They don t know how to do their job and deny people s applications because they aren t willing to do the job they are paid for. They just collect the money and sit happily while others remain homeless. I hope karma catches up to them.
They just called me twice, and nobody was on the line. Complete silence.
Terrible service and turnaround time. Don't expect for them to ever do their job and actually call you back. -this review brought to you by not only my experience, but by a close friend as well.
We ve used these guys for years. Always been top notch for us!
Pacific Screening provided a negative reference on me to a potential landlord. Their agreement with the landlord precludes the landlord from providing with any information beyond Pacific Screening's phone number. Pacific Screening will only tell me that I owe a debt to a previous landlord and will not say anything more. They say it is a confidential landlord/tenant reference and will not provide me with any information whatsoever about it. They won't say where this debt originated, how much it is, or even how old it is. I cannot dispute or resolve the debt, if it is somehow valid (or cheap enough to pay off just to make the extortion/mistake go away quickly!). I cannot imagine how this information can be used to deny housing to me and then be kept secret from me under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Update:
When I pointed out their black-letter violation of fderal law in withholding information about me from me, they relented and told me which former landlord reported negative information about me. It turns out that they did not even speak to that landlord but rather to another SRO tenant of that house who trash-talked me and gave inaccurate and outdated information about me. Apparently, they didn't bother to verify with whom they spoke before issuing a report. I was told Pacific Screening would follow up and re-inquire on this issue but it has been several weeks and nothing has happened. Time for legal action?
Since when does 20 years of history apply on rental history? They cited an apartment I rented over 20 years ago from which I self-evicted as a reason to deny me tenancy at an apartment I aspired to rent from last year. Since that initial self-eviction of 20 years ago, I have ample spotless rental history! What a joke of a screening firm. Even the IRS, when auditing, don't go back historically 15 or more years! Pacific Screening, judging by your reviews on multiple websites, you are only in business to make money and employ unprofessional assessors which communicate with renters in completely unprofessional ways. I do not recommend.
We are in the process of getting a Town Home in Yachats Oregon, and we have never worked with a Professional Rental Company before ( always worked with private owners). This was a first for us and looking back on it now, I am not sure why I was so worried.
Pacific Screening treated us fair, honest and gave us as much information as they legally could, keep in mind they have to follow laws and regulations just like anyone else. We found out there was in issue with our current landlord and we were able to correct it. The representative from Pacific Screening urged us to appeal the decision. Good thing we decided to do so. Because as of Dec 31 2018 we will be moving in to our new place.
Helpful hints that we learned, Be upfront and honest with the Rental agency about ANYTHING on your background ( credit, criminal and rental). The more honest and upfront you are the better things will work
2- follow up and follow through with all documents and emails and phone calls. Remember, Pacific Screening handles ALOT Oregon and therefore can get busy at times.
3- Be patient! It takes time to get information back.
4- Do you own research, check your credit/rental and such on your own and dispute anything that you may not agree with. Be educated. Be Smart. Be real!
They will text you with questions on a number you cant call or text.
This lazy, lying excuse of a background company took the word of their friends and colleagues at Performance Properties, Inc., also in Oregon, and provided fraudulent information to a business. Pacific Screening didn't fact check the information given to them by Performance Properties, Inc. They took it and ran with it. In an attempt to slander the name and reputation of a consumer. This company is worthless. Before you rent a home or an apartment or anything at all. Find out if they use Pacific Screening as their background check provider. If they do, politely decline to do business with them. You will not be treated with decency. The information Pacific Screening will provide will be fraudulent.
