Lescun and Lac de L'Hurs in the Pyrenean National ...

Lescun and Lac de L'Hurs in the Pyrenean National Park provides some of the most outstanding scenic hiking the world has to offer. Why travel further when Europe has so much to offer. There is more here to see and to feel at one with nature than any man or woman could wish for in a lifetime of walking.

I love

Magic

Magnificent !!!!

Magnificent !!!!
Nothing like a traditional zoo.
You can see all the animals and some even just 5 meters away such as bears, otters and marmots with whom you can share a moment of caresses and feed them thanks to a healer who welcomes you in front of the enclosure.
The setting is grandiose, the animals feel good and it shows !!
A mini farm, where children can have fun

This park has everything a great and has nothing to envy to the others.
Do not miss this wonderful moment to share with your family.

Lac d'Anglas GR10 beautiful hiking hard enough for Sunday sports. Count a good two and a half hours to get to the lake from Gourette. From the lake, you can still pursue to other lakes.

A sublime park !!!

A sublime park !!!
Be careful though, depending on your location within the park you will see very different things.
The essentials in my eyes are

Cauteret bridge of Spain lake gaube (access entirely by telecabine and telesiege for the non walkers and for the brave 1h15 of mounted on gr10 rather technical)

The circus of gavarnie (access on foot easy except to reach the foot of the waterfall)

The pic of the aiguillous or submits of salettes (to count 4h of walking taking advantage of the landscape Attention 50 last meters difficult but seen at 2976m on 3/4 valley whose famous breche of rolland). Departure from the station piau engaly. Little known but superb

The little train of artouste (attention limited time to 1:40 on the lake if I'm not mistaken)

Attention the essential of the structure is accessible only from 12 years old.

If you like nature, it is a spectacular place. The Spanish side is more prepared for tourism with better ski slopes, towns with their bars, etc.
The French side has a more rural use, sheep, cows, horses loose or on farms.

We spent one month in the town of Viey. Each day exploring different trails around the national park. It was November so there was plenty of snow but lovely blue skies and very quiet before the ski season began. This is a very tranquil and beautiful part of the world, with long winding natural walks that you can loose yourself in. I will come back to do some of the Camino route in spring. I suspect it will be stunning.

Some radiant splendors nestle in this easily accessible or more confidential park, where every detour discovers the fulminating waterfall of a rushing torrent, a sharp mineral peak, the pastel reflections of an isolated lake, the wild environment of a ephemeral beauty as much as magical for the passing visitor who will know how to preserve it.
