I love my school. I have done this school since kindergarten and now going to the 10th grade. It is not easy but I am ahead and have learned so much more than my brick and mortar friends. My coach, my mother has helped me to excel by giving me structure and a love for learning. Thank you for having this home base school. All teachers are not awesome but all helped me to get the information needed. Some of my teachers have been outstanding. They are the best. There is no school that will be 100% in everything but PAVCS is definitely striving high. I love learning in the safety of my home and not focus on a shooter or being bullied. I can just focus on learning.

Don't want to rate it but have too. This is my first year ever as a parent homeschooling their child and I have to say I am very disappointed. I have contacted teachers numerously, contacted FCS, contacted the principle, guidance and I get ignored, blown off or a unsatisfactory answer. My daughter also has contacted her teachers and receives the same type of responses. Questions in classes go unanswered for her and some classes that she does have she cannot do because there is no guidance, plan outlined or anything for her to give her an idea, example or a task to do for that subject. I only choose this school because my daughter was excited about it and I choose this school over other online schools. But now, I am regretting the decision I have made as well as she. She told me the second day of classes, "Mom if it does not get better, I want to go to normal school." But I kept pushing her and saying, it will get better. Its the end of the first week but nothing is changing. The way we have been treated, I believe that she is right, its time to go back to a brick and mortar school. She might get bullied, she might get stressed, she might get overwhelmed, but at least if she has a problem, and issues or needs help because I don't even have the learning coach answers, guidance or outlined plan to some of her classes, I know that she can succeed better.

The curriculum used by this school is fabulous! My children have attended PAVCS for almost 5 years now and love it, they learn so much. In 5th grade besides daily classes in Literature, Math, Vocabulary, Spelling, and History; Science, Composition, Music, and Art are taught twice a week. I find the lesson plans and activities to be engaging and challenging for students and easy to follow for parents. The teachers we've been assigned have been wonderful, helpful, and always available. I recommend this school, but know that you are taking on a full time job of co-teaching your children.

The teachers are very nice and we have been very impressed with the support for our dyslexic child, but there are so many annoying tech issues that are to the point of a deal break. We have a very fast internet and 3 Google Boost systems so that is not the issue nor is that we aren't tech savvy; my husband works in IT. The actual k12 system has many compatibility issues that need to be resolved for compliance with Adobe, etc. I have complained about this and sadly, the teachers and parent support can say nothing but, "call tech support." When a parent does call tech support, it seems the norm is to spend 45 minutes on the phone with them to have nothing solved. VERY frustrating. The K12 curriculum is a major disappointment as well -- so much back and forth between computer and books that it makes it very chaotic. The school expects you to print out so many random worksheets instead of just including them in a book in the first place. I am a former educator myself and have taught in both public and private settings and I am not a fan at all. The history and science curriculum are particularly bad and in a format that is not at all geared to true learning. The computers they issue are slow and wonky.
