one star but this time was pretty good.

Best gyros anywhere. I was born in Madison 1974 and have been enjoying Parthenon gyros since before I could walk. My grandparents loved/love it so I started early I moved away to realize that they are so superior! I cant find anything close. So I travel to Madison and its totally worth it every time.

Food was delicious, and the counter staff was friendly! I will definitely stop in again so I can try everything else! Remind me next time to see if they can chop the tomatoes on the gyro, though, so they don't jump ship with every bite! Nom!

Awesome! I live in the greater Milwaukee area, I have had a few gyros from Oakland gyros, they are great, you get A LOT of food for a very very reasonable price. BUT, if you want an AMAZING Gyro, go to the Parthenon.... their gyro meat is leaps and bounds better than anywhere else! The spices they use and their homemade mixture is far superior to anyone else out there! Now if the Parthenon would give you an entire bottle of tzatziki sauce like Oakland in Milwaukee, well, I'd give them a 6 star review instead of just a 5 star!

It can sometimes be a little slow but those times are worth the wait. Fresh crispy fries, Hot juicy meat, and cold sauce make for a damn good meal. I might be biased because I do really enjoy this place.

Great food and service. They did an excellent job with social distancing between tables in their dining area as well.

This place has always been a favorite in our household. And, they just gave their dining room a face lift. Looks and tastes fantastic!!

I ordered some Gyro plates through their online ordering for curbside pickup and it was right on time. I ordered extra sauces and put in a request that the pita bread and sauce be stored sperate from the cooked meat/veggies so that it would travel well, and it did. The gyro was just as delicious reheated, and the tzatziki sauce and cheese fries are SOOOOO good! Great food, great place.

Been coming here for Gyros since I was a kid. Haven't found a better joint for fast Greek food anywhere.

I've gone to this place at least 4 times now. I get the same thing every time, and when I finish eating it all, I am stuffed. I had it last Friday in face, right after work. I was full from 4ish until 10 o'clock. That's six-ish hours with 1 gyro and fries. Give them your money, and they'll give you a full tummy.

I've been coming here since 1976 and the quality never fails. I've tried to find a decent gyros all over the country. Nothing comes close.

Restrooms may have updated in the 20+ years since I last visited, but gyros and service are still top-notch! For a sandwich shop close to campus decor and cleanliness are impressive.

Best Gyros in the area. They also have outdoor seating up top.
